What Posts Are Available? – IBPS RRB Vacancy & Eligibility 2026

Indicative vacancies in Annexure-I add up to 13,706. Tripura Gramin Bank has marked NR (not reported), so the final indent at allotment can rise. Allotment for Clerk and Scale-I is state/UT-wise. You work in the RRB of the state you opt for, not anywhere in India on first posting.

Uttar Pradesh (1,200 Clerk + 425 Scale-I), Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Odisha and Bihar hold the largest Clerk and Scale-I pools. Manipur has zero seats this cycle. Scale-II specialist seats are thin: Marketing 16, Treasury 18, Agriculture 38, Law 46.

What Is the Salary? – IBPS RRB PO & Clerk 2026

The IBPS PDF does not print a payslip. Participating RRBs follow IBA scales under the 12th Bipartite Settlement / 9th Joint Note. Figures below are indicative for 2026 DA levels.

Officer Scale-I illustration (basic ₹48,480 + special allowance + DA + HRA 8–10% + learning/location allowance, minus NPS ~10% of basic+DA): gross about ₹80,400–₹84,100; net about ₹74,000–₹77,000. HRA is lower in many RRB rural centres than in an SBI metro posting.

Office Assistant illustration (graduate basic ≈ ₹26,730 + DA + HRA + special allowance, minus PF/NPS): gross about ₹47,300; net about ₹43,700.

Calculate a personalised estimate with the Bank Salary Calculator. This calculator provides an indicative estimate. The official formula in the joining bank’s rules prevails.

Perks typically include medical, leave, NPS and, after confirmation, standard bank officer/clerk facilities. Do not assume leased housing at every rural branch.

What Is the Application Fee?

CategoryFee (inclusive of GST)
SC / ST / PwBD₹175
ESM / DESM (Office Assistant)₹175
All other candidates (including EWS & OBC)₹850

Pay online between 01 September and 21 September 2026. Bank charges are extra. Fee is separate if you apply for Office Assistant and an Officer post. The edit window after closure usually carries an extra ₹200 correction charge (confirm on the portal when the window opens).

How to Apply?

Clerk and Officer use two different portals. Registering on one does not create an application on the other.

CategoryPortal
Office Assistant (Clerk)IBPS RRB Office Assistant application portal
Officer Scale-I / II / IIIIBPS RRB Officer application portal
  1. Open the correct portal above, or go to ibps.in → CRP RRBs-XV → Apply Online.
  2. Complete new registration. Save the registration number and password from email/SMS.
  3. Fill in personal, academic and preference details. State/UT choice for Clerk and Scale-I is irrevocable.
  4. Upload photo, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration, Class 10 certificate and category/disability certificates as per Annexure-III. Use our Photo & Signature Resizer before uploading.
  5. Pay the fee online and submit. Print the e-receipt and application.

Handwritten declaration (exact text is in the PDF): you must write it yourself in English, in black ink, and upload a clear scan. A typed or third-person declaration is a rejection ground.

If you submit more than one application for the same post, only the last submitted application will be considered. Fee paid for an earlier application may not be transferred or refunded.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Applying only on the Clerk portal when you also want Scale-I. These are two paid applications.
  2. Choosing a state whose local language you cannot read, write and speak. Language is tested at joining if your 10th/12th does not prove it.
  3. Treating “final year” as eligible. The degree result must be declared on or before 21 September 2026.
  4. Uploading a smudged thumb impression or a declaration written by someone else.
  5. Waiting until the evening of 21 September 2026. IBPS servers are routinely slow on the last day.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is a multi-stage process. Marks shortlist you. Document verification, local-language check (Clerk and Scale-I) and medical fitness decide appointment.

PostStages
Office AssistantPrelims (qualifying) → Mains (merit) → Provisional allotment → DV + language + medical
Officer Scale-IPrelims (qualifying) → Mains → Common Interview → Provisional allotment → DV + language + medical
Officer Scale-II & IIISingle online exam → Common Interview → Provisional allotment → DV + medical

Interview is out of 100. Qualifying marks: 40% general, 35% SC/ST/OBC/PwBD. Combined weightage for officers: 80% online exam + 20% interview. Nodal RRBs conduct interviews with NABARD and IBPS support.

Prelims marks are not added to the final merit. Mains / single-exam scores are normalised.

What’s changed this year

CRP XIV (2025 cycle) opened around 13,217–13,316 seats. CRP XV lists 13,706 indicative posts before Tripura reports. Clerk seats rose from about 7,972–8,002 to 8,183. Scale-I rose from about 3,907–3,928 to 4,256. Participating banks are now 28 after the One State, One RRB consolidation, not the older 43-bank map.

Previous cycle cut-offs (Office Assistant XIV allotment, General – sample)

Allotment scores from CRP XIV Office Assistant (General) included Andhra Pradesh 70.25, Assam 66.82, Bihar 75.35, Gujarat 68.47 and Haryana 75.03 (out of normalised Mains). These are last-cycle figures, not XV targets. State cut-offs move with vacancy and paper difficulty.

Why Do Regional Rural Banks Matter?

Regional Rural Banks are government-owned rural lenders created to take banking into villages that commercial banks underserve. Sponsor banks, the Central Government and State Governments jointly own them. After the 2025 consolidation, most states have a single RRB.

IBPS only conducts the common exam and allots candidates. Your employer is the RRB of the allotted state, not IBPS. Work sits in the banking and insurance sector: agriculture loans, SHG credit, PM schemes and branch operations.

Why candidates search for this exam: RRB Clerk and Scale-I are among the few regular bank jobs that a fresh graduate can enter without prior experience. In-hand pay is close to public-sector clerks and junior officers, with NPS and a clear promotion ladder (Clerk → Scale-I via internal exam; Scale-I → Scale-II/III). The search spike also comes from state-wise vacancy maps. A UP graduate cares about 1,200 Clerk seats, not the national headline.

The downside: first posting is usually a rural or semi-urban branch. Transfers stay inside that RRB’s state. Infrastructure, housing and city lifestyle lag SBI or IBPS PPOs in metros. If you want a Mumbai or Bengaluru desk in year one, this is the wrong list.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

CRP RRBs-XV is the rural twin of IBPS CRP PO/MT and Clerk, not a smaller side exam. Compared with IBPS Clerk / IBPS PO in commercial PSBs, RRB papers skip English in Prelims and give you a Hindi-or-English choice in Mains. Competition per state seat is still high in Bihar, UP, Rajasthan and Haryana, but lower than IBPS Clerk all-India lists because you only fight inside one state.

Also Read: MPESB Madhya Pradesh Police SI & Subedar Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 507 Posts

Best fit: graduates who already live in or will accept the opted state, can handle the local language, and want a regular bank job with NPS rather than another year of IBPS PO attempts. Scale-II specialists (CA, IT, Law, Agriculture) face far thinner vacancy but also a smaller applicant pool.

Who should skip: candidates who refuse rural posting, cannot prove local-language skills, or are still waiting for a degree result after 21 September 2026. Also skip Scale-II/III if you lack the exact officer experience. IBPS will not treat private-sales years as “officer in a bank or FI” unless the notification’s wording fits your offer letters.

Practical tip: Pick the state you can actually serve and whose language you can pass at joining. Then file Clerk and Scale-I as two separate applications if you are a fresh graduate. One fee of ₹850 does not cover both.

What Documents Are Required?

Keep scans ready in the Annexure-III size and format:

  • Photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration
  • Class 10 certificate (for date of birth and, often, language proof)
  • Graduation marksheet and degree (result dated on or before 21 September 2026)
  • Caste / EWS / PwBD / ESM certificates in the prescribed IBPS proforma
  • Experience certificates for Scale-II and Scale-III (designation, period, drawing officer)
  • CA / LLB / MBA / specialised degree proofs where claimed
  • Photo ID that matches the application name

Document alert: OBC certificate must be NCL and in the central format. A state “OBC” card without the NCL clause is a frequent DV rejection. EWS income certificate must be for the financial year specified in the PDF.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. IBPS publishes a provisional allotment list by post and category and allots you to one RRB on merit-cum-state preference.
  2. The allotted RRB calls you for document verification and, for Clerk and Scale-I, a local-language test if your school certificates do not prove proficiency.
  3. Medical fitness is completed as per that RRB’s rules.
  4. You receive an appointment letter from the RRB, not from IBPS. Joining formalities, bond if any, and training calendar follow that bank’s service regulations.
  5. Probation is typically about two years for officers and shorter for Office Assistants, as per the concerned RRB. Confirmation depends on performance and passing any internal confirmation test.
  6. First posting is usually a rural or semi-urban branch in the same state. Later movement stays within that RRB. Promotion: Office Assistant can move to Scale-I through internal process; Scale-I officers move to Scale-II/III on vacancies and performance.

Based on recent RRB cycles, expect roughly 6–8 months from application close to joining.

FAQs – IBPS RRB CRP XV 2026

Q1: What is the last date to apply for IBPS RRB PO and Clerk 2026?

A: 21 September 2026. Registration and fee payment both close on that day. No extension has been announced as of 01 September 2026.

Q2: What is the age limit for IBPS RRB posts?

A: Office Assistant: 18–28 years, Scale-I: below 30, Scale-II: below 32, Scale-III: below 40, all as on 01 September 2026. OBC gets 3 extra years, SC/ST 5, PwBD 10.

Q3: Is there an exam for IBPS RRB, or is it interview-based?

A: Yes, there is an online exam. Clerk: Prelims + Mains, no interview. Scale-I: Prelims + Mains + interview. Scale-II and III: single exam + interview. Wrong answers cost 0.25 marks.

Q4: What is the salary of an RRB Clerk or Scale-I officer?

A: Indicative in-hand is about ₹43,000–₹44,000 for Office Assistant and ₹74,000–₹77,000 for Scale-I at the current IBA DA, after NPS. Gross is higher. Rural HRA is lower than metro PSB postings.

Q5: Can final-year students apply for IBPS RRB 2026?

A: No, unless the university has already declared your result on or before 21 September 2026. “Appearing” without a declared result does not meet the cut-off written in the notification.

Q6: Is IBPS RRB a permanent government job?

A: Yes. Allotment is to a Regional Rural Bank as regular staff on IBA scales with NPS, subject to probation and that bank’s service rules. IBPS itself is not your employer.

Q7: Can candidates from other states apply?

A: Yes, any eligible Indian citizen can apply. You must opt for one state/UT for Clerk and Scale-I and serve that RRB. Local-language proficiency of that state is still required.

Q8: Where will I be posted if selected?

A: In the Regional Rural Bank of the state you chose, usually a rural or semi-urban branch. You do not get an all-India first posting like some SBI PO lists.

Q9: Is there negative marking in this exam?

A: Yes. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question are deducted for every wrong answer in Prelims, Mains and the single exam. Unattempted questions have no penalty.

Q10: How many attempts are allowed?

A: No separate attempt cap. You may apply in every CRP cycle as long as you meet the age limit as on that year’s cut-off date.

Q11: What are the disadvantages of an RRB job compared with IBPS PO?

A: The honest downside is location. First posting is rural, transfers stay within one state RRB, and city allowances are thinner than a commercial PSB metro seat. Pay is still IBA-linked.

Q12: How much do clerks earn in Regional Rural Banks?

A: Roughly ₹43,000–₹44,000 in hand at the start for a graduate Office Assistant, after PF/NPS, depending on DA and HRA slab of the centre. That is below many metro IBPS Clerk postings but stable.

Q13: Are rural bank officer jobs worth it for fresh graduates?

A: Worth knowing: Scale-I is one of the few officer-entry bank seats that a fresh graduate can take without experience. If you accept rural service for two years, the pay and NPS beat most private sales jobs.
