Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), the state recruitment board under the Government of Madhya Pradesh, has opened a fresh Subedar / Sub-Inspector cadre test for Police Headquarters, Home (Police) Department. The drive covers 507 posts across district police, Special Armed Force and technical branches, with online applications from 09 September to 23 September 2026.

This is a new 2026 cycle, not an extension of the 2025 SI–Subedar test that has already moved through mains, PET and medical. Pay is 7th CPC Level-9 (₹36,200–₹1,14,800). Posting is anywhere in Madhya Pradesh.

Graduates can apply for Subedar, SI (District Executive Force) and SI (Special Armed Force). Mechanical diploma holders and PCM graduates have a smaller technical window. Who cannot apply

• Women candidates for SI (SAF). That cadre is male-only.

Age is reckoned on 23 September 2026.

Relaxations are not added on top of each other. Only the single highest applicable limit is used. Contractual or honorary staff such as Shiksha Karmi or Panchayat Karmi do not get employee relaxation. Multiple rulebook summaries also state a minimum age of 21 years for Subedar and SI. What Is the Sub-Inspector Salary in Madhya Pradesh?

All seven posts sit on Level-9: ₹36,200–₹1,14,800 of the 7th Pay Commission matrix used by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Indicative in-hand after confirmation (not an official slip):
Basic ₹36,200 + DA ~55–58% (~₹19,900–₹21,000) + HRA 20% in Y-class cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior (~₹7,240) + transport / other allowances, minus NPS (~10% of basic + DA) and routine deductions. Take-home is roughly ₹55,000–₹65,000 per month in a Y-class city. Z-class district postings draw 10% HRA and sit lower. Year-1 probation in-hand is closer to ₹35,000–₹42,000, depending on which allowances attach to the stipend.

What Is the Application Fee?

Other-state candidates pay the Unreserved fee even if they hold a reserved certificate from another state. Correction, where charged, is listed in the rulebook as ₹20 per correction plus portal charges. The fee, once paid, is not treated as transferable across duplicate forms.

How to Apply?

Applications are accepted only online. The form is scheduled to open on 09 September 2026 on the MPESB / MP Online stack. There is no offline or email route.

1. Complete your eKYC profile on the MPESB MP Online portal if you do not already have an active profile.
2. From 09 September 2026, open esb.mp.gov.in → Advertisement & Online Form → Subedar / Sub-Inspector Recruitment Test 2026, or search the same exam on esb.mponline.gov.in.
3. Choose every cadre you are eligible for and mark the preference order. One profile can cover multiple posts; follow the form’s exact multi-post instructions.
4. Upload photo and signature in the prescribed size. Use the Photo & Signature Resizer before you upload.
5. Pay the ESB fee + portal fee online. Save the payment receipt and application number.
6. Use the correction window (till 28 September 2026) only for fields the portal allows. Do not assume the category or photo can be changed on the last evening.
7. Print the final submitted form. You will need it at PET and document verification.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1. Applying as reserved from another state. Reservation and extra age are only for permanent MP domicile holders. Other-state forms belong in UR Open.
2. Women filling SI (SAF). That 69-post cadre is male-only. A SAF choice on a woman’s form is a wasted preference.
3. PCM or Mechanical mismatch. Photo / QD / Fingerprint need Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics together. Arms needs a 3-year Mechanical diploma, not a generic B.E. in another branch unless the rulebook treats it as equivalent. Read the exact wording.
4. Ignoring the two-child rule. If a third child was born on or after 26 January 2001, the form can be rejected at DV even after you clear Mains.
5. Submitting two forms and assuming the first is cancelled. If more than one application is submitted for the same post, only the last submitted application will be considered. Fee paid on an earlier form may not be refunded.

How Are Sub-Inspectors Selected?

Selection is a chain of stages. Prelims only shortlists. Appointment follows Mains merit plus PET plus interview, then document verification and medical fitness.

No interview is skipped in this notification. The interview is a listed 50-mark stage after PET.

Physical standards (PST)

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

PET is compulsory and carries 100 marks.

Minimum qualifying marks: 30 for non-technical posts, 20 for technical posts. Failing PET ends the candidature even if Mains marks are high. The medical exam later checks vision, colour blindness, flat feet, knock-knee and general fitness for uniformed duty.
