What Posts Are Available?

Vacancies are tentative. SSC does not fix the numbers; Delhi Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs report them. Force-wise or state-wise posting is not allotted by SSC at the application stage. You later fill post/force preference. Final allotment depends on merit, category, medical fitness and vacancies then available.

Takeaway: BSF holds the largest CAPF SI (GD) block (457). Delhi Police SI is the only city-locked officer post in this exam and is usually the first preference for many graduates. CISF SI (Fire) is the new technical stream: 234 male seats, wider age band, different qualification. Female seats are 259 of 1,871. Compared with 2025 (about 5,308 posts), this cycle is leaner. Treat 1,871 as the working total unless a vacancy addendum appears.

What Is the Sub-Inspector Salary in CAPFs?

All three posts sit on Level-6 of the 7th CPC (₹35,400–₹1,12,400). Delhi Police SI is Group C. CAPF SI (GD) and CISF SI (Fire) are Group B (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial).

Indicative monthly pay for a new SI, using DA at about 55% of basic (current central rate after DA crossed 50%) and standard HRA / TA:

ComponentX-class city (Delhi etc.)Y-class cityZ-class / field station
Basic₹35,400₹35,400₹35,400
DA (~55%)₹19,470₹19,470₹19,470
HRA (30% / 20% / 10%)₹10,620₹7,080₹3,540
Transport Allowance (illustrative)₹7,200 + DA on TA₹3,600 + DA on TA₹3,600 + DA on TA
Gross (approx.)₹72,000–₹75,000₹66,000–₹68,000₹62,000–₹64,000
NPS (10% of basic + DA) + CGHS / misc.₹6,000–₹7,000₹6,000–₹7,000₹6,000–₹7,000
In-hand (indicative)₹65,000–₹70,000₹58,000–₹63,000₹54,000–₹59,000

Figures are illustrative, not an appointment-letter amount. CAPF personnel also receive ration money, risk/hardship and uniform-related allowances that often raise field take-home above a plain desk Level-6 slip. Delhi posting uses X-class HRA. Calculate a personal estimate with the Defence Pay Calculator. Use the conversion and allowance rules in your offer; the official formula prevails.

What Is the Application Fee?

CategoryFee
UR / OBC / EWS (male)₹100
Women (all categories)Nil
SC / STNil
Eligible Ex-ServicemenNil

Pay online through BHIM UPI, net banking, or Visa / MasterCard / Maestro / RuPay debit card by 01 October 2026, 11:00 PM. The fee, once paid, is not refunded and is not adjusted against another SSC exam.

How to Apply?

Applications are accepted only on ssc.gov.in or the mySSC mobile app. The old ssc.nic.in OTR does not work on the new site.

  1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on ssc.gov.in if you do not already have one on the new portal.
  2. Prefer Aadhaar-based authentication when the form offers it. Live photograph capture is mandatory.
  3. Log in and open Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026.
  4. Fill in personal, educational and communication details. Use our Photo & Signature Resizer before uploading so the file matches SSC size rules.
  5. Submit the form by 30 September 2026, 11:00 PM. Pay the fee, if payable, by 01 October 2026, 11:00 PM.
  6. Download the application printout. Keep it for three years.
  7. If you spot an error, use the correction window from 08 to 10 October 2026 and pay the correction charge.

Apply once. Post and force preference is collected later through an option form, not by filing separate applications for CRPF, BSF or Delhi Police.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Waiting for 30 September night. SSC servers slow down on closing day.
  • Assuming a two-wheeler licence equals the Delhi Police LMV (Motorcycle and Car) requirement.
  • Treating Paper-I cut-offs from 2024–2025 (200-mark paper) as a target for the new 100-mark Paper-I.
  • Skipping PET practice because “the written exam comes first.” Unfit candidates are dropped after Paper-I shortlisting.
  • Registering only on mySSC without saving the application number from ssc.gov.in, or the other way round, then missing the correction window.

DME is done by CAPF medical boards. Distant vision commonly required is 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, without glasses for many combatised SI posts. Colour vision, knock knees, flat feet and other disqualifying conditions are checked. Exact standards are in the notice annexure. A candidate who clears Paper-II can still be rejected here.

Why Does SSC Matter?

Staff Selection Commission is the Union Government’s main recruiting body for Group B and Group C posts. For this exam, it works as the testing agency for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Delhi Police. The posts sit inside India’s internal-security system: border guarding (BSF, ITBP, SSB), internal armed reserve (CRPF), industrial and fire cover (CISF), and city policing in the National Capital Territory.

Candidates search for this exam because it is one of the few graduate-entry officer ranks that does not go through UPSC. “SSC CPO apply online”, “Delhi Police SI vacancy” and “CAPF SI salary” stay high-intent queries every cycle.

The honest limit: SSC only conducts the exam. Posting culture, barracks, leave, and promotion after joining belong to the allotted force. A high CPO rank does not let you rewrite CRPF or BSF service rules.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

Set this paper next to the two tabs most CPO applicants actually keep open: UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant and State Police SI (UPSI, Bihar SI, or a home-state board). UPSC CAPF AC is a Group A gazetted command track with a longer written-plus-interview grind. State SI often stays inside one state, with a different PET and sometimes a local-language paper. SSC CPO sits in the middle: graduate SI rank, all-India CAPF liability, Delhi Police as the only city cadre, and no interview.

Best fit: Graduates who can run and jump to PET timing, who will accept a border or battalion posting, and who can handle a Paper-II that is now 62.5% English. NCC certificate holders pick up free marks. Science or diploma holders who missed CISF fire entries earlier should look at the 18–30 age band on SI (Fire).

Skip this cycle if PET has already failed you once and you have not rebuilt stamina, if you will only join a metro desk job, or if English comprehension is a consistently weak section. A Level-6 CAPF SI is not an SSC CGL Inspector (Examiner / Preventive Officer) lifestyle.

Practical tip: Book the LMV (Motorcycle and Car) driving test this month if Delhi Police is your first preference, and run timed 1.6 km / 800 m sessions three days a week until PET dates drop. Paper-I is shorter this year; sectional timers punish anyone who still prepares as if they had two hours.

What Documents Are Required for CAPF SI Jobs?

Keep originals plus scans ready before PE&MT and DV:

  • Class 10 certificate (date of birth)
  • Graduation degree / marksheet, or CISF Fire diploma / B.Sc (PCM) as applicable
  • Category certificate (SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS) in the SSC annexure format, still valid
  • Photo identity (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, driving licence)
  • LMV driving licence (Motorcycle and Car) for male Delhi Police SI
  • ESM discharge book and undertaking, if applicable
  • NCC certificate, if claiming bonus
  • Domicile / hill-area / ST height-relaxation certificate where PST relaxation is claimed
  • NOC for serving employees, to be produced when asked
  • Recent photographs matching the live capture used in the form

Document alert: OBC certificates must be in the central format with non-creamy-layer wording. A state OBC certificate without that annexure is a common DV rejection. Height-relaxation certificates must name the notified area; a generic residence proof is not enough.

Service Conditions

CAPF and CISF SI posts carry all-India service liability. Delhi Police SI serves in Delhi. Confirmation follows force-wise training and probation rules of the allotted organisation, not a uniform SSC bond printed in the short highlights. NPS applies to new central recruits. Promotion inside a force (SI → Inspector and above) follows that force’s seniority and departmental exam rules.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. SSC publishes Paper-I scores and calls shortlisted candidates for PST/PET at CAPF centres.
  2. PET/PST-qualified candidates receive the Paper-II admit card.
  3. After Paper-II, SSC releases scores with NCC bonus and asks for post/force preference if not already collected.
  4. CAPF medical boards conduct DME. Unfit candidates may seek Review Medical as per the notice.
  5. Document verification checks certificates against the application.
  6. The allotted force issues an offer and joining letter. You report to the designated training academy (force-specific).
  7. After academy training and probation under that force’s rules, you receive a regular SI posting. CAPF postings can be border, LWE, or static unit; Delhi Police SI stays in the NCT.

From application to joining, similar CPO cycles have often taken 9–15 months because PET, Paper-II and medical sit on separate calendars. Plan a job or study buffer accordingly.

FAQs – SSC CPO SI 2026

What is the last date to apply for SSC CPO SI 2026?

30 September 2026, 11:00 PM. The fee can be paid till 01 October 2026, 11:00 PM. No extension has been announced as of 10 September 2026. Submit early; the portal slows down on the last evening.

What is the age limit for SSC CPO SI?

20–25 years as on 01 August 2026 for Delhi Police SI and CAPF SI (GD). CISF SI (Fire) is 18–30 years. OBC gets 3 extra years; SC/ST get 5. ESM and Delhi Police departmental windows are listed in the notice.

Is there an exam for SSC CPO SI, or is it interview-based?

Yes, there is an exam and no interview in this notice. Paper-I CBT is followed by PET/PST, then Paper-II CBT, medical and document verification. Paper-II plus NCC bonus drives merit after you clear the physical and medical gates.

What is the salary of an SSC CPO Sub-Inspector?

Level-6 basic is ₹35,400. Indicative in-hand is about ₹65,000–₹70,000 in an X-class city and ₹54,000–₹63,000 in Y/Z stations before CAPF ration and risk allowances. Exact slip depends on DA, HRA class and NPS.

Can final-year students apply for SSC CPO 2026?

Only if the qualifying result is declared by 30 September 2026. The notice requires the degree or diploma to be possessed by the closing date. Carry the original at DV. Do not assume “result before PET” will be accepted.

Is SSC CPO SI a permanent government job?

Yes. These are regular SI posts in Delhi Police or CAPFs, not contractual vacancies. New joiners are covered by NPS. Confirmation follows the allotted force’s training and probation rules.

Can candidates from other states apply for this recruitment?

Yes. This is an all-India SSC exam. No state domicile is required. CAPF SI posts can be anywhere in India. Delhi Police SI serves in Delhi.

Where will I be posted if I get selected?

Delhi Police SI: Delhi. CAPF SI (GD) and CISF SI (Fire): anywhere in India, including border and battalion locations. You do not choose the first unit. Preference only ranks forces, not stations.

Is there negative marking in the new pattern?

Yes. Paper-I deducts 0.25 per wrong answer. Paper-II deducts 0.50 per wrong answer. Sectional timers stop you from using leftover time of one part in another part.

Do I need a driving licence for every post?

No. Only male candidates who want Delhi Police SI must hold an LMV licence for Motorcycle and Car by the PE&MT date. CAPF SI (GD) and CISF SI (Fire) do not use that filter.

What are the disadvantages of a CAPF Sub-Inspector posting?

The trade-off is all-India liability, shift and field duty, and a medical plus PET filter that written-exam toppers still fail. Promotion is slower than many SSC CGL Inspector cadres. If you want only a nine-to-five city desk, this is the wrong exam.

How many times can I attempt the CPO exam?

There is no separate attempt cap in the notice. You may apply in every cycle while you remain inside the age band after relaxation. Age, not attempt count, is the hard stop.

Is CAPF SI salary better than a state police SI?

It depends on the state pay panel and HRA city. Central Level-6 plus CAPF allowances is competitive with most state SI scales, but state SI often stays closer to home. Compare posting pain, not only basic pay.
