Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited has opened 122 non-executive vacancies under Advertisement No. 03/Rectt./2026. Applications start on 12 September 2026 and close on 11 October 2026 on the MECL careers portal.

This is a regular Miniratna-I CPSE recruitment under the Ministry of Mines, not a contract drive. Most seats are in drilling, materials and survey trades, so ITI and diploma holders have a larger share than office graduates.

Apply for only one post. Tests are held only in Nagpur, and no travel allowance is paid.

Who Should Apply?

This drive suits Indian nationals who already hold the essential certificate named against the post as on 01 September 2026. A higher degree does not replace a missing ITI, diploma, CA/CMA Intermediate, Wireman ticket or driving licence.

Practical tip: If you hold both an ITI (Fitter / Diesel Mechanic) and a diploma in Mechanical or Drilling, prefer Mechanic-cum-Operator (Drilling) only if you can document one year of relevant shop or rig work. Fresh graduates without that year should look at Materials, Accounts, IT or HR, where experience is not required.

How to read this table: Mechanic-cum-Operator (Drilling) is the single largest post at 30 seats. Materials, Survey and Drilling Technician follow. Accountant, Stenographer, Laboratory, Machinist, Mechanic and Assistant (Hindi) are small or fully backlogged; reserved-category candidates have a clearer path on those codes. Age is 30 years (UR/EWS) for every post.

Qualifications must be from an Indian university or institute recognised by UGC, AICTE or the Government of India. Minimum 45% marks apply to the essential qualification, except CA/CMA Intermediate and listed certificates, where a pass is enough.

What Is the Salary of These Non-Executive Posts?

Pay is on IDA workmen scales. Accountant is W-7 (₹22,900–55,900). Most posts are W-4 (₹20,200–49,300). Junior Driver is W-3 (₹19,600–47,900).

Besides basic pay, MECL pays IDA, HRA, cafeteria perks and allowances, PF, NPS (MECL-Employee Defined Contributory Superannuation Scheme), group performance incentive, group medical insurance, group personal accident and term insurance, plus two-wheeler/four-wheeler loan and house-building advance as per company rules.

Indicative starting package for a W-4 post (proof basis):

Figures change with city class, actual cafeteria draw and tax. Project-site postings may add site-related allowances that the notification does not quantify. Treat this as an estimate, not an offer letter. Run the numbers on the PSU Pay Calculator (IDA Pattern).

W-7 Accountant starts higher (basic ₹22,900). W-3 Junior Driver starts slightly lower (basic ₹19,600). Annual increment follows the IDA scale.

Application Fee

Pay only through the gateway on the application portal. Fee paid on one application number is not adjusted against another number. There is no refund if you later find you picked the wrong post or category.

How to Apply for This Recruitment?

The apply link will go live on the MECL website from 12 September 2026 to 11 October 2026. Until then, download the PDF and keep scans ready.

1. Open MECL Careers and go to Advertisement Notices & Results.
2. Use the portal link for Advt. No. 03/Rectt./2026 (active only between 12 September and 11 October 2026).
3. Register with a live email ID and mobile number. Keep both unchanged for at least one year.
4. Fill in the personal, qualification and experience fields exactly as they appear on your certificates.
5. Select category carefully. It cannot be changed later.
6. Upload a passport-size photo and signature in JPG/JPEG. Resize files with the Photo & Signature Resizer before you start.
7. Upload self-attested PDFs (each bundle up to 500 KB) as listed in the Documents section.
8. Pay ₹500 if you are UR, OBC or EWS.
9. Submit and print the system-generated form with payment details.

If the session drops, re-login with the same registration ID. You do not need to post a hard copy.

Government / PSU / bank employees must apply through proper channel and keep an NOC ready for document verification.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Applying for two posts. Only the form with the higher application number is kept; the fee on the first form is lost.
• Marking OBC-NCL with an old caste certificate or while still in the creamy layer.
• Counting college internship or CA articleship as the three-year accounts experience for Accountant.
• Uploading an LMV-only licence for Junior Driver, Technician (Drilling) or Mechanic. Those posts need HMV as well (Junior Driver needs both LMV and HMV).
• Waiting till 11 October 2026 evening. The notification itself warns of portal congestion.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection has four stages. Final rank is based only on the written test, after you clear document verification and a qualifying skill or trade test.

1. Screening of the online form against age, qualification, experience and documents.
2. Written competitive examination (100% weightage) at Nagpur, conducted by an independent external agency notified under the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
3. Document verification of written-test qualifiers, normally in the ratio of up to 1:7 per vacancy.
4. Skill test/trade test (qualifying only). The committee marks you as Suitable or Not Suitable. Unsuitable names drop out; remaining names are ranked on written-test marks.

Written-test cut-off (of total marks):

Tie-break is decided by the committee chairperson, with reasons on record. Syllabus, paper duration, number of questions and negative marking are not mentioned in the notification. They will appear with the admit card.

All tests are in Nagpur city only. No TA is paid at any stage.

Medical fitness

Appointment depends on fitness certified by a Government Medical Officer or CMO. For Junior Driver, Mechanic, Mechanic-cum-Operator (Drilling), Machinist, Technician (Drilling) and Electrician, the protocol must confirm there is no colour blindness and no night blindness. Medical-exam fees are reimbursed on production of the receipt. PwD candidates are examined with their benchmark disability in view.

Why Does MECL Matter?

Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited is a Miniratna-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines. It was earlier called Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited. The company runs mineral exploration, drilling and consultancy for the Government of India from its corporate office at Seminary Hills, Nagpur, and from project camps across the country.

This is one of the larger non-executive PSU lists in mining this year, and it is a regular IDA service with NPS, not a one-year contract. Compared with GSI field technical posts or Coal India / CMPDI drilling workmen drives, MECL is smaller, but the written-test-plus-qualifying-trade-test path is clearer than a long multi-tier SSC paper.

Skip this if you cannot travel to Nagpur at your own cost, or if you refuse field camps. Also skip Accountant if your three years of accounts work started before you passed CA/CMA Intermediate; the cut-off date will not save that gap.

Who should treat this as high priority: Ex-Servicemen targeting Technician (Drilling), reserved-category graduates looking at backlog office posts, and ITI holders who already have a Heavy Motor Vehicle licence.

Practical tip: pick the post whose essential paper you can put on the table on day one of document verification. A B.Tech without the named ITI or Wireman certificate will not be recast as Electrician or Machinist.

Documents Required

Keep self-attested scans ready. Each portal bundle has a 500 KB cap, and all certificates in that bundle go into one PDF.

1. Aadhaar (mandatory). Valid driving licence (mandatory for Junior Driver). Caste / EWS / PwBD / Ex-SM papers where applicable.
2. Essential qualification marksheets (all semesters or consolidated) and passing/degree / ITI certificate.
3. Class 10 marksheet and certificate; Class 12 marksheet and certificate; university CGPA-to-percentage conversion norms if you entered a percentage from a grade.
4. Experience certificates showing date of appointment, date of relieving and nature of duties, signed and stamped.
5. Proof of nature of duties/roles, last three months’ salary slips if applicable, and NOC if you work in Government, PSU, autonomous body or a nationalised bank.

Document alert: OBC-NCL must be a current-year certificate issued on or after 01 April 2026, plus the non-creamy-layer declaration as on the cut-off date. Ex-SM papers must show tenure issued by the competent authority. Experience that does not spell out the nature of duties is a frequent DV rejection on field posts.

Service Conditions

Probation is one year from joining and can be extended by up to one more year. During probation, the company may discharge you without notice. Confirmation requires a written order after the assessment report; it is not automatic.

Posting can be any MECL project, office or establishment in India, or overseas if the company so decides. Character and antecedent verification is mandatory. Joining time is normally 30 days from acceptance of the offer and may be stretched to three months on written request. If you neither accept nor join in time, the offer lapses.

Internal MECL staff in the immediate lower scale for at least one year on the cut-off date may apply without fee. There is no relaxation in qualification or experience for them.

What Happens After Selection?

1. MECL publishes shortlists only under the Careers tab. Download your own call letter from email or the website; the company will not post a paper letter.
2. You attend the written test at Nagpur, then document verification if you clear the cut-off, then the qualifying skill or trade test.
3. A merit list is drawn on written-test marks among those found Suitable in the trade test and clear at DV. An offer of appointment follows, subject to vacancy and the reservation roster.
4. You complete a Government medical examination (colour vision and night vision are mandatory for the six field/driving posts listed above) and police verification.
5. You join on the stated date, start one-year probation, and are posted to a project or office. Confirmation comes only after a written order. NPS, PF, medical insurance, and cafeteria perks start as per joining rules.

There is no service bond amount in this advertisement. Leaving during probation is possible because the company can also discharge you during that year.
