Eligibility – Education, Age & Domicile

Education: Intermediate from the Uttarakhand Board of School Education or U.P. Board, or an equivalent exam recognised by the Government, plus the shorthand/typing speeds in the table. PTCUL Grade-3 needs a UGC-recognised university qualification (BA / B.Sc / B.Com or equivalent). UJALA needs the extra one-year certificate and English shorthand at 100 wpm.

Mandatory vs preferred: Intermediate + prescribed speeds are mandatory for PA seats. A graduate or postgraduate qualification is only preferential.

What Is the Personal Assistant Salary in Uttarakhand?

Pay follows the 7th CPC matrix used by the Government of Uttarakhand. Figures below are indicative in-hand using DA near 55% (2026 central/state aligned rate), HRA 20% for Y-class cities such as Dehradun and 10% for most Z-class hill stations, plus standard NPS (10% of basic + DA). Other usual state benefits after joining: DA revisions, annual increment, medical facility as per department rules, leave as per Uttarakhand service rules, and NPS. Pension under the old OPS is not the default for new state joiners.

Correction from 17–19 October 2026 is one-time. Name, parents’ name, date of birth and exam centre cannot be edited.

One application per advertised post. If more than one application is submitted for the same post, all such applications will be rejected. Fee paid on a rejected duplicate is not adjusted.

Serving Central or State Government employees should keep an NOC / permission ready to produce at document verification or joining if the appointing department asks for it.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Filing the form when your Hindi shorthand is still below 80 wpm. The skill test is only qualifying, but failing it ends the candidature after you have already cleared the written paper.
• Sending two forms for the same post. Both are rejected.
• Treating English shorthand as enough for the 92 standard PA seats. Those seats demand Hindi 80 wpm.
• Applying for Stenographer Grade-2 without three years’ relevant experience.

How Are Personal Assistants and Stenographers Selected?

Selection is a chain, not a single event.

1. Written competitive examination (merit stage): objective / OMR paper, 100 marks, 2 hours, syllabus linked to the educational standard of the post. Negative marking is one-fourth of the marks of that question. Leaving a question blank has no penalty. Marking two options counts as wrong.
2. Shortlisting: up to four times the vacancies, from written merit, provided you also clear the minimum written cut-off.
3. Qualifying typing and shorthand/dictation test: speeds as per the post. Marks of this stage are not added to merit. Fail here, and you drop out even with a high written score.
4. Document verification against the original certificates.
