Final merit is the shorthand skill test, not the online exam. The High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur, has invited online applications for 418 regular posts in the establishments of the District and Sessions Courts of Madhya Pradesh. Advertisement No. 666/परीक्षा/2026 is dated 06 October 2026.
The seats are Stenographer Grade-II (69), Stenographer Grade-III (299), Stenographer Grade-III (Court Manager Staff) (20) and Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing) (30). Forms open on 06 October 2026 at 12:00 noon and close on 27 October 2026 at 5:00 PM; fee included. Posting is in district courts, not in the High Court registry.
Every post needs a graduation in any discipline, a valid CPCT score card, a recognised shorthand certificate, and a one-year computer diploma or an equivalent qualification the advertisement accepts. The High Court conducts this recruitment for the district judiciary, which is the subordinate-court wing of the state justice system.
⚠️ Application Alerts
- The post you select cannot be changed after you submit. Grade-II needs Hindi shorthand at 100 wpm; Grade-III needs 80 wpm Hindi; Assistant Grade-III needs 80 wpm English.
- The edit window (30 October 2026, 12:00 noon, to 01 November 2026, 5:00 PM) does not allow a change of photograph, signature or post.
- MP OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates pay no examination fee, but the portal and other charges of ₹743.40 are still payable. The advertisement says this portal charge is not refunded in any case.

What Posts Are Available? – MPHC Vacancy & Eligibility 2026
Stenographer Grade-III is the bulk of this drive: 299 of 418 seats. Grade-II is the higher shorthand bar, at 69 seats. The two smaller posts, Court Manager Staff (20) and Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing) (30), are printed as unreserved only.
A category-wise roster with UR, SC, ST, OBC and EWS columns is printed with the post table. Several cells in this scan were not clear enough to reproduce without a wrong figure, so they are not copied here. Women, ex-servicemen and disability shares are the horizontal percentages in clause 2. Confirm your category column from the official PDF before you rely on a reserved seat.
| Post Name | Vacancies | Qualification | Pay (7th pay matrix, as printed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stenographer Grade-II | 69 | Graduation, any discipline; CPCT scorecard; Hindi shorthand 100 wpm; one-year computer diploma or accepted equivalent | ₹28,700–₹91,300 |
| Stenographer Grade-III | 299 | Graduation, any discipline; CPCT score card; Hindi shorthand 80 wpm; one-year computer diploma or accepted equivalent | ₹25,300–₹80,500 |
| Stenographer Grade-III (Court Manager Staff) | 20 | Same as Stenographer Grade-III. Seats are unreserved. | ₹19,500–₹62,000 |
| Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing) | 30 | Graduation, any discipline; CPCT score card; English shorthand 80 wpm; one-year computer diploma or accepted equivalent | ₹19,500–₹62,000 |
The advertisement also prints a 6th CPC line of ₹5,200–₹20,200 plus grade pay for these posts. The grade-pay digits are not clear in this scan, so they are not quoted. Use the pay-matrix figures above, which are printed in the note under the table.
What Is the Age Limit?
Age is reckoned as on 01 January 2026. The minimum is 18 years for every post.
| Group (as printed) | Age |
|---|---|
| Male candidates, unreserved and EWS, including men from outside Madhya Pradesh | 18–40 years |
| Male and female candidates of Madhya Pradesh who are OBC, SC or ST; all women; all Divyang candidates; employees of the Government, a corporation, a board or an autonomous body of Madhya Pradesh; Nagar Sainik | 18–45 years |
| Ex-servicemen | Defence service period is deducted, and the age after deduction must not exceed the applicable maximum by more than 3 years |
| Contract employees with 5 or more years of service | Relaxation equal to the service period, subject to a maximum age of 55 years |
A candidate born on 01 January 1986 turns 40 on 01 January 2026. That candidate is inside the 40-year band for a male UR or EWS applicant. A candidate born on 01 January 1985 turns 41 on the same cut-off and is over that band. Use our Age Eligibility Calculator to check instantly.
What Is the Salary? – MPHC Stenographer 2026
The advertisement prints the 7th pay matrix, not a take-home figure.
| Post | Pay matrix as printed |
|---|---|
| Stenographer Grade-II | ₹28,700–₹91,300 |
| Stenographer Grade-III | ₹25,300–₹80,500 |
| Stenographer Grade-III (Court Manager Staff) | ₹19,500–₹62,000 |
| Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing) | ₹19,500–₹62,000 |
Dearness allowance, house rent and other allowances are not calculated here. This is a Madhya Pradesh district-court scale. A central take-home figure would not match the state’s own rates. The appointment order states the actual pay.
During the two-year probation, the advertisement does not print a separate trainee wage. It says the appointment is on probation for two years under the recruitment rules.
What Is the Application Fee?
| Who pays | Examination fee | Portal and other charges | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unreserved candidates, and candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh | ₹200 | ₹743.40 | ₹943.40 |
| OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates who are original residents of Madhya Pradesh, and all Divyang candidates | Nil | ₹743.40 | ₹743.40 |
Payment is online by debit card, credit card, payment wallet or UPI. The advertisement says the portal and other charges are not refunded in any case, and the examination fee is not refunded either. An application cannot be treated as withdrawn to recover the fee.
Candidates who qualify the skill test must pay a further portal charge of ₹743.40. That later charge is separate from the application fee.
How to Apply?
- Open the MPHC Stenographer and Assistant 2026 registration form from 06 October 2026, 12:00 noon. If that page does not load, use mphc.gov.in → Recruitment/Result → Online Application Forms/Admit Cards, and select this advertisement.
- Register with one mobile number and one email. The advertisement allows one registration on one mobile number and one email. A user ID and password are sent to both.
- Fill the form. Select only the post for which you hold the matching shorthand certificate. Select district preferences in the order you want. The post cannot be changed after submission.
- Upload a photograph and a signature in the size the advertisement prints. Photograph: 200×300 pixels, 20–50 KB, jpg. Signature: 150×80 pixels, 10–20 KB. Use our Photo & Signature Resizer before upload.
- Pay ₹943.40 or ₹743.40, as applicable, and submit by 27 October 2026, 5:00 PM. Print the confirmation.
The edit window runs from 30 October 2026, 12:00 noon, to 01 November 2026, 5:00 PM. It does not cover photographs, signature or post.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Selecting Stenographer Grade-II with an 80 wpm certificate. The form will not let you change the post later.
- Treating ₹743.40 as optional. Reserved-category candidates of Madhya Pradesh still pay the portal charge. Without it the form is not complete.
- Uploading a CPCT card or a shorthand certificate from a body the Madhya Pradesh Government has not recognised. Clause 6 requires both to be from a recognised agency, board or institution.
- Using a second mobile number for a second application. The advertisement says more than one application may lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Claiming an MP category seat with another state’s caste certificate. Other-state candidates are considered only for unreserved seats, and they pay ₹943.40.

How Are Candidates Selected?
Selection has two stages. Only the skill test decides merit.
- Online preliminary examination: 100 questions, 100 marks, 120 minutes. It is a screening test. These marks are not added to the final merit. There is no negative marking. The paper has five parts of 20 marks each: General Knowledge and General Studies (including Madhya Pradesh), Mathematics and Logical Reasoning, General Hindi, English, and Computer Knowledge.
- Stenography skill test: 100 marks. Dictation, then transcription on a computer. The advertisement describes a dictation of about 400 words in about 5 minutes and about 30 minutes for transcription, on a Remington Gail keyboard. Half a mark is deducted for each error. More than 120 errors means zero. The test language follows the post: Hindi for the stenographer posts, English for Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing).
No interview stage is mentioned in this advertisement. Final merit is category-wise, on the skill test, subject to document verification and the reservation roster.
For the General Awareness section of the preliminary exam, revise with our daily Current Affairs digest (5 October 2026).
The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take
This is a district-court stenographer intake, not a High Court personal-assistant seat and not an SSC Stenographer examination. SSC Stenographer Grade C and D is the other form many shorthand candidates keep open. That exam’s pay, pattern and posting rules are in its own notice. They are not used here. What this advertisement itself makes different is the gate: a valid CPCT card and a recognised shorthand certificate before you can apply, then a skill test that alone sets the merit list.
Best fit: a graduate who already holds a live CPCT scorecard and a Hindi 80 wpm certificate, and who is willing to join a Madhya Pradesh district court on a two-year probation and a three-year bond.
Skip this if: you want a High Court registry posting, you have only an English shorthand certificate, and you apply for a Hindi post, or you cannot arrange ₹2,00,000 if you leave before three years.
Practical tip: lock the post only after you match the certificate speed and language. Grade-II at 100 wpm Hindi, Grade-III at 80 wpm Hindi, Assistant at 80 wpm English. The edit window will not fix a wrong post.

FAQs – MPHC Stenographer 2026
What is the last date to apply for MPHC Stenographer 2026?
27 October 2026, 5:00 PM. The advertisement also opens the form on 06 October 2026 at 12:00 noon. The edit window is later, from 30 October to 01 November 2026, and it does not extend the fee deadline. No extension is printed in the advertisement.
What is the age limit for MPHC Stenographer?
18 to 40 years for male unreserved and EWS candidates, including men from outside Madhya Pradesh. The printed upper age is 45 for Madhya Pradesh OBC, SC and ST candidates, all women, all Divyang candidates, specified Madhya Pradesh government employees, and Nagar Sainik. Age is calculated as on 01 January 2026.
Is there an exam for MPHC Stenographer, or is it interview-based?
Yes, there is an exam. An online preliminary paper of 100 marks screens candidates. A shorthand skill test of 100 marks then decides the merit. No interview is mentioned. Prelims marks are not added to the final list. There is no negative marking in the preliminary paper.
What is the salary of MPHC Stenographer?
The advertisement prints ₹28,700–₹91,300 for Stenographer Grade-II, ₹25,300–₹80,500 for Stenographer Grade-III, and ₹19,500–₹62,000 for Court Manager Staff and Assistant Grade-III. These are pay-matrix figures, not take-home pay. Allowances are in the appointment order.
Can final-year students apply for MPHC 2026?
The advertisement requires the essential qualification to be held, and it assesses eligibility by the rules printed for this recruitment. A candidate who does not yet have the degree, the CPCT card and the shorthand certificate should not assume the form will be accepted. Certificates are checked at document verification.
Is MPHC Stenographer a permanent government job?
This is advertised as a regular appointment on the District and Sessions Court establishment, on two years’ probation, confirmed under the recruitment rules. The advertisement does not use the phrase “permanent government job”. It also says the post is not on the High Court establishment.
Can candidates from other states apply for MPHC recruitment?
Yes. Indian citizens from outside Madhya Pradesh can apply. They are considered only for unreserved seats, and they pay ₹943.40 even if they hold an SC, ST or OBC certificate of another state. Category reservation is for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates.
Where will I be posted if I get selected?
In a District and Sessions Court of Madhya Pradesh, not at the High Court in Jabalpur. District allotment is by counselling from the preferences you enter in the form. The advertisement does not promise a home-district posting.
Is there a bond?
Yes. The advertisement requires a bond of ₹2,00,000 for three years of service. Leaving before that period can lead to recovery under the bond. Probation is a separate condition, printed as two years.
What should I know before applying?
Worth knowing before you apply: the portal charge of ₹743.40 is payable even when the examination fee is nil, and the advertisement says it is not refunded. The post you tick is locked after submission. Court Manager Staff and Assistant Grade-III seats are unreserved, so a reserved-category certificate does not create a separate quota on those 50 seats.
Before You Apply: Quick Self-Check
- You meet the age band as on 01 January 2026, and you hold the degree, CPCT card and the correct shorthand certificate.
- You are comfortable with a regular district-court appointment on two years’ probation and a three-year bond of ₹2,00,000.
- You can produce the original certificates at document verification.
- You are prepared for the stenography skill test. That stage alone decides the merit list.
- You accept posting in an allotted District and Sessions Court of Madhya Pradesh.
