[Official] Sanchar Saathi Portal Crosses 30 Crore Visits

The Department of Telecommunications said the Sanchar Saathi portal, launched in May 2023, has recorded more than 30 crore visits. The dashboard listed 60.96 lakh lost or stolen handsets blocked, 37.85 lakh traced and over 14 lakh recovered. Over 4 crore requests to check mobile connections in a citizen’s name were resolved. [Official] TRAI Releases Telecom Indicators for 2025–26

TRAI released The Indian Telecom Services – Yearly Performance Indicators for 2025–26. Internet subscribers rose from 969.10 million at the end of March 2025 to 1,092.79 million at the end of March 2026, a yearly growth of 12.76 per cent. Broadband subscribers were 1,065.88 million. Total telecom subscribers were 1,330.58 million, up 10.81 per cent. Tele-density was 93.26 per cent (urban 151.47 per cent, rural 60.46 per cent). Wireless ARPU per month rose from ₹174.46 in 2024–25 to ₹180.73 in 2025–26.

[Official] TDB Signs ₹130 Crore Support for BigEndian AI Vision Chip

The Technology Development Board, under the Department of Science and Technology, signed an agreement with Bengaluru-based BigEndian Semiconductors for ₹130 crore under the Research Development and Innovation Fund. Support is in the form of optional convertible debt. Project VeerAI has a total cost of ₹260 crore and aims to move a camera-focused AI Vision system-on-chip from technology readiness level TRL-5 to TRL-9. The first use case is secure CCTV and surveillance, with a later roadmap for defence, automotive, industrial and medical uses.

[Official] ITRA Reports Ayurveda-Yoga Results on Childhood Bedwetting

The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Ayush, reported an eight-week study of about 38 children aged 6–14. Children given Ayurvedic medicine alone showed about 38 per cent improvement in bedwetting frequency. Those also practising Utkatasana, Ardha-Shalabhasana, Bhujangasana and Shavasana showed about 70 per cent improvement. The medicine arm used Medhya Rasayana Churna twice daily with milk.

[Official] Scheduled operation: Rajnath Singh to launch Fleet Support Ship-1 on 6 October

The Ministry of Defence said Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will launch Fleet Support Ship-1, lay the keel of FSS-5, and inaugurate upgraded Slipway-4 and a 300-tonne Goliath crane at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam, on 6 October 2026. The slipway upgrade is meant to handle vessels of up to 45,000 DWT. FSS-1 is the first of five 43,500-tonne ships for the Indian Navy, for replenishment at sea. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. [Official] Swiss President Parmelin’s Visit Yields Mobility and Transport Pacts

Swiss President Guy Parmelin held talks in New Delhi on the first day of a state visit. The Prime Minister’s Office listed a Migration and Mobility Partnership MoU, an Agreement on the Exchange of Young Professionals, and a transport-and-mobility MoU between Switzerland’s economic department and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The mobility MoU provides multiple-entry visas of up to five years, with stays of up to six months, and renewable one-year student permits. The young-professionals pact covers 300 persons a year each way, which may rise to 500. In the joint statement, PM Modi recalled the India-EFTA TEPA targets of $100 billion investment and 1 million direct jobs over 15 years. A Prosperity Summit with India-EFTA business leaders is scheduled for 7 October.

According to The Indian Express, an Indian-born female cheetah, KJP21, aged 32 months, gave birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park on 5 October after mating with a male brought from Botswana. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said the births take India’s cheetah population to 60, of which 41 were born in India, and that the cubs begin a Botswana lineage in India. [Official] CAQM Deploys Flying Squads Against Stubble Burning in 34 Districts

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas said flying squads are deployed in 34 districts of Punjab and Haryana from 1 October to 30 November 2026. [Official] Dibrugarh Flags Off First International Cargo to Bangladesh Since Independence

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off barge DLB Patkai, pushed by tug Kushal Konwar, from Bogibeel Terminal, Dibrugarh, with 540 metric tons of methanol. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined virtually. The cargo, produced by Assam Petro-Chemicals Ltd at Namrup, is bound for Pangaon Port, Dhaka. The voyage uses about 768 km of National Waterway-2 on the Brahmaputra, then the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route, about 1,300 km in all to Narayanganj. PIB described it as the first cargo from upper Assam to a foreign port since 1947.
