[Official] Ongoing event: Vice-President Opens 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan delivered the inaugural address at the 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave in New Delhi on the theme “Resilience in an Age of Flux.” He cited more than 590 million Jan Dhan accounts as of August 2026, GST registrations rising from about 6.65 million in 2017 to 16.5 million in May 2026, about 9.2 million self-help groups, and over 34.6 million Lakhpati Didis. [Official] MeitY Reports India’s First 5.56 km Free-Space QKD Link
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology reported that QNu Labs, with BISAG-N and IIT Gandhinagar, had demonstrated India’s first free-space Quantum Key Distribution link over 5.56 km. The field trial was on the night of 27–28 September, between BISAG-N and IIT Gandhinagar; the ministry release is dated 3 October. The trial recorded a quantum bit error rate below 5% and generated keys at 230–260 bits per second. Those keys were used with BISAG-N’s Vedic Kavach platform. The setup paired QNu Labs’ hardware device Armos with software-based post-quantum cryptography.

[Official] Navpreet Singh Deported from Türkiye in Narcotics Case
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said agencies had secured the deportation of alleged narco-trafficking accused Navpreet Singh from Türkiye, and that he was brought back to India on 3 October and jailed in drug-trafficking and other cases. [Official] Scheduled release: GIB Rewilding Process Starts at Jaisalmer
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, joining by video, initiated on 3 October the process to release two captive-bred Great Indian Bustards from a soft-release facility into the wild. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said the release itself was to be undertaken the next day at Desert National Park, Jaisalmer. Facilities at Sam and Ramdevra house 97 birds: 40 from wild-laid eggs and 57 captive-bred. Of these, 86 are kept for captive reproduction, and 11 are earmarked for release. Captive breeding produced 24 live chicks in 2025 and 29 in 2026.
