What Is the Administrative Officer Salary in Public Sector Insurance?

Figures after NPS and tax are estimates based on the notified metro gross of ₹1,10,000. Actual in-hand varies with DA rate, posting city HRA, leased accommodation and tax regime. Verify from the appointment letter. Model a similar officer’s CTC on our Bank Salary Calculator.

Other benefits listed in the notification: Gratuity, Leave Travel Subsidy, medical benefits, Group Personal Accident Insurance, National Pension System, and leased accommodation as per company rules.

During probation, you must pass the non-life Licentiate Examination of the Insurance Institute of India. Confirmation waits on that pass.

How to Apply?

Applications are accepted only online from 08 September 2026 to 28 September 2026. No offline or email form is valid.

  1. Open the UIIC official website → go to Recruitment → click Apply Online for Administrative Officer (Scale I) 2026 (the Apply tab is scheduled to go live on 08 September 2026).
  2. Choose New Registration. Enter name, mobile and email. Note the Provisional Registration Number and password.
  3. Fill in personal, category and qualification details. Select one discipline: Generalist or Hindi Officer.
  4. Upload photograph (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, colour, light background), signature in black ink, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration. Resize files with our Photo & Signature Resizer before upload.
  5. Preview every field. Category, discipline and date of birth cannot be edited after final submission.
  6. Pay the fee/service charge online and submit.
  7. Download the confirmation page and e-receipt. Keep the registered email and mobile active till joining.

Handwritten declaration (English, not in CAPITAL letters) follows the standard text generated on the form: you declare that the information is correct and that you will produce supporting documents when asked.

Apply once. If more than one application is submitted for the same post, only the last submitted application will be considered. Fee paid on an earlier form is not transferred or refunded.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Applying for both Generalist and Hindi Officer. The notification cancels multiple registrations.
  2. Treating 59.99% as 60%. Fractions below 60% are rejected. Convert CGPA with the university certificate, not an unofficial calculator alone.
  3. Waiting till 28 September evening. Server load on PSU insurance portals is routine on the last day.
  4. Using a ration card or Learner’s Driving Licence as photo ID. The notification lists PAN, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter ID or bank passbook with photograph.
  5. Assuming a metro first posting. Western and Southern zone offices take most of these vacancies, and the first five years are non-negotiable.

How Are Administrative Officers Selected?

Selection is a three-stage process. Marks alone do not equal appointment.

  1. Tier I Prelims (qualifying) → shortlist for Mains
  2. Tier II Mains (objective + descriptive) → shortlist for interview (about three times the vacancies)
  3. Interview → final merit, then document verification and medical fitness → offer

No stage after Prelims is skipped. Prelims marks do not enter the final merit list.

Prelims (common for both streams)

100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes. Sectional timing. Negative marking: one-fourth of the marks assigned to the question.

Why Does United India Insurance Company Matter?

United India Insurance Company Limited is a public sector general insurance company wholly owned by the Government of India. Its head office is in Chennai. As of 31 March 2026, the company reported gross premium of more than ₹21,400 crore and more than 1,200 offices and service hubs across the country.

The role is a front-line officer job in underwriting, claims, accounts, operations or official language work, depending on stream and posting. Candidates searching “UIIC career”, “UIIC jobs” or “PSU insurance officer vacancy” are usually comparing this cadre with NIACL AO, Oriental Insurance, National Insurance and New India Assurance officer drives.

UIIC AO भर्ती searches also spike when graduates want a Class I PSU insurance post without going through IBPS PO. The honest downside: first posting is company-driven, often outside your home state, and the five-year bond plus Licentiate exam make an early exit expensive.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

UIIC AO 2026 sits in the same shopping cart as NIACL AO and other public sector general insurance Scale I drives, not next to IBPS SO IT or SBI SO. Pay after the latest GI wage revision is now close to that of a junior management bank officer in a metro. The process is still UIIC’s own exam, so an IBPS score will not substitute.

Best fit: graduates with 60% who can live with a five-year bond, a one-year probation tied to the III Licentiate paper, and a first posting in the West or South. Hindi postgraduates who already type in Inscript should treat the 25 Hindi Officer seats as a lower-competition side door, not an afterthought.

Skip this if you need a home-state guarantee, want to switch employers within two years, or your degree result will come after 30 June 2026. Also skip if you are already a UIIC Scale I AO.

Practical tip: Treat Prelims as a filter only. Generalist merit is Mains objective plus interview. Build Financial Sector GA and Computer to a scoring range early; those two papers decide ranks more than another 50 puzzles.

Expect roughly 6–9 months from application to joining if the October–November exam calendar holds. Growth after confirmation typically follows the Scale I → II → III officer channel used across PSGI companies, subject to vacancies and internal norms.

What Documents Are Required for PSU Insurance Jobs?

Keep originals and self-attested copies ready for interview/document verification:

  • Printout of the submitted application and fee e-receipt
  • Valid photo ID: PAN, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter ID, or bank passbook with photograph
  • Class 10 certificate for date of birth
  • Degree / Master’s marksheets and passing certificate dated on or before 30 June 2026
  • CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate if applicable
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD) in the prescribed format, valid as on the relevant date
  • Ex-servicemen discharge book/service certificate if claiming relaxation
  • NOC / permission letter for serving government or PSU employees (produce when asked)
  • Recent colour photograph matching the uploaded file

Document alert: OBC candidates need a Non-Creamy Layer certificate, not a caste certificate alone. EWS appointment stays provisional till the Income & Asset certificate is verified.

Service Conditions

Probation is one year, extendable at the company’s discretion. UIIC may terminate service during probation or extended probation without notice if the officer is found unsuitable.

Before joining, you sign an undertaking to serve five years, including probation. If you resign before the bond ends, liquidated damages equal actual gross salary paid, capped at one year’s gross. You also pay ₹35,000 towards onboarding and integration costs. After one year, damages reduce in proportion to service completed after probation.

You must pass the Insurance Institute of India non-life Licentiate exam during probation. Failure within the extended probation can end the appointment.

Posting can be anywhere in India. This advertisement’s vacancies are mainly in Western and Southern zones. Initial posting is for a minimum of five years. Requests for a preferred location are not entertained in that period. Courts at Chennai have jurisdiction over disputes.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. UIIC publishes the interview shortlist, then a provisional select list after the 75:25 merit.
  2. You attend document verification and a pre-employment medical examination.
  3. On being found fit, you receive the offer and sign the five-year service undertaking plus ₹35,000 onboarding clause.
  4. Joining is as Administrative Officer (Scale I) on one-year probation. Theoretical and practical training is arranged as prescribed.
  5. You appear for the III non-life Licentiate examination. Confirmation follows only after passing and satisfactory probation.
  6. First office allotment is company-driven, with a five-year stay at the allotted station. Transfers after that follow company rules, not a candidate preference form.

Use our NPS Pension Calculator only as an indicative long-term view. UIIC service is under NPS as stated in the notification.

FAQs – UIIC AO Recruitment 2026

What is the last date to apply for UIIC AO 2026?

28 September 2026. Fee payment closes the same day. No extension has been announced as of 07 September 2026. Late or offline forms are not accepted.

What is the age limit for UIIC AO?

21 to 30 years as of 30 June 2026 for UR. OBC (NCL) gets 3 extra years, SC/ST 5, PwBD 10. Confirmed PSGI staff get 8 years. Cumulative age cannot exceed 45 years.

Is there an exam for UIIC AO, or is it interview-based?

Yes. There is an online Prelims, an online Mains with a descriptive paper, and an interview. Prelims is only a qualifier. Final merit uses Mains and interview in the 75:25 ratio.

What is the salary of a UIIC Administrative Officer?

Basic pay starts at ₹82,485. UIIC quotes a metro gross of about ₹1,10,000 a month. Indicative in-hand after NPS and tax is roughly ₹95,000–₹1,02,000 in X-class cities, depending on DA and HRA.

Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for UIIC 2026?

No. The degree or Master’s must be obtained on or before 30 June 2026. A result declared after that date does not meet the essential qualification.

Is UIIC AO a permanent government job?

Yes, this is a regular Scale I service in a Government of India PSU insurer, with NPS, gratuity and other company benefits after confirmation. It is not a contractual or apprenticeship seat. A five-year bond still applies.

Can candidates from other states apply for UIIC recruitment?

Yes. This is an all-India open-market recruitment. No state domicile is required. Nationality rules in the notification cover Indian citizens and a few specified categories with an eligibility certificate.

Where will I be posted if I get selected for UIIC AO?

Anywhere in India. This cycle’s vacancies are substantially in Western and Southern zones. The first posting lasts at least five years. You do not choose the station.

Is there a bond if I join as Administrative Officer?

Yes. You undertake to serve five years, including probation. Early resignation attracts liquidated damages up to one year’s gross salary plus ₹35,000 onboarding cost. After one year, the damages taper with service completed.

Is there negative marking in this exam?

Yes. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question are deducted for each wrong answer in objective tests. Unanswered questions carry no penalty. Sectional cut-offs also apply.

What are the disadvantages of a PSU general insurance officer job?

The honest downside is mobility. First posting is company-driven, often far from home, locked for five years, with a costly bond if you leave. Confirmation also depends on clearing the III Licentiate paper during probation.

How much do administrative officers earn in public sector insurance companies?

Across PSGI companies, the revised Scale I basic is in the ₹80,000-plus band. Metro gross around ₹1.10 lakh is now the published benchmark at UIIC. In-hand is lower after NPS. Bank PO CTC is the closest civilian comparison.

Is a PSU insurance officer post better than an IBPS PO for graduates?

It depends. UIIC AO skips IBPS but adds a company exam, a Licentiate paper and a five-year bond. IBPS PO offers bank preference and a larger vacancy pool. If you want general insurance work and can accept zone posting, this drive is the direct route.

Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?

  • You meet the age and educational criteria as of 30 June 2026.
  • You are comfortable with Regular Government Service, a one-year probation and a five-year bond.
  • You can arrange all required documents and certificates before the interview and medical.
  • You are prepared for the most demanding stage: Mains objective (and Professional Knowledge if Hindi Officer) plus interview.
  • You understand the posting pattern (all India, West and South heavy, five-year initial stay) and will serve at the allotted office.
