What Posts Are Available? – MPESB Vacancy & Eligibility 2026

Both cadres share one written paper and one application. You select cadre preference inside that single form. Police Headquarters may change vacancy numbers. The competent authority can post you in any unit or branch.

How to read the numbers: 7,500 is the official total. Horizontal buckets (Open, Ex-servicemen 10%, Home Guard 15%, Female 35% on non-SAF) sit inside each vertical category. The printed rulebook table also carries a 13% backlog-style column. Use the cadre totals below for planning; confirm your exact category cell from the Annexure pages of the official rulebook PDF before claiming a seat.

Vertical reservation used in the advertisement: UR 27%, OBC 27%, SC 16%, ST 20%, EWS 10%. Non-MP domicile candidates sit only in UR Open.

Constable (GD) – Special Armed Force: 700 posts (Male only)

What Is the Constable Salary in Madhya Pradesh?

Pay scale in the rulebook: ₹19,500–₹62,000. Appointments on or after 01 January 2005 come under the Defined Contributory Pension System (NPS). Other allowances sanctioned by the state government are payable with the scale.

MP General Administration Department circular dated 12 December 2019 applies a stipend on minimum pay during the first three years:

YearWhat you actually draw
Year 1 (probation)70% of minimum pay (₹13,650 of the ₹19,500 floor) + admissible allowances
Year 280% of minimum pay + allowances
Year 390% of minimum pay + allowances
After confirmationFull cell of ₹19,500–₹62,000 + DA + HRA + other police allowances

Indicative in-hand (not an official slip):
After confirmation, a Constable in a Y-class city often takes home about ₹27,000–₹32,000/month (basic ₹19,500 + current state DA + HRA 8–16% + uniform / transport-type allowances, minus NPS 10% and standard deductions). Year-1 take-home is lower because only 70% of the floor is paid. Figures follow the MP 7th Pay Commission pattern; use the 7th CPC Salary Calculator for an estimate. Official pay is whatever your appointment order and current DA / HRA orders say.

Promotion path inside the force is typically Constable → Head Constable → ASI → SI → Inspector, through seniority and departmental exams.

What Is the Application Fee?

ComponentUnreserved / other-stateSC / ST / OBC / EWS of MP (domicile)

Police Department examination fee₹200₹100
MP Online portal fee (authorised kiosk)₹60₹60

No examination fee is charged for direct-recruitment backlog vacancies, as stated in the rulebook. Pay online or in cash at an MP Online kiosk. Keep the receipt. Fee paid on an extra / rejected form is not automatically reused.

How to Apply?

Applications are accepted only online from 22 September 2026 to 06 October 2026 through MP Online. MPESB does not accept paper forms.

Apply once, select both eligible cadres. The rulebook requires a single application. Mark SAF and / or Non-SAF inside that form if you meet the conditions. Do not file two forms for the two cadres.

  1. Complete Aadhaar / eKYC profile on MP Online or esb.mponline.gov.in before 22 September 2026. Profiles without eKYC are blocked.
  2. On 22 September 2026, open MP Online → Citizen Services → Application → ESB link for Constable (GD) 2026.
  3. Read the rulebook instructions. Click Continue.
  4. Fill in personal, educational, employment exchange, domicile and category details. Select cadre preference.
  5. Upload photo (colour, white background, not older than 3 months), signature and the two-line handwritten declaration. Resize files with the Photo & Signature Resizer so the portal does not reject them.
  6. Upload every eligibility certificate that matches the preferences you ticked.
  7. Pay the fee (self-login ₹20 portal charge, kiosk ₹60).
  8. Submit before 11:59 PM on 06 October 2026. Download the application printout.
  9. Use the correction window from 22 September to 11 October 2026 for allowed fields. Do not wait until 11 October to apply; correction is not a fresh application.

MP Online helpline for portal errors: 0755-6720200 (Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–8:00 PM; Sat–Sun 9:30 AM–6:30 PM). Kiosk issues: 0755-6644830–832.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Filing two applications for SAF and Non-SAF. One form only. Extra forms create fee loss and “last form considered” confusion.
  2. No live MP employment-exchange registration. The rulebook makes this compulsory. Renew it before you apply.
  3. Women ticking SAF. The portal may still let you click it. SAF is male-only. That preference will die at scrutiny.
  4. Claiming ESM age relaxation from BSF / CRPF / ITBP service. The rulebook denies that relaxation to those forces.
  5. Home Guard with under 3 years’ active service applying under the HG quota, or expecting written-exam exemption without the 3-year condition.
  6. Other-state candidates picking reserved category or 38-year age. You are UR Open, max 33.
  7. Waiting for a separate “detailed advertisement.” This rulebook is the detailed notification.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is a chain, not a single exam.

  1. Online written test (Stage 1, MPESB) – 100 marks, Hindi MCQ, 2 hours, no negative marking.
  2. Shortlist for PET – about seven times the vertical-category vacancies, by cut-off percentile. Candidates tied at that percentile are all called, even if the count crosses 7×. One common percentile is used for SAF and Non-SAF. No separate percentile for horizontal categories.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (Stage 2, Police Department) – 100 marks. Minimum 30 marks out of 100. PET marks are added to the written score for the final merit list.
  4. Physical Measurement Test – height and chest as per cadre table. Fail PMT, and you are out, regardless of written marks.
  5. Document verification + medical + character verification – at dates fixed by the department. Absence cancels candidature.
  6. Final merit – written (normalised if multi-shift) + PET, subject to roster, preferences and medical fitness. Waiting list stays valid up to one year or the next list, as per GAD order dated 10 October 2016.

Home Guard quota candidates who are exempt from the written paper are called for PET at 7× their reserved seats. Their merit is PET marks + service-weightage marks (5 / 10 / 15).

Priority classes listed in the rulebook (recent India-Pakistan conflict next of kin, certain demobilised ESM, surplus census / election staff, NCC “C” certificate and others) receive 5% extra marks on the written score.

Normalisation, if the CBT runs in many shifts, uses MPESB’s Normalised Equi-Percentile method described in the English appendix of the rulebook.

Why Does Madhya Pradesh Police Matter?

Madhya Pradesh Police is the state’s civil police and armed reserve under the Home (Police) Department. Constable GD is the ground rank that staffs police stations, traffic points, district lines and Special Armed Force companies. Postings listed in the rulebook run across district units and Government Railway Police at Indore, Jabalpur and Bhopal.

The board that tests you is MPESB (formerly PEB), sitting at Chayan Bhawan, Bhopal. Appointment, training and discipline stay with Police Headquarters. That split matters: MPESB only ranks you; the department decides unit, branch and later transfer.

Also Read: CBI Special Public Prosecutor Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for Lucknow, Jabalpur, Ghaziabad & Coimbatore Courts

Candidates search this recruitment because it is a regular state-government police job after Class 10 (Class 8 for ST), with an NPS pension account and a published promotion ladder. They also search “MP Police constable female vacancy” because 2,380 seats are horizontally reserved for women in the district force.

The honest downside: you will not be posted in your home district; you must complete five years in the first unit before seeking a transfer, and the department can move you to EOW, Lokayukta Police or even an out-of-state assignment without your consent. Shift work, parade and public-order duty are the job, not an optional extra. Read more under Madhya Pradesh government jobs and police & defence openings.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

Hold this notification next to Uttar Pradesh Police Constable and Chhattisgarh Police Constable, not next to SSC GD. Those are the tabs a 10th-pass Hindi-belt candidate actually keeps open. UP Police usually treats PET as qualifying and ranks on the written paper. MPESB does the opposite mix: PET is 100 marks on the final merit, so a strong runner can overtake a higher CBT score, and a weak PET can sink a good paper. Chhattisgarh’s recent cycles have been smaller and more district-locked. MP offers 7,500 seats in one statewide list, but it also locks you out of your home district.

Best fit: MP-domicile men who can clear 168 cm and score 800 m, and MP-domicile women targeting the 2,380 non-SAF seats. Home Guards with five years or more should treat this as a separate door: no CBT, service marks already in the bag. ST candidates who stopped at Class 8 remain eligible; that route is easy to miss if you only read aggregator headlines that say “12th pass.”

Who should skip: Anyone unwilling to leave the home district or to serve five years in the first unit. Other-state graduates hunting a reserved seat. Candidates who need PwBD reservation. Women whose only interest is SAF. Applicants who want Year-1 full Level pay; you start on 70% of the floor.

Practical tip: Treat PET as half the exam. A 40-mark 800 m plus a stable long jump is worth as much as the entire science-and-arithmetic section. Start timed 800 m practice now, and get height/chest measured at a government hospital before you pay the fee. If you are a Home Guard, compute your 5 / 10 / 15 service marks and confirm the three-year active-service date on 06 October 2026 before choosing that quota.

What Documents Are Required?

Keep originals plus scans ready. Certificates must be dated on or before 06 October 2026.

  • Class 8 / 10 / 12 marksheet for date of birth and qualification
  • MP domicile certificate (if claiming reservation or age relaxation)
  • Caste / EWS certificate in the prescribed MP format
  • Live employment-exchange registration proof
  • Home Guard service certificate with active-service dates (quota applicants)
  • ESM discharge book and domicile proof (quota applicants)
  • Vikram Award / inter-caste marriage registration and caste certificates, if used for age
  • Transgender Certificate of Identity from the District Magistrate, if applicable
  • NOC / prior permission for serving government employees
  • Colour photo (white background, under 3 months), signature, handwritten declaration
  • Photo ID for the exam: Voter ID, PAN, Aadhaar, driving licence or passport

Document alert: Employment exchange “live” status lapses. Print a fresh slip in September. Inter-caste relaxation needs the marriage registered before the application date. ESM who already used the ESM quota to enter any government job cannot use the horizontal ESM box again.

Service Conditions

  • Group C operational posts. Vacancy count can rise or fall.
  • Cadre allotment follows your preference and merit. Unit allotment follows department need.
  • No home-district posting.
  • Minimum five years in the first unit before transfer eligibility.
  • After appointment, you may be sent to other police branches or other MP departments, and outside the state, without a consent clause.
  • Two-child rule as printed in Chapter 1.
  • NPS for those appointed on or after 01 January 2005.
  • Joining date in the appointment letter is binding. Missing medical, DV or character verification cancels the offer.
  • Government employees removed on disciplinary grounds are ineligible.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. MPESB publishes the written score and the PET shortlist. Police Headquarters then calls you for PET, PMT and document verification at the notified venue.
  2. Combined merit (written + PET, or PET + HG service marks) is drawn against the roster. A waiting list can fill later vacancies for up to one year.
  3. Medical board and character / antecedent verification run in parallel. A fail on vision (6/9 and 6/12 unaided) or colour vision ends the file.
  4. Appointment order names the unit. You report on the printed date and start training at the allotted police training school.
  5. Year 1 to Year 3 you draw 70% / 80% / 90% of minimum pay plus allowances. Confirmation and full cell pay follow successful probation.
  6. First independent posting is not your home district. Plan housing and family movement on that basis. Promotion to Head Constable is the first departmental exam most Constables target.

FAQs – MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026

What is the last date to apply for MP Police Constable 2026?

06 October 2026, till 11:59 PM on MP Online. Correction stays open until 11 October 2026. No extension is printed in the current rulebook. Apply a few days early; kiosk queues rise on the last evening.

What is the age limit for MP Police Constable GD?

18 to 33 years for UR / EWS men and for every other-state applicant, as on 06 October 2026. MP women and MP SC / ST / OBC men go up to 38. Vikram Award and inter-caste marriage add 5 years for MP-domicile candidates only.

Is there an exam for MP Police Constable, or is it interview-based?

Yes. There is a 100-mark Hindi CBT (no negative marking), then a 100-mark PET, PMT, documents and medical. No interview stage is mentioned. Home Guard quota candidates skip the CBT and are ranked on PET plus service marks.

What is the salary of an MP Police Constable?

Pay scale is ₹19,500–₹62,000. Year 1 pays 70% of the ₹19,500 floor plus allowances. After confirmation, indicative in-hand is about ₹27,000–₹32,000 per month depending on DA, city HRA and NPS. NPS applies to appointments on or after 01 January 2005.

Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for this recruitment?

No. Class 10 (or Class 8 for ST) must already be passed, and the certificate must exist on 06 October 2026. Qualification earned after the closing date is not accepted. Do not apply on a “result awaited” basis.

Is MP Police Constable a permanent government job?

Yes. It is a regular Group C service in Madhya Pradesh Police, not a contractual NHM-style post. Pension is through NPS. Confirmation follows the three-year stipend phase and successful probation, as per state rules.

Can candidates from other states apply for MP Police Constable?

Yes, but only in the Unreserved Open box. The maximum age is 33. They get no reservation and no age relaxation. Live MP employment-exchange registration is still required by the rulebook, so complete that step before paying the fee.

Where will I be posted if selected as Constable GD?

Anywhere in Madhya Pradesh except your home district. First unit is locked for five years. Later you can be moved to another branch, EOW, Lokayukta Police or even outside the state without a consent clause.

Is Madhya Pradesh domicile required for MP Police Constable?

For a reserved seat or any age relaxation, yes. Permanent MP domicile proof is mandatory. Non-domicile applicants may still apply as UR Open up to 33 years. Employment-exchange registration in MP is compulsory for everyone.

Is there a physical test for Constable posts in Madhya Pradesh?

Yes. PET is 800 m, long jump and shot put for 100 marks, and those marks join the written score. PMT checks height and chest. Minimum PET score is 30/100. Vision must be 6/9 and 6/12 without glasses.

What are the disadvantages of joining as an MP Police Constable?

The trade-off is simple. You start on 70% pay; you will not serve in your home district, and the first five years are unit-locked. Duty is shift-based field work with medical and PET filters that reject many high written scorers.

Do Home Guards have to take the written exam?

No, not for the 15% Home Guard horizontal seats, if they have three years’ active service as of 06 October 2026. They receive 5, 10 or 15 extra marks for 5, 5–10 or 10+ years and face PET. Open-category Home Guards who want a non-quota seat still sit the CBT.

How much do state police constables earn in central India?

In Madhya Pradesh, the published scale is ₹19,500–₹62,000 with a 70% first-year stipend. Neighbouring state constable jobs sit in a similar ₹25,000–₹35,000 in-hand band after confirmation. Compare PET-on-merit rules before treating the figures as interchangeable.

Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?

  • You hold live MP employment-exchange registration and, if claiming reservation, an MP domicile certificate.
  • You accept Regular Government Service with NPS, Year-1 stipend at 70%, no home-district posting and a five-year unit lock.
