Who Should Apply?

Indian nationals with a regular, full-time engineering degree under the 10+2+4 system (10+3+3 for lateral entry) can apply. A 5-year or 6-year integrated degree in the relevant discipline is also eligible. Correspondence, distance, part-time and e-learning degrees are not eligible.

Aggregate marks, with no rounding off: 60% for UR, OBC-NCL and EWS; 50% for SC, ST and PwBD. All semester or year marks are added. No weight is given to any one semester. If the degree is in CGPA or letter grade, enter the university’s equivalent percentage and carry a conversion certificate to the interview. Use our CGPA to Percentage Calculator only as a check. This calculator provides an indicative estimate. Use the conversion method specified in the notification. The official formula prevails.

Who cannot apply: non-Indian nationals; holders of part-time, correspondence, distance or e-learning degrees; candidates who enrolled in a professional-body technical course on or after 01 June 2013 (enrolment up to 31 May 2013 can be considered equivalent); internal HAL candidates.

Map your degree to one discipline. The certificate must name a branch listed for that discipline, or one of the branches named in Note 1 of clause 3.1.

PwBD: disability of not less than 40%, in a category identified for that discipline (clause 2.4.3). The advertisement prints 06 PwBD-reserved vacancies in one cell of that table. It does not split those 06 seats discipline-wise. Identified categories differ by discipline. Blindness and low vision are listed for Computer Science. Most other disciplines list hearing and specified locomotor disabilities, not visual impairment. Read the discipline row before you claim reservation.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is through interview only (clause 11.1). No written exam, group discussion or trade test is mentioned.

Shortlisting uses aggregate marks in the qualifying course, in the ratio of 1:10 (maximum) to the vacancies in each discipline and category. UR candidates, and reserved-category candidates who do not take any relaxation, are grouped and called in the UR ratio of 1:10. Reserved-category candidates not shortlisted in UR are then called in their own category at 1:10. If marks are equal, the elder candidate is considered first. Meeting the qualification does not by itself give a right to be shortlisted (clause 11.6).

The interview is assessed by a Selection Committee. Candidates should secure at least 50% marks in the interview. Relaxation for SC, ST and PwBD is as per rules. The advertisement does not print the relaxed interview percentage. Final selection against the notified posts is based on interview performance. The shortlist will be on the HAL website. Date, time and venue will be sent by email only.

Before the interview, shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates for every particular in the form. Category certificates, in the prescribed format, are required at interview or document verification.

Provisionally selected candidates, including PwBD, undergo a pre-employment medical examination. The company doctor’s decision is final. No relaxation in health standards is allowed. The numerical medical standards are not printed in this advertisement. Clause 13.4 says candidates should go through the company’s extant pre-employment medical standards. For PwBD, suitability related to disability is decided on the Medical Board report attached to the Special Employment Exchange, and engagement stays provisional until the disability certificate is verified.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

This is a short-term E0 engagement in a Maharatna aerospace and defence PSU, not a regular executive intake. The advertisement itself says the engagement will not confer regular executive status, and that the tenure ends automatically after 3 years with no extension. A candidate comparing this with a regular HAL executive advertisement should read that clause before treating the two as the same career path. This notice does not state how a regular HAL officer advertisement is run.

Best fit: a regular B.E./B.Tech holder, at or above the printed percentage, who wants shop-floor or division exposure in aircraft, engine, avionics or overhaul work for up to 3 years, and can accept posting at Nasik, Koraput, Korwa or Barrackpore as readily as Bengaluru.

Skip this if you need a confirmed cadre post, pension framing, or a city of your choice. Clause 5.3 says no request for change of posting will be entertained after joining. Also skip it if your degree is distance mode, or if your aggregate is under 60% and you are UR, OBC-NCL or EWS.

Practical tip: pick the one discipline whose branch is named on your degree certificate, pay the fee as soon as the form is ready, and do not wait for the last afternoon. Validation can take 48 to 72 hours, and the portal closes at 2:00 PM on 17 October 2026.

What Documents Are Required?

At document verification, before the interview, originals of everything declared in the form:

  • Degree or provisional certificate, and proof of having passed with the minimum aggregate. This proof is required at the interview, tentatively during November 2026 (clause 3.3).
  • Semester-wise marks. Conversion certificate from the university if the degree is in CGPA or letter grade.
  • If a specialisation is required and the certificate does not show it, a certificate from the institute (clause 3.8).
  • OBC-NCL certificate in the prescribed format, not older than 6 months as on 17 October 2026, Central List, non-creamy layer.
  • SC/ST certificate with date of issue. Name spelt as in the Central List.
  • EWS income and asset certificate valid for FY 2026-27, based on FY 2025-26.
  • Disability certificate in the prescribed format, from the competent authority, for at least 40% of an identified disability.
  • NOC, or the employer’s document that an NOC does not apply, for serving government, PSU, armed forces or para-military candidates.
  • Passport-size photograph and signature already uploaded (.jpg, under 100 KB and 50 KB).

Engagement is also subject to verification of caste, income and asset, or disability certificates, and of character and antecedents (clause 14.7).

Service Conditions and What Happens After Selection?

  • At joining, an undertaking is taken that the person has accepted a temporary engagement that ceases after 3 years (clause 5.2).

After selection

  1. Interview performance decides selection against the notified posts, subject to the 50% qualifying mark and the category rules.
  2. Document verification of originals is before the interview for those called. Category and disability certificates are checked again from the issuing authorities.
  3. Pre-employment medical examination. The company doctor’s report is final. No relaxation in health standards is printed.
  4. For selected PwBD candidates, appointment stays provisional until the Medical Board report and disability-certificate verification.
  5. Joining includes the 3-year undertaking. Posting follows organisational need. The term ends at 3 years unless ended earlier on the one-month notice rule.

The advertisement does not print a joining timeline beyond the tentative November 2026 interview.
