UPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor & Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 212 Posts

UPSC APP and Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 notification for 212 posts

Vacancies: 212 · Posts: 7 · Type: Regular Government Service · Mode: Online · Fee: ₹25 (Nil for Women / SC / ST / PwBD) · Apply: 12 September 2026–02 October 2026 (Ladakh: 09 October 2026) · Salary: Level-7 to Level-11 + NPA · Selection: Interview (Recruitment Test if required) · Location: Delhi / Nagpur / UT of Ladakh

Most UPSC Combined Medical Services and Civil Services headlines crowd the internet. Advertisement No. 11/2026 is a quieter, more targeted window: 212 Group A and Group B seats filled by selection, not by a common written exam.

Union Public Service Commission, the constitutional recruiting body under the Government of India, opened this cycle on 10 September 2026. Online forms on upsconline.nic.in start on 12 September 2026. The last date is 02 October 2026 at 6:00 PM for six posts, and 09 October 2026 for the UT of Ladakh law posts.

The mix is unusual. Directorate of Prosecution, Government of NCT of Delhi, alone needs 140 Assistant Public Prosecutors. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare needs 64 Specialist Grade III Assistant Professors in Anatomy and General Medicine. New Delhi Municipal Council needs two Junior Scale specialists. Indian Bureau of Mines needs two Assistant Editors at Nagpur. Administration of UT of Ladakh needs four Public Law Officer / District Litigation Officer / Law Officer posts, open only to Ladakh domiciles.

Pay sits in the 7th CPC matrix from Level-7 to Level-11, with Non-Practising Allowance on the medical posts. Selection is through shortlisting plus interview. A Recruitment Test is used only if applications flood a post.

What Posts Are Available? – UPSC Vacancy & Eligibility 2026

Of 212 seats, 140 sit in one Delhi prosecution cadre. Medical teaching and specialist seats add 66. Editorial and Ladakh law posts are tiny (2 and 4). If you hold an LLB and three years at the Bar, APP is the volume play. If you are an MD in Medicine with teaching time, the 60-seat General Medicine block is the rare CHS teaching opening. Anatomy (4) and the two NDMC specialist seats are narrow and category-locked.

Your qualifying record matters before the interview

There is no default written paper in this advertisement. UPSC first shortlists on essential qualification, desirable qualification and experience. A Recruitment Test is used only if applications for a post are too many. Interview is out of 100. Minimum suitability: UR 50, OBC 45, SC/ST/PwBD 40. A thin teaching or Bar record can keep you off the interview list even if you prepare well for the board.

PwBD alert: Suitability is post-specific. Anatomy is suitable for HH, BL, BA, OL, OA, OLA, CP, LC, DW, AAV, spinal deformity/injury without neurological-limb dysfunction, and specified multiple disabilities, but it is not reserved. General Medicine has 3 reserved PwBD seats, mainly locomotor-linked categories. Do not assume a disability category that is suitable for APP is also suitable for Anatomy. Read the disability table in the official PDF before you pick a vacancy number.

NMC / State Medical Council registration is required for the medical posts. Processing often takes 2–4 weeks. Start now if your certificate is pending.

Who Is Eligible? – Education, Age & Domicile

Indian citizenship is required. Most posts are all-India. The Ladakh law post is restricted to holders of a Tehsildar-issued UT of Ladakh domicile certificate.

Qualifications must be held on the closing date of that post: 02 October 2026 for six posts, 09 October 2026 for Ladakh. UPSC may relax essential qualifications for otherwise well-qualified candidates, and may relax experience for SC/ST where reserved seats may otherwise go vacant. That discretion is recorded in writing. Do not treat it as a right.

What Is the Age Limit?

Age is reckoned on the closing date of the post you choose.

Post NamePrinted maximum age
Assistant Editor30 years (UR), 35 years (SC)
Assistant Public Prosecutor35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)
Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Anatomy)40 years (UR/EWS), 45 years (SC)

Public Law Officer / DLO / Law Officer (Ladakh)40 years (ST)
Specialist Grade II Anaesthesiology (NDMC)50 years (ST)

PwBD candidates get further age relaxation as notified for identified posts, commonly up to 10 years, subject to the advertisement. Contractual employees in the Delhi prosecution set-up may get a one-time upper-age relaxation of up to 5 years for the APP post if they have worked at least 180 days and meet the other conditions in the advertisement.

Examples (Assistant Public Prosecutor, UR, cut-off 02 October 2026):

✅ A 34-year-old UR candidate born on 03 October 1991 — eligible (within the 35-year limit as on 02 October 2026).
❌ A 36-year-old UR candidate born on 02 October 1990 — not eligible (exceeds maximum age by 1 year).

What Is the Salary? – UPSC APP & Assistant Professor 2026

Pay is 7th CPC. Medical posts also draw Non-Practising Allowance. Figures below are indicative in-hand estimates using DA at about 55% of basic (2026 working rate), HRA by city class, transport allowance, and NPS at 10% of basic + DA. These are not offer letters.

*Ladakh pay can rise after High Altitude / Special Duty allowances are notified by the UT or the Centre. Treat the row as a floor, not a ceiling.

Claim + proof for APP in Delhi: basic ₹56,100 + DA ~₹30,855 + HRA ~₹16,830 + TA ~₹7,200 ≈ ₹1.11 lakh gross, minus NPS ~₹8,700 and small CGHS / tax adjustments. Use the 7th CPC Salary Calculator for a city-wise slip. The calculator is indicative. The official pay fixation on joining prevails.

Medical officers cannot do private practice, including consultation and laboratory practice. That is why NPA exists. CHS Teaching Specialist Sub-cadre posts also carry a defence-service liability of not less than four years if required, with the usual age and tenure caps in CHS Rules, 2014.

What Is the Application Fee?

CategoryFee
UR / EWS / OBC male candidates₹25, online
Women (any community), SC, ST, PwBDNil

Pay in the UPSC ORA form by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. The fee is non-refundable. A second application for the same vacancy number does not carry over the earlier fee. If more than one application is submitted for the same post, only the last submitted application will be considered, as per UPSC’s standard instruction. Fee paid on an earlier form is generally not transferred.

How to Apply?

Applications are online only on the UPSC Online Recruitment Application portal. There is no offline form and no email route.

  1. Open the UPSC ORA candidate portal from 12 September 2026.
  2. Complete Account Creation, then Universal Registration to get a URN, then the Common Application Form (CAF).
  3. Open the post-specific module for the vacancy number you want (for example, 26091106212 for APP).
  4. Capture the live photograph on the portal, upload your signature and documents in PDF format, and pay the fee if payable.
  5. Submit before 6:00 PM on 02 October 2026, or by 09 October 2026 if you are applying only for the Ladakh law post.
  6. Print the final application and keep the URN safe.

Resize the signature scan with the Photo & Signature Resizer before uploading. The portal also takes a live photo, so a pre-resized passport file alone is not enough.

Suggested (not stated as a portal rule): finish CAF and document upload at least a day before the close. ORA traffic rises on deadline evenings.

One form is not a licence for every post. Each vacancy number is a separate module. If you are eligible for APP and also for the Ladakh law post, complete both modules. Post preference inside a single form is not how this advertisement works.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Counting GDMO / Medical Officer service as teaching experience for General Medicine Assistant Professor. The advertisement excludes that time.
  2. Applying for the Ladakh law post without a Tehsildar-issued UT domicile and without a Bar-practice certificate from the exact authorities named (Principal District and Sessions Judge, or Registrar General of a High Court, or the Supreme Court).
  3. Treating “desirable” master’s / publishing-software experience or government-advocate work as if it were mandatory, or the reverse: leaving those fields blank when you actually have them. Desirable items often decide shortlisting.
  4. Submitting the CAF and assuming the post-specific module is optional. Without the module, that vacancy is not applied for.
  5. Waiting to start NMC or State Medical Council registration until the interview letter arrives. A missing registration at DV can waste a CHS seat.

केवल upsconline.nic.in पर आवेदन करें।

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is a chain, not a single board sitting.

  1. Online application + eligibility screening against the closing-date record.
  2. Shortlisting on essential qualifications, experience and desirable criteria. UPSC may hold a Recruitment Test when a post draws too many eligible forms.
  3. Interview of 100 marks. Minimum suitability: UR 50, OBC 45, SC/ST/PwBD 40. If an RT is held, candidates must clear both stages.
  4. Document verification of URN, CAF claims, degrees, experience, caste/PwBD/domicile papers and medical registration.
  5. Recommendation and appointment by the indenting ministry, council or UT, subject to the reservation roster, medical fitness and character verification.

No interview date is in the current advertisement. Calls go to the registered email and the Commission website. There is no separate personality-test marks table beyond the 100-mark interview.

If a Recruitment Test is announced later, treat that notice as binding. Until then, do not prepare as if a fixed SSC-style paper exists.

Why Does the Union Public Service Commission Matter?

UPSC is India’s central recruiting commission. It does not employ Assistant Public Prosecutors or CHS teachers on its own payroll. It selects them for ministries, the Government of NCT of Delhi, NDMC, Indian Bureau of Mines under the Ministry of Mines, and the Administration of UT of Ladakh.

That split matters. Your appointment letter, posting and promotion rules come from the indenting department, not from Dholpur House. IBM editorial work sits with a mining-regulation organisation headquartered at Nagpur. CHS Teaching Specialist Sub-cadre work is classroom, research and patient care under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. APP work is court prosecution for GNCT of Delhi.

Candidates search this page for three practical reasons. First, “UPSC APP vacancy 2026” is a high-intent legal-career query because 140 seats in one Delhi cadre is larger than most state APP drives. Second, “UPSC Assistant Professor recruitment” captures CHS teaching searches that AIIMS and ESIC pages do not fully cover. Third, Ladakh domicile holders look for UT law posts that never appear in Delhi-centric boards.

The honest limit: UPSC selection advertisements move on the Commission’s calendar. Interview letters and dossiers can take months. You apply to UPSC, then wait on a department you do not control.

Read more on the UPSC organisation page, the Central Government sector hub, and Delhi government job listings.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

This advertisement is closer to a UPSC CBI Public Prosecutor or CHS Specialist Grade III drive than to CSE or CMS. You are not writing a GS paper. You are putting a Bar diary or a teaching log in front of a board that can also order a Recruitment Test if the inbox explodes. Against AIIMS faculty advertisements, the CHS Assistant Professor seats here are fewer in Anatomy and unusually large in General Medicine (60), with an all-India transfer liability after a Delhi headquarters line.

Best fit: Delhi-based advocates with a clean three-year vakalatnama trail who want a Level-10 government prosecution job; MD Medicine teachers who already work as Senior Residents or Assistant Professors and can prove it; ST anaesthetists targeting the single NDMC seat; Ladakh-domicile ST lawyers who can get the exact Bar certificate the form names.

Skip it if the paperwork is theatre. A journalist without three years of documented editing-publishing work will not convert the IBM seat on a portfolio alone. A physician whose “teaching” is OPD duty as a GDMO will not satisfy the General Medicine Note on experience. Anyone unwilling to serve outside Delhi should not treat the CHS line “Headquarters: Delhi” as a posting guarantee.

Practical tip: Map every claim in the CAF to a dated PDF now. For APP, keep a court-wise list of cases with appearance dates. For teaching posts, keep appointment letters that say Senior Resident / Tutor / Demonstrator / Registrar / Assistant Professor / Lecturer, not “duty doctor.” Shortlisting happens on those labels, not on how well you will speak in the interview.

Based on similar UPSC recruitment-by-selection cycles, plan 6–9 months from form to joining. APP growth typically runs APP → Senior APP / Public Prosecutor through departmental rules of GNCT of Delhi. CHS teachers move into the Teaching Specialist Sub-cadre under CHS Rules, 2014.

What Documents Are Required?

Keep PDF scans ready for the ORA module and originals for interview / DV:

  • URN / CAF printout and photo ID (Aadhaar is advised by UPSC for verification)
  • Degree and PG marksheets: MBBS, MD/MS/DNB/M.Sc/Ph.D., LLB, journalism/diploma papers as applicable
  • Teaching experience or Bar-practice certificates dated after the qualifying degree
  • NMC / State Medical Council registration for medical posts
  • Caste / EWS / PwBD certificate in the UPSC prescribed format
  • UT of Ladakh domicile (Tehsildar) for Vacancy No. 26091107212
  • NOC or “informed the Head of Office” declaration for serving employees
  • Fee receipt if paid

Document alert: EWS and OBC-NCL certificates must match the format and validity window and UPSC names in the advertisement. A state-format PwBD card that does not map to the identified disability codes for that vacancy number is a frequent DV failure.

Service Conditions

CHS Assistant Professor posts are permanent Group A in the Teaching Specialist Sub-cadre. Probation is one year. Vacancies are filled on a temporary footing and confirmed after satisfactory probation. Private practice is barred. Officers may be required to serve in a Defence-linked post for at least four years, with the age and service caps in CHS Rules, 2014.

Assistant Public Prosecutor and the Ladakh law posts carry a two-year probation on the figures extracted from the advertisement. IBM Assistant Editor is Level-7 under NPS (applicable from 01 January 2004 for new central recruits). Headquarters for IBM is Nagpur. CHS and NDMC medical work is Delhi-centred at entry, with all-India liability for CHS.

Hostel, canteen or government quarter is not promised in this advertisement. Do not treat those as part of the offer.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. UPSC emails the interview schedule and the list of certificates to be produced.
  2. After the board, a reserve-category-wise recommended list is published on the Commission website.
  3. The indenting department (MoHFW, IBM, NDMC, Directorate of Prosecution GNCTD, or UT of Ladakh) issues the offer and medical / police verification instructions.
  4. You join on probation: one year for CHS Assistant Professor, two years for APP and the Ladakh law posts as notified.
  5. Confirmation follows a satisfactory probation report. Pay is then drawn on the time scale with DA, HRA and NPA where due.
  6. First posting is decided by the department. CHS officers can be moved anywhere in India. APP posting is within the NCT of Delhi prosecution set-up. IBM editorial work is tied to Nagpur operations. Ladakh law officers serve in the UT.

Use the NPS Pension Calculator only as a long-horizon sketch. Your appointment letter names the exact pension scheme.

FAQs – UPSC APP & Assistant Professor 2026

What is the last date to apply for UPSC APP and Assistant Professor 2026?

02 October 2026 at 6:00 PM for every post except the UT of Ladakh law post, which closes on 09 October 2026. Late forms are not accepted. No extension had been notified as of 11 September 2026.

What is the age limit for UPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor?

35 years for UR/EWS, 38 for OBC and 40 for SC/ST as of 02 October 2026. Other posts have different ceilings, from 30 years (Assistant Editor, UR) to 50 years (NDMC Anaesthesiology, ST). PwBD relaxation is extra where the post is identified.

Is there an exam for these UPSC posts, or is it interview-based?

No default written paper. Selection is shortlisting plus a 100-mark interview. UPSC may add a Recruitment Test if a vacancy number draws too many eligible applications. Minimum interview marks: UR 50, OBC 45, SC/ST/PwBD 40 out of 100.

What is the salary of an Assistant Public Prosecutor in Delhi?

Around ₹85,000–₹1,00,000 in hand in Delhi on Level-10 (basic ₹56,100 plus DA, 30% HRA and transport, minus NPS). CHS Assistant Professors on Level-11 plus NPA take home roughly ₹1.15–₹1.35 lakh in an X-class city. Figures are estimates.

Can final-year students apply for UPSC Advt 11/2026?

No. Essential qualifications and the required teaching or Bar experience must be in place by the closing date of that post. Produce degree and experience proofs at document verification. The advertisement does not open a result-awaited window.

Is UPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor a permanent government job?

Yes. These are regular government posts filled through UPSC recruitment by selection. APP and Ladakh law posts have two-year probation. CHS Assistant Professor posts are permanent Group A after one-year probation and confirmation.

Can candidates from other states apply for this UPSC recruitment?

Yes, for six of the seven posts. Indian citizens from any state may apply. The Public Law Officer / District Litigation Officer / Law Officer posts in the UT of Ladakh are only for candidates with a Tehsildar-issued Ladakh domicile certificate.

Where will I be posted if selected?

APP: Directorate of Prosecution, NCT of Delhi. Assistant Editor: Indian Bureau of Mines, Nagpur. NDMC specialists: New Delhi Municipal Council hospitals. CHS Assistant Professors: headquarters Delhi, with all-India service liability. Ladakh law officers: UT of Ladakh only.

Do I need NMC registration for the Assistant Professor posts?

Yes. Medical posts need a recognised medical qualification and council registration. BCMR / NMC or State Medical Council paperwork often takes two to four weeks. Begin it before the interview letter, not after.

How do I check my UPSC ORA application status?

Log in to the same ORA account on upsconline.nic.in with your URN. Interview notices also go to the email entered in CAF. Keep that mailbox active until the dossier is closed.

What is the in-hand salary of a central government Assistant Professor doctor?

On Level-11 plus NPA in Delhi, expect about ₹1.15–₹1.35 lakh a month after NPS, using current DA near 55% and 30% HRA. Exact pay depends on NPA drawal, city class and tax. Private practice is not allowed on these CHS seats.

Is a public prosecutor job in Delhi worth leaving private practice for?

The trade-off is stability versus brief-fee income. Level-10 pay, Delhi courts and a government brief replace chambers earnings that can be higher in a busy private practice. If you need metro stability and a structured cadre, the 140-seat APP block is serious. If your private roster already pays well above ₹1.5 lakh, run the numbers first.

How much do law officers earn in Union Territory administrations?

This Ladakh post is Level-8 (basic ₹47,600). Indicative in-hand is about ₹72,000–₹82,000 before UT high-altitude or special-duty additions. It is not the same pay as a Delhi APP on Level-10. Domicile and ST reservation also shrink the eligible pool.

Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?

Use this quick checklist before you apply:

  • You meet the age and educational criteria as on 02 October 2026 (09 October 2026 for the Ladakh post).
  • You are comfortable with Regular Government Service on probation, then confirmation under the indenting department’s rules.
  • You can arrange degrees, Bar/teaching certificates, domicile, NMC and category papers before document verification.
  • You are prepared for the most demanding stage: shortlisting on experience labels, then a 100-mark interview (and an RT if UPSC orders one).
  • You understand the posting pattern (Delhi / Nagpur / Ladakh, plus all-India liability on CHS posts) and will serve where allotted.
