How to Apply? (Step-by-Step)
The OSSSC Ophthalmic Officer online form 2026 is available at www.osssc.gov.in from 5 November 2026 to 5 December 2026.
- Open the OSSSC official portal (open).
- Fresh candidates (New User) who have not registered earlier for any previous recruitment of the Commission should register by clicking “Apply Online” on the Home page. Candidates who already have a User ID (Registered User) should log in and select the “Re-registration” option under the Applicant Menu. Read the on-screen instructions and the “How do I register/re-register/apply” guidance carefully. Mere registration/re-registration does not mean filing of the online application.
- After completing registration/re-registration, log in and fill the online application form with data and information as per documents, following the system guidance. Indicate choice of districts in order of preference. Exercise preference for a maximum of three districts for the test centre.
- Upload full specimen signature (jpg/jpeg/png, 20 kb to 50 kb) and recent passport-size coloured photograph (jpg/jpeg/png, 20 kb to 100 kb). Photograph and signature must be clearly identifiable/visible. Keep certificates and mark sheets ready. Have a personal e-mail ID and mobile number valid till completion of the process.
- Applicants other than SC, ST and PwDs pay the Examination Fee of ₹500 through the Payment Gateway. Print the Confirmation Page after successful payment.
- Submit the online application. Incomplete applications are summarily rejected. No Admission Letter is issued to candidates whose application is incomplete or who do not fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria. Download and keep the confirmation for reference.
Photo or signature over the limit? Use our Photo and Signature Resizer to match the printed size and format.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Treating registration or re-registration as the completed application. The online application must be submitted separately by 5 December 2026.
- Uploading a photograph or signature outside the 20–100 kb (photo) or 20–50 kb (signature) range, or in a format other than jpg/jpeg/png, leading to rejection with no correspondence entertained.
- Using a bank account that is not one’s own for fee payment, which can complicate the refund that is credited only to the account used at submission.
- Submitting more than one application form. Multiple forms lead to cancellation of the result and are treated as unfair means.
- Forgetting to upload the valid Ophthalmic Officers’ Council registration certificate (required as on the date of application submission) or the self-attested appointment letter(s) if claiming the contractual Ophthalmic Assistant age relaxation.

Candidates may exercise preference for a maximum of three districts of the state as per their convenience for the test centre in order of priority. The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst's Take – Is This Recruitment for You?
The written test carries 100 marks with negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer, and candidates must clear 30% or 35% depending on category before the document verification stage. At the printed minimum shortlist of 1.25 times vacancies, about 298 candidates can be called for verification across categories (238 × 1.25). District allocation is merit-cum-choice, so the preference order entered now shapes the final posting but does not guarantee it.
