What Is the Salary? – Delhi High Court SPA & PA 2026
Both posts follow the 7th CPC pay matrix. Delhi is an X-class city, so HRA is 30% of basic.
| Post | Pay Level | Basic Pay | Indicative monthly in-hand in Delhi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senior Personal Assistant | Level-8 | ₹47,600 | ₹78,000–₹86,000 |
| Personal Assistant | Level-7 | ₹44,900 | ₹72,000–₹80,000 |
Claim + proof (SPA, Delhi posting): Gross ≈ basic ₹47,600 + DA ~55% (₹26,180) + HRA 30% (₹14,280) + transport allowance. Net is lower after NPS at 10% of basic + DA and CGHS / misc. deductions. Figures are indicative at current DA rates, not an official salary slip.
Use the 7th CPC Salary Calculator for a city-wise estimate. This calculator provides an indicative estimate. The official formula in Court / Government rules prevails.
NPS applies to new central government and High Court recruits unless a later rule says otherwise. Estimate pension contribution with the NPS Pension Calculator.
No hostel, canteen or housing guarantee is written into this vacancy notice. Do not treat those as part of the offer.
What Is the Application Fee?
Fee is per application / per post. If you apply for both SPA and PA, you pay twice.
| Category | Fee (plus transaction charges) |
|---|---|
| UR / OBC-NCL / EWS | ₹1,500 |
| SC / ST / specified PwBD (40% or more in notified disabilities) | ₹1,300 |
Pay by UPI, net banking, credit card or debit card. The form is complete only after the Confirmation Page is generated.
Fee is non-refundable and not adjustable against any other exam. Applications without fee are rejected.
Correction charges (all categories): ₹200 for the first correction; ₹500 for the second. Maximum two corrected re-submissions. Name, Category, Date of Birth and Mobile Number cannot be edited in the correction window.
Payment grievance (SBI): Customer Support 022-65361671, email sbiepay@sbi.co.in. Other query number printed in the notice: +91-7353014447.
How to Apply?
Applications are accepted only online. No offline form is entertained. Do not post the confirmation page to the Court.
- Open the Delhi High Court SPA and PA 2026 application portal (also linked from the Job Openings page). Registration opened on 15 September 2026 and closes on 05 October 2026 at 11:00 PM.
- Register with an active email ID and mobile number. Save the system-generated registration/application number.
- Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Email cannot be changed after registration. Enter them exactly as on documents.
- Select the post. File a separate application and fee if applying for both SPA and PA.
- Fill in personal, educational and category details. The category chosen here cannot be changed later.
- Upload a colour passport photograph (JPEG, 100–200 KB, not older than three months, about 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, 3/4th face coverage, no cap, mask or spectacles). Use the Photo & Signature Resizer before uploading.
- Capture the mandatory live photograph on a webcam or phone. It must match the uploaded photo or the portal will block you.
- Upload left-hand thumb impression (JPEG, 50–200 KB; right thumb only if left is unavailable) and signature (JPEG, 50–150 KB). Full name in CAPITAL letters is not accepted as a signature.
- Pay the fee and generate the Confirmation Page. Print and store it. Do not send it to the Court.
- If needed, use the correction window from 12 to 14 October 2026 and pay correction charges. The latest modified form is the valid one; earlier versions stand cancelled.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying for PA as a UR candidate. There is no General vacancy for Personal Assistant. UR candidates should apply for SPA only.
- Using a non-Delhi OBC certificate for reservation. OBC benefit is limited to NCT of Delhi notified castes with a current-year NCL certificate. Wrong certificate means your claim is treated as UR (possible only on SPA).
- Skipping the live photo or mismatching it with the passport photo. The notice says the application will not proceed.
- Signing in block capitals or uploading a blurred thumb impression. Those forms are rejected.
- Waiting for one combined form. SPA and PA need two applications and two fees. Paying once does not cover both.

How Are Candidates Selected?
Selection is a four-stage funnel. Typing does not add to merit. Final rank = Stage-II + Stage-III + Stage-IV.
| Stage | What happens | Counts toward merit? |
|---|---|---|
| I – English Typing Test | 10 minutes, 40 w.p.m., “characters with spaces”, 3% mistakes allowed | Qualifying only |
| II – English Shorthand | SPA: 110 w.p.m., 550 words in 5 minutes, 45 minutes transcription, 120 marks, max 27.5 mistakes. PA: 100 w.p.m., 500 words, 110 marks, max 25 mistakes. Best of two dictations. 4 marks per full mistake, 2 marks per half mistake | Yes |
| III – Main (Descriptive) | 100 marks, 120 minutes | Yes (must pass) |
| IV – Interview | 15 marks, no qualifying cut-off | Yes |
Main (Descriptive) paper
| Component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Essay (250 words) | 40 |
| Letter writing | 15 |
| Grammar and comprehension passage | 25 |
| Hindi to English translation | 10 |
| English to Hindi translation | 10 |
| Total | 100 |
Passing marks in Stage-III: 50% (50/100) for General; 45% (45/100) for reserved categories including PwBD. For PA there is no General vacancy, so the reserved 45% standard applies to those competing for PA.
No exemption from any stage, including for PwBD. No scribe. No extra time. No re-evaluation of scores. No TA/DA.
Tie-break (in this order): higher Stage-II marks → higher Stage-III marks → higher Stage-IV marks → older candidate.
Exam city, date and admit card will appear only through a public notice on the official website.
Why Does the High Court of Delhi Matter?
High Court of Delhi is the constitutional High Court for the National Capital Territory, sitting at Sher Shah Road, New Delhi. It hears original, appellate and constitutional work for Delhi and is part of India’s higher judiciary.
SPA and PA staff sit with Hon’ble Judges. Daily work is dictation of orders and judgments, accurate transcription, digital upload of signed orders, file custody and support to the Private Secretary. The notice itself says selected staff may work at odd hours, on holidays and at the Judge’s residential office.
Candidates search this recruitment because Level-7 and Level-8 court pay in Delhi is higher than most SSC Stenographer Grade C outcomes, the posting is city-fixed rather than all-India transferable field work, and the High Court badge carries long-term service value. The downside is the skill bar: English shorthand at 100–110 w.p.m. eliminates a large share of graduates who only have typing certificates. Court hours also follow the judicial calendar, not a 10-to-5 desk clock.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take
This drive sits next to SSC Stenographer Grade C and other High Court or Supreme Court Personal Assistant notifications, not next to IBPS or SSC CGL. SSC Steno C usually lands around Level-6 with an all-India posting. Delhi High Court SPA starts at Level-8 in an X-class city. That pay gap is the reason serious stenographers keep this tab open beside the SSC form.
Best fit: graduates who already write English shorthand at court speed and want a New Delhi station with Group ‘B’ pay. Reserved-category stenographers should look hard at PA: 33 seats and zero UR competition.
Skip this if shorthand is still “I will pick it up after I apply.” Stage-I and Stage-II will remove you before the descriptive paper. Also skip PA if you are UR. The fee will not come back.
Practical tip: File SPA first if you clear 110 w.p.m. Add PA only if you also want the 100 w.p.m. reserved-category track and can pay a second fee. Treat two full mock dictations as practice for the official “best of two” shorthand rule, and start Hindi–English translation drills now; those 20 marks decide many merit lists after shorthand.
Based on similar High Court steno cycles, expect several months from application to joining. Career path inside the Court typically runs Personal Assistant → Senior Personal Assistant → Private Secretary through seniority and departmental process. Confirm the exact channel from service rules after appointment.
What Documents Are Required?
Keep originals ready for every stage and for document verification.
- Confirmation Page of the online application
- Matriculation / Secondary certificate (date of birth)
- Graduation degree and marksheets (result declared on or before 05 October 2026)
- Photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, Voter ID or equivalent)
- SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS / PwBD certificates dated on or before 05 October 2026
- Delhi OBC certificate plus NCL for FY 2026–27, if claiming OBC
- EWS Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format
- PwBD certificate showing 40% or more in an identified category
- NOC for serving government employees (at DV / interview)
- Eligibility certificate for Nepal subjects
- Disclosure of any pending criminal case or FIR
Document alert: category cannot be changed after submission. A late or non-Delhi OBC file will not be converted into a reserved seat.
Service Conditions
These are regular Group ‘B’ posts on the establishment of the High Court of Delhi. The notice does not print probation length, bond amount or NPS clause in this circular. Those terms follow the Court’s service rules and the appointment letter.
Selected candidates also join a panel for future vacancies. Candidature stays provisional till certificates are verified. No TA/DA for tests or interviews. Work includes odd hours, holidays and residential-office duty when the Judge requires it. Duties in Annexure-A cover dictation, transcription, digital signing support, file custody and confidentiality of draft judgments.
What Happens After Selection?
- Merit list is drawn from shorthand + descriptive + interview marks, subject to document verification and the reservation roster (including horizontal PwBD).
- Shortlisted candidates produce originals. Government employees produce NOC at this stage if not given earlier.
- Offer/appointment follows verification. Medical fitness, if required by Court rules, is completed as directed in the joining papers.
- Joining is at the High Court of Delhi, New Delhi. You report to the assigned Judge’s office or Registry seat and take the prescribed uniform on duty.
- Early months are live court work: dictation in court and chamber, same-day transcription, order upload and file movement with the Court Master and Registry.
- Confirmation, increments and promotion follow the High Court’s service rules after satisfactory service. Use the Govt Service Length Calculator later to track qualifying service.

FAQs – Delhi High Court SPA & PA 2026
What is the last date to apply for Delhi High Court SPA and PA 2026?
05 October 2026, 11:00 PM. The fee must also be paid by that time. Late forms are not accepted. No extension is announced as of 15 September 2026. A correction window runs from 12 to 14 October 2026 for candidates who have already paid.
What is the age limit for Delhi High Court SPA and PA?
18 to 32 years as of 01 January 2026 for the general band. OBC-NCL gets 3 extra years, SC/ST get 5, PwBD-UR/EWS get 10. Regular High Court of Delhi staff have no upper age cap if they meet education and skill rules.
Is there an exam for Delhi High Court SPA and PA, or is it interview-based?
Yes, there is a four-stage exam. English typing is qualifying. Merit comes from English shorthand, a 100-mark descriptive English paper, and a 15-mark interview. The exam date will be notified on the official website.
What is the salary of a Delhi High Court Personal Assistant?
Personal Assistant is Level-7 with a basic salary of ₹44,900. Senior Personal Assistant is Level-8 with basic ₹47,600. Indicative Delhi in-hand is about ₹72,000–₹80,000 for PA and ₹78,000–₹86,000 for SPA, after DA, HRA and NPS.
Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for this recruitment?
No. The degree result must stand declared on or before 05 October 2026. The notice says only candidates who already hold essential qualifications on the last date should apply.
Is Delhi High Court SPA a permanent government job?
Yes. These are regular Group ‘B’ posts on the High Court establishment, not contractual or apprentice seats. Probation and pension or NPS details will follow the appointment letter and Court service rules.
Can candidates from other states apply for Delhi High Court recruitment?
Yes. Indian citizens and eligible Nepali subjects can apply. There is no Delhi domicile bar on application. OBC reservation, however, needs a Delhi NCT OBC certificate plus current-year NCL.
Where will I be posted if selected as SPA or PA?
At the High Court of Delhi, New Delhi. The vacancy notice does not offer a state-cadre choice or outstation court posting. Duty can include holidays and the Judge’s residential office.
Is there negative marking in the shorthand test?
Yes, in the skill test. Four marks go for each full mistake and two marks for each half mistake. Exceed 27.5 mistakes (SPA) or 25 mistakes (PA), and you are out. The descriptive paper itself is not an MCQ paper with negative marking.
Do I need a separate application for SPA and PA?
Yes. Submit one form and one fee per post. A single payment does not cover both. The latest corrected form in the October window replaces earlier versions of that same application.
What are the disadvantages of a High Court Personal Assistant job?
The trade-off is the work rhythm. You take live dictation, stay back on holidays, and handle confidential draft judgments. Shorthand speed is tested with no PwBD extra time. If you want a fixed 10-to-5 clerical desk, this seat will feel hard.
How much do High Court stenographers earn in Delhi?
Group ‘B’ court stenographers in Delhi typically sit on Level-7 or Level-8. With X-city HRA, starting in-hand is commonly in the ₹70,000–₹86,000 band before income-tax variations. SSC Stenographer Grade C is usually a step lower on the pay matrix.
Is a high court stenographer job worth it compared with SSC Steno?
For candidates who already have court-speed English shorthand, yes on pay and city posting. SSC Steno offers more vacancies and an all-India footprint. This Court drive is smaller, skill-heavier, and Delhi-based.
Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?
- You meet the age and educational criteria as on 01 January 2026 / 05 October 2026.
- You are comfortable with Regular Government Service in a Judge’s office, including odd hours and holidays.
- You can arrange Delhi-valid category certificates, degree papers and photo/thumb/live-photo files before the deadline.
- You are prepared for the most demanding stage: English shorthand at 110 w.p.m. (SPA) or 100 w.p.m. (PA).
- You understand that the posting is at the High Court of Delhi, New Delhi, and you will serve there.
