[Secondary] Centre Dissolves 37-Year-Old Digital Communications Commission

The Department of Telecommunications notified the dissolution of the Digital Communications Commission (DCC) after a 19 September 2026 resolution was published in the Gazette on 21 September. The body began as the Telecom Commission in 1989 and was renamed DCC in 2018. Project clearances that the DCC handled will now move through the Telecom Secretary, the minister and the Expenditure Finance Committee or Cabinet, as applicable.

[Official] Core Sector Growth Slows to 4.8% in August 2026

The Office of the Economic Adviser released the Index of Core Industries for August 2026 (base 2022-23): year-on-year growth was 4.8%, below the revised 5.0% for July. [Official] RBI Revises Special FCNR(B) Inflows to USD 132.98 Billion

The Reserve Bank of India on 21 September raised the tally of deposits mobilised under its special FCNR(B) window to USD 132.980 billion as of the 31 August 2026 close. Including OFCBs (USD 5.320 billion) and ECBs (USD 5.296 billion), authorised-dealer reports till 18 September put total inflows under the 8 June 2026 USD–INR swap facility at USD 143.596 billion. RBI issued the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Minimum Capital Requirements for Market Risk) Directions, 2026, adopting a Simplified Standardised Approach. The Department of Telecommunications said Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will host an investors’ meeting in Bengaluru for the proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone at Gwalior.
