[Official] Centre lists Shahzad Bhatti Network as terrorist group under UAPA

The Ministry of Home Affairs on 16 September 2026 designated the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN) a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, adding it to the Act’s First Schedule. [Official] Supreme Court directs RBI to enforce lawful vehicle-seizure rules

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved raising the mandatory EPFO wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month. [Official] RBI absorbs about ₹2.90 lakh crore in two VRRR auctions

[Official] MEA summons Pakistan diplomat after North Arabian Sea collision

The Ministry of External Affairs on 16 September 2026 summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi and protested the “unacceptable” and “unprofessional” conduct of Pakistani naval units that led to a collision with an Indian Navy unit. [Official] India rejects so-called Pakistan–China Boundary Joint Commission

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on 16 September 2026 rejected reports of a Pakistan–China Boundary Joint Commission, stating there is no boundary between Pakistan and China. India restated that the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India and that the 1963 so-called China–Pakistan Boundary Agreement is illegal and invalid. [Official] BFI gives Asian Games boxing medallists direct Worlds entry

The Boxing Federation of India on 16 September 2026 said 2026 Asian Games medallists will be the main entries in their weight classes for the 2027 World Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan, the first qualifying event for Los Angeles 2028. [Official] Centre reconstitutes 18-member CBFC board for three years

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 16 September 2026 reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, read with Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024. The 18-member board, headed by chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati, is appointed with immediate effect for three years or until further orders. New members include Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty, Priyadarshan, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Ricky Kej. A special NIA court in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, on 16 September 2026 sentenced all 10 convicts to death in the 25 May 2013 Jhiram Valley (Jheeram Ghati) Maoist attack. The NIA said 27 people were killed, including Congress leaders Vidya Charan Shukla, Nand Kumar Patel and Mahendra Karma. The court had convicted the 10 accused on 5 September 2026. Convictions were recorded under the IPC, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act and UAPA. The sentences require Chhattisgarh High Court confirmation.
