North Western Railway is a zonal railway under the Ministry of Railways, with its recruitment cell at Jaipur. Training seats are spread across DRM offices at Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Jodhpur, plus carriage and loco workshops in the zone. The detailed notice went up on www.rrcjaipur.in on 01 October 2026. 10th / matric with 50% aggregate + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the notified trade → Act Apprentice training slots, 2008 across eight units. The trade must match a slot at the one unit you select.

PwBD candidates in the notified categories (VI, HI, LD, MD) can use the horizontal seats printed inside the unit totals. Section 12 of the notice sets fitness standards. Low vision is named for Mechanic (Diesel) and Fitter. Other disability categories should read that section before selecting a trade.

Ex-servicemen, their children, and children of armed forces personnel are covered by the reservation list in para 9.1. Age relaxation in para 8.4 is printed for ex-servicemen, not copied onto children. Discharge or serving certificate is required at document verification.

Who cannot apply: result-awaited candidates; anyone below 50% aggregate in 10th; a candidate whose ITI trade is not notified at the chosen unit; anyone who files more than one application.

What Posts Are Available? – RRC NWR Vacancy & Eligibility 2026

Jaipur DRM has the most seats (580), then Bikaner DRM (524) and Ajmer DRM (500). Workshop units are smaller. Diesel Mechanic at Ajmer DRM is the single largest trade row (104). You can pick only one unit. A trade that is open at Jaipur may have no seat at the workshop you actually want.

PwBD and Ex-servicemen figures below are horizontal. The notice says they are included in the total, not extra seats. Slots are provisional.

B.T.C. Carriage, Ajmer is the sum of its mechanical total (73) and electric total (28). Every row below needs ITI in the relevant trade plus 10th at 50%. Trade-wise PwBD and Ex-SM splits are in the PDF tables and sit inside these totals.

Workshops

If a reserved training place stays unfilled, the notice allows SC and ST seats to be filled from the other of those two categories, and then by candidates who are not SC or ST. Seats left by OBC or EWS candidates may be filled by unreserved candidates.

Eligibility – Education, Age and Domicile

The candidate must have passed 10th class or its equivalent under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% in aggregate from a recognised board. No rounding off will be done. The candidate must also hold a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.

Marks in all matriculation subjects count, not one subject group. ITI percentage is taken from the provisional or final certificate. The qualification must be held on the date of submission. An engineering degree or diploma is not listed as a substitute for the ITI certificate in this notice.

The notice does not print a state domicile bar. Indian candidates who meet the age and qualification rules can apply. Training is only at the NWR unit selected in the form.

What Is the Age Limit?

Age is reckoned as on 06 November 2026. The candidate should have completed 15 years and should not have completed 24 years on that date.

Ex-servicemen who have already joined civil government service after using ex-servicemen status are excepted from that age relaxation. The notice does not print a separate upper age for EWS.

Examples:

OBC reservation needs a central-format caste certificate and a Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 01 April 2026, plus the OBC declaration in Annexure-IIA. SC/ST certificates must be in the central format in Annexure-I. EWS needs Annexure-III. These are produced at document verification, not with a posted form.

What Is the Stipend?

The notice does not mention a rupee stipend or a training duration. Para 17.1 says the training period and stipend will be as per extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time.

No hostel will be provided. Selected candidates must make their own stay arrangements and will be released when training ends. No daily allowance, conveyance allowance or travelling allowance is paid for document verification.

Do not treat a figure from another zone’s apprentice notice as this stipend. The engagement letter or Railway Board directive is the source for the amount. Stipend, once fixed, is payable subject to attendance and the training rules that apply.

What Is the Application Fee?

Payment is online through the payment gateway inside the application on www.rrcjaipur.in. Debit card, credit card and internet banking are available. Transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate. After payment, you are sent back to download the form. If money is deducted but the form does not download, use “Verify Payment” and log in again. RRC/NWR is not responsible for an incomplete fee transaction. No edits are allowed after the fee step.

How to Apply?

1. From 07 October 2026, open the RRC Jaipur website and the Act Apprentice 04/2026 application. Detailed fill-in instructions will be on that site.
2. Keep Aadhaar ready. The form asks for the 12-digit Aadhaar number. The original Aadhaar card is produced at document verification.
3. Use an active mobile number and a valid email. Messages sent there are treated as read.
4. Select only one unit, and only if that unit has a slot in your ITI trade.
5. Upload a colour photograph, 3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, taken no earlier than three months before the application, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20 KB to 70 KB, front view, no cap and no sunglasses. Use our Photo & Signature Resizer if the file is outside that range. Suggested only as a sizing aid. The notice’s limits prevail.
6. Upload the signature, 3.5 cm × 2.5 cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20 KB to 30 KB.
7. Pay ₹100 if you are not in a nil-fee category, then download the form. Keep the printout and the registration number. Do not post it. A physical copy, even if received, gets no cognisance.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Selecting a unit that has no seat in your trade. The notice says the application may become meaningless, and you cannot change it later.
• Filing a second form with another email or mobile number. All such applications are summarily rejected.
• Rounding 49.5% or 49.9% up to 50%. The notice forbids rounding.
• Uploading a photograph older than three months, or with a cap or sunglasses. RRC may reject it.
• Posting certificates to Jaipur. Consideration is only on the online form.

How Are Candidates Selected?

No interview stage is mentioned. There is no written exam. Selection is based on a merit list of everyone who applies.

The merit mark is the simple average of matriculation percentage and ITI marks in the trade. Matriculation uses marks in all subjects and requires at least 50% aggregate. ITI marks are those on the provisional or final certificate. Use our Percentage Calculator only as a check. The notice’s own average is what counts.

The final list is division/unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of that percentage. There is no centralised merit list. If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred. If dates of birth also match, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier is considered first.

Shortlisted candidates then face document verification and must produce the medical certificate in Annexure-IV. Verification is at the opted division or unit. RRC prepares the list and advises the units. It does not run a one all-zone panel.

What Documents Are Required?

At document verification, keep originals and the online printout:

• ITI / National Trade Certificate (provisional or final) in the notified trade
• Aadhaar card
• Recent photograph copies matching the uploaded photo (the notice asks you to keep two extra copies)
• Caste certificate in central format if you claim SC or ST (Annexure-I)

Service Conditions

Before training starts, the selected candidate enters a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer. If the candidate is a minor, the guardian enters that contract.

Training does not confer any right to absorption in the Railways after completion. The notice repeats this, and cites para 10 of Schedule V of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, notified on 15 July 1992. It is not obligatory for the railway to offer employment, or for the apprentice to accept it.

No hostel is provided. After selection, a request to change division, unit or trade will not be considered. Canvassing disqualifies the candidature.
