How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is through screening of applications followed by an interview only. There is no written examination.

NRSC reserves the right to fix additional shortlisting criteria. Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. Call letters will be sent only to shortlisted candidates by email. Candidates must keep their registered email active.

Why Does NRSC Hyderabad Matter?

National Remote Sensing Centre is the primary centre of ISRO under the Department of Space for satellite data reception, processing and remote-sensing applications. It supports natural resource management, disaster management, agriculture, climate studies and geospatial services across India.

Working here gives direct exposure to ISRO-funded projects in remote sensing, GIS, AI/ML for Earth observation and regional centres (RRSC). The downside is the purely temporary nature of these posts – maximum engagement is limited, and there is no automatic path to permanent ISRO cadre.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

Compared with similar project posts at NESAC or SAC, NRSC’s 48-post drive offers broader specialisations – from water resources and geology to AI/ML and agrometeorology – and clearer location tags for a few posts at New Delhi and Bengaluru. The absence of a written exam lowers the entry barrier for candidates with strong project experience or NET/GATE scores.

Best fit: Fresh or early-career postgraduates in remote sensing, GIS, computer science or Earth sciences who want ISRO project exposure and can accept a fixed-term contract. Candidates already holding NET/GATE have a clear edge for the 19 JRF seats.

Who should skip: Those seeking permanent government jobs or long-term career progression within the same organisation. Candidates unwilling to relocate to Hyderabad (or the earmarked centres) will find limited options.

Practical tip: Apply for every post code whose qualification you meet. Separate applications are required, and shortlisting is competitive – multiple applications improve your chance of an interview call without extra written-exam effort.

What Documents Are Required?

Keep ready for upload and later verification:

  • Recent passport-size photograph and signature
  • Degree certificates and marksheets (all semesters)
  • Valid NET/GATE scorecard (for JRF posts)
  • Experience certificates (for Project Associate-II)
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) if claiming relaxation
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar / Passport / Voter ID)
  • Any other document specified in the online form

Originals will be verified only for shortlisted candidates at the interview stage.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. Shortlisted candidates receive an interview call letter by email.
  2. Appear for the interview with original documents and certificates.
  3. On selection, receive offer of engagement for the specific project post.
  4. Join at the allotted centre (Hyderabad / New Delhi / Bengaluru) within the stipulated time.
  5. Initial engagement is for one year; extension depends on performance review and project requirement (maximum usually up to three or five years depending on post, or co-terminus with the project).
  6. No claim for regular appointment or absorption in ISRO/NRSC cadre arises from this engagement.

FAQs – NRSC Hyderabad Research Personnel Recruitment 2026

Q1: What is the last date to apply for NRSC Research Personnel 2026?

A: 21 August 2026 (17:00 hrs). Late applications are not accepted, and no extension has been announced as of 01 August 2026.

Q2: What is the age limit for NRSC Research Personnel posts?

A: 28 years (UR) for most JRF and M.Sc-based Research Scientist posts; 30 years for M.Tech-based Research Scientist; 35 years for Project Associate and Project Scientist posts. OBC gets +3 years, SC/ST +5 years. Age is calculated as on 21 August 2026.

Q3: Is there an exam for NRSC Research Personnel, or is it interview-based?

A: No written exam. Selection is through screening of applications followed by an interview only. Call letters go only to shortlisted candidates by email.

Q4: What is the salary of NRSC Research Scientist and JRF?

A: Research Scientist receives ₹56,100 + HRA + DA (approx. ₹75,000–85,000 in-hand at Hyderabad). JRF receives ₹37,000 + HRA (up to ₹42,000 as SRF after two years). Project Associate posts range from ₹31,000 to ₹35,000 + HRA.

Q5: Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for NRSC 2026?

A: No. Only candidates who have already completed the required degree and obtained the certificate are eligible. Final-year or result-awaited candidates need not apply.

Q6: Is NRSC Research Personnel a permanent government job?

A: No. These are purely temporary project posts initially for one year, extendable based on performance and project needs, without any provision for regularisation or absorption into regular ISRO cadre.

Q7: Can candidates from other states apply for NRSC recruitment?

A: Yes. This is an all-India recruitment under the Department of Space. Indian citizens from any state can apply, subject to meeting the educational and age criteria.

Q8: Where will I be posted if selected for NRSC Research Personnel?

A: Primarily at NRSC Hyderabad (Balanagar or Shadnagar). A few posts are earmarked for RRSC-North (New Delhi) and RRSC-South (Bengaluru). Candidates may also be required to serve at other NRSC campuses on a need basis.

Q9: Is NRSC Research Personnel worth applying for?

A: Yes, if you want ISRO project experience and can accept a fixed-term contract. The pay is competitive for temporary research roles and the work involves real remote-sensing applications. It is not suitable if you need permanence or long-term career security in the same organisation.

Q10: Do I need NET or GATE for all NRSC posts?

A: No. NET or GATE (or equivalent national-level exam) is mandatory only for the Junior Research Fellow posts. Other posts require only the prescribed degree with minimum marks/CGPA.

Q11: What are the disadvantages of these NRSC project posts?

A: Here’s the catch – the posts are purely temporary with a maximum engagement limit and no automatic path to permanent ISRO jobs. Extension depends entirely on project continuity and performance reviews.

Q12: How much do research fellows earn in ISRO centres?

A: JRF-level posts at ISRO centres typically start at ₹37,000 + HRA and can rise to ₹42,000 as SRF after two years of satisfactory work. Project Scientist posts offer around ₹56,000 + HRA.

Q13: Can I apply for more than one post code in NRSC recruitment?

A: Yes. You can apply for multiple post codes if you meet the respective qualifications. Each application requires a separate form and fee payment of ₹250.

Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?

  • You meet the age and educational criteria as of 21 August 2026.
  • You are comfortable with the temporary project nature of the posts (no regularisation).
  • You can arrange all required documents and certificates before document verification.
  • You are prepared for the interview-based selection (no written exam).
  • You understand the posting pattern (mainly Hyderabad, possible New Delhi or Bengaluru) and are willing to serve at the allotted location.
