How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is through a departmental promotion examination conducted for eligible serving Anganwadi Sevikas.

Stages expected (based on previous ICDS Maharashtra Supervisor cycles and available circular details):

  1. Online Computer-Based Test (departmental exam)
  2. Merit list preparation
  3. Document and service-record verification
  4. Final appointment under promotion quota

Detailed exam pattern and syllabus are not fully published in the current short circular. Previous similar drives used objective questions covering Marathi language, English language, General Knowledge, ICDS schemes & Acts, Nutrition, Mathematics, Reasoning and Computer knowledge (often in two groups). The exact pattern for 2026 will be notified separately. Candidates should prepare on the basis of earlier ICDS Supervisor papers until the official syllabus is released.

No physical standards or PET are applicable for this supervisory promotion post.

Why Does ICDS Maharashtra Matter?

The Integrated Child Development Services Scheme is the Government of India’s flagship programme for early childhood care, nutrition and maternal health. In Maharashtra, the Commissionerate implements ICDS across urban and rural projects, supervising thousands of Anganwadi centres.

Mukhyasevika (Supervisor) is the first regular supervisory level above Anganwadi Sevika. The role involves monitoring centres, guiding Sevikas and Helpers, maintaining records, coordinating with health and education departments, and ensuring delivery of nutrition and pre-school services.

For serving Sevikas, this promotion converts an honorarium-based field role into a regular Group-C government post with a fixed pay scale, increments and retirement benefits. The trade-off is increased administrative responsibility and possible transfer within the division.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

This promotion drive is the most direct route available to long-serving Anganwadi Sevikas in Maharashtra who already possess a degree. Compared with open-market Supervisor recruitments (which are infrequent and attract large numbers of fresh graduates), the internal quota gives clear preference to candidates with proven field experience.

Best fit: Anganwadi Sevikas who completed graduation early, have uninterrupted 10+ years of regular service, and are currently under 50 years as of 01 January 2025. Those who have already been handling supervisory duties informally will find the transition smoother.

Who should skip: Sevikas whose service has breaks, those still below the 10-year mark, or those who prefer to continue only with field-level Anganwadi work without administrative load. Candidates who have not yet obtained a degree from a statutory university are also ineligible.

Practical tip: Immediately request your CDPO to issue the continuous service certificate and obtain the signed acknowledgement form. Many eligible Sevikas miss the window simply because the project office paperwork is delayed. Start the documentation process today rather than waiting for the last week of applications.

What Documents Are Required?

Keep the following ready (exact list will be confirmed at the document verification stage):

  • Degree certificate and mark sheets from a statutory university
  • Continuous regular service certificate as Anganwadi Sevika (minimum 10 years as on 01.01.2025) issued by competent authority
  • Age proof (birth certificate / SSC certificate)
  • Caste certificate (if claiming any reservation benefit at later stage)
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar / PAN / Voter ID)
  • Any other document demanded in the call letter

What Happens After Selection?

  1. Candidates shortlisted based on the departmental exam will be called for document and service-record verification.
  2. Verified candidates receive appointment orders under the promotion quota.
  3. Joining formalities are completed at the concerned Child Development Project / Divisional level.
  4. Newly promoted Mukhyasevikas undergo orientation/induction training on supervisory roles, record-keeping and ICDS schemes.
  5. Posting is normally within the same revenue division; inter-division transfers follow later rules.
  6. Probation/confirmation follows Maharashtra government Group-C norms. Annual increments and further promotions become available after the required service and departmental exams (including computer and language proficiency requirements mentioned in the circular).
