English stenographers who can hold 100–110 words a minute still have a rare direct entry into a constitutional court. The High Court of Delhi has opened the Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant Examination 2026 for 150 Group ‘B’ seats at its New Delhi campus.

The High Court of Delhi is the principal constitutional court for the National Capital Territory. These posts sit in the judicial administration stream, not in a ministry secretariat or a public sector bank. Work is at Sher Shah Road, New Delhi.

Online applications open at 11:00 AM on 15 September 2026 and close at 11:00 PM on 05 October 2026 on delhihighcourt.nic.in. A correction window runs from 12 to 14 October 2026. Exam and admit card dates will be notified later on the same website.

What Posts Are Available?

SPA takes 117 of the 150 seats. PA has no Unreserved vacancy, so a general-category graduate without EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST claim can apply only for SPA. PwBD seats are horizontal and sit within the 117 and 33 totals. Treat the category split below as the working roster; confirm the printed table in the official PDF before claiming a category.

Eligibility – Education, Age & Domicile

Both posts need a graduate degree from a university or institution recognised by the Government of India or an approved regulator. The final result must be declared on or before 05 October 2026. Good working knowledge of computers is essential.

Skill bar: SPA needs 110 words per minute in English shorthand; PA needs 100. Both need 40 words per minute in English typewriting on a computer. There is no Hindi-steno stream in this notice.

Citizenship: citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal with a Government of India eligibility certificate.

Domicile: no Delhi domicile is printed as a general eligibility filter. OBC-NCL candidates who want reservation must hold an NCL certificate issued in FY 2026-27 by a competent authority of the Government of NCT of Delhi. That is a reservation document rule, not a blanket ban on other-state applicants in Unreserved seats.

Serving government employees may apply. They should intimate their office and keep a No Objection Certificate ready for document verification or interview. NOC is not demanded at the moment of online submission.

Age is reckoned as on 01 January 2026. The candidate should not be below 18 years and not over 32 years. Date of birth must match the Matriculation / Secondary certificate. Permitted band in the notice: born not earlier than 02 January 1994 and not later than 01 January 2008.

What Is the Senior Personal Assistant Salary in Delhi?

SPA is Level-8 of the 7th CPC pay matrix (basic ₹47,600). PA is Level-7 (basic ₹44,900). New Delhi is an X-class city, so HRA is 30% of basic. Figures below use DA at about 55% of basic, which is the working 2026 assumption in the 7th CPC Salary Calculator. They are indicative, not an appointment letter.

Net is always below gross after NPS and ordinary deductions. Actual take-home moves with the next DA order, CGHS or medical recovery, and any High Court-specific allowance. Court work can include odd hours and holidays. That does not change the pay level. It does change how the job feels against a 10:00–5:30 ministry desk.

What Is the Application Fee?

Pay separately for SPA and for PA if you apply for both. Payment is online through UPI, net banking, credit card or debit card. Fee once paid is not refunded and is not adjusted against another exam.

Correction charges (all categories): ₹200 for the first correction; ₹500 for the second. Name, category, date of birth and mobile number cannot be edited even in the correction window.

An application without the prescribed fee is rejected summarily.

How to Apply?

Applications are accepted only online through the High Court of Delhi website. No offline form is accepted. The apply module opens at 11:00 AM on 15 September 2026.

1. Open the Delhi High Court official website → go to Job Openings / Recruitment → open the Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant Examination 2026 link when it goes live on 15 September 2026.
2. Register with one email ID and one mobile number. Save the system-generated registration/application number.
3. Fill the form exactly as on the Matriculation certificate for name, date of birth and parent/spouse name.
4. Upload a colour passport-size photograph (JPEG, 100 KB–200 KB, not more than three months old, about 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, 3/4th face, no cap/mask/spectacles).
5. Capture and upload a live photograph from a webcam or phone. It must match the scanned photo, or the form will not proceed.
6. Upload left-hand thumb impression (JPEG, 50 KB–200 KB). Use the right thumb only if the left is unavailable.
7. Upload signature (JPEG, 50 KB–150 KB). Capital-letter “signatures” and blurred images are rejected.
8. Pay the fee for that post. Generate and save the Confirmation Page only after successful payment.
9. If you are eligible for both posts, submit a second full application with a second fee.
10. Use the correction window between 12 and 14 October 2026 if needed (maximum two times).

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Filing one form for both SPA and PA. The notice asks for a separate application and a separate fee for each post.
• Signing in BLOCK letters. That is treated as an invalid signature.
• Letting the live photo differ from the scanned photo. The portal blocks further steps on a mismatch.
• Using an old OBC-NCL paper. Reservation needs an NCL issued between 01 April 2026 and 31 March 2027 by a GNCTD competent authority.
• Assuming a scribe or extra time. The notice gives neither, including for PwBD candidates.
• Editing Name, Category, Date of Birth or Mobile later. Those four fields are locked.
• Paying the fee and closing the tab before the Confirmation Page is saved.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is a four-stage process. Typing only opens the next gate. Final merit is the sum of Stage-II, Stage-III and Stage-IV marks, subject to document verification and the reservation roster.

Stage I – English Typing Test (qualifying only)
10 minutes on a computer. Minimum 40 words per minute. Speed is counted by the “characters with spaces” method. Mistakes allowed: 3% of words typed. Fail this stage, and you do not reach shorthand.

Stage II – English Shorthand Test
SPA: 110 w.p.m., 550-word passage dictated in 5 minutes, 45 minutes to transcribe, 120 marks. Permissible mistakes: 27.5 (5%). Four marks off for each full mistake, two marks off for each half mistake. More than 27.5 mistakes means disqualification.
PA: 100 w.p.m., 500-word passage, same time, 110 marks, 25 permissible mistakes.
Each candidate gets two dictation-transcription attempts. The better score is kept.

Stage III – Main (Descriptive) Examination
100 marks, 120 minutes, English medium only.

Qualifying marks: 50% (50 marks) for General on SPA; 45% (45 marks) for reserved categories including PwBD. PA has no General vacancy, so the 45% line applies to the reserved categories competing for PA.

Stage IV – Interview
15 marks. No minimum qualifying mark is printed.

Merit and ties
Merit = Stage II + Stage III + Stage IV. Ties are broken in this order: Stage II marks, then Stage III, then Stage IV, then older date of birth.

No stage is waived for PwBD candidates. No scribe. No compensatory time. Medium of every written / skill stage is English only. No re-evaluation. No TA/DA.

The High Court of Delhi was established on 31 October 1966. It is the constitutional High Court for the National Capital Territory and sits at Sher Shah Road, New Delhi – 110503. Registry staff support benches, judgments, listing and court administration.

Candidates search this employer because a High Court PA or SPA is a Group ‘B’ regular post with 7th CPC pay inside a court, not a district office or a contractual court project. The shorthand bar is high, so the applicant pool is smaller than for SSC Stenographer Grade C/D. Posting is in New Delhi, which many stenographers prefer to an all-India transfer cadre.
