Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, the statutory electricity regulator under the Electricity Act, 2003 and functioning under the Ministry of Power, has opened a New Delhi headquarters intake dated 03 September 2026. Notice No. ADMN-12012/1/2019-CERC seeks 17 officers and assistants on deputation on foreign-service terms or short-term contract.
This is not a campus-style open-market drive. CERC wants serving staff from Central or State Governments, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies who already handle finance, regulation, engineering, accounts or secretariat work. Hard copies must reach 8th Floor, Tower B, World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi – 110 029 by 18 October 2026. Candidates must also register on the CERC vacancy portal.
Pay spans Level-6 (₹35,400 basic) to Level-13 (₹1,23,100 basic). There is no written paper in this circular. A parallel CERC circular (last date 08 October 2026) is running for other posts. Use only the Vacancy Notice dated 03 September 2026 for these 17 seats.

What Posts Are Available? – CERC Vacancy & Eligibility 2026
Nine of the 17 seats sit at Level-10 and above. Assistant (5) and Private Secretary (4) form the volume cluster. Finance and accounts together take four seats (Joint Chief Fin, Assistant Chief Fin, PAO, SAO). There is no UR / OBC / SC / ST roster in this circular because intake is deputation, not direct recruitment. SC / ST / OBC applicants get preference only when other conditions are equal.
Your service record decides the shortlist before any interaction.
This circular does not mention a written test. CERC will screen qualifications, qualifying service and APARs, then call only shortlisted officers for interaction. A weak APAR file or missing vigilance clearance can stop you before the interaction stage.

Footnote: Qualifying service (analogous post or specified years in the feeder level) applies to every row. The competent authority may relax essential qualifications or experience in deserving cases. Two Assistant seats give weight to GeM portal/procurement work. PAO prefers officers who have prepared BE / RE and Annual Statement of Accounts.
Mandatory vs preferred (do not mix these):
Mandatory: the qualifying service ladder and the core qualification named for that post.
Preferred only: Engineering along with CA / CMA; Commerce for PAO / SAO; MS Office for Assistant; GeM/procurement for two Assistant seats; budget-statement experience for PAO. Missing a “preferred” item does not by itself make you ineligible.
What Is the Age Limit?
Maximum age is 56 years on the last date of receipt of applications, that is 18 October 2026. That 56-year cap is the standard deputation ceiling used in this circular. No separate printed category-wise maximum (OBC +3, SC/ST +5) appears in the notice. Do not assume extra years beyond 56 unless your cadre controlling authority and CERC both accept a documented exception.
| Category | Minimum | Maximum as printed |
|---|---|---|
| All applicants named in the circular | Not printed | 56 years as on 18 October 2026 |
Examples:
✅ A 55-year-old officer born on 19 October 1971 — eligible (within the 56-year limit as on 18 October 2026).
❌ A 57-year-old officer born on 17 October 1969 — not eligible (exceeds the maximum age by 1 year).
Use our Age Eligibility Calculator to check instantly. Count completed years on 18 October 2026, not on the date you fill the form.
What Is the Officer Salary in New Delhi?
CERC pays 7th CPC basic plus Dearness Allowance, HRA and Transport Allowance at Central Government rates. New Delhi is an X-class city (30% HRA). Figures below are indicative take-home for a Delhi posting at current DA near 55% of basic, minus NPS-style 10% on basic + DA. Actual pay on deputation also depends on parent-cadre rules and whether Deputation (Duty) Allowance is admissible.
| Post | Basic | Indicative gross (Delhi) | Indicative in-hand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Joint Chief (Fin), Level-13 | ₹1,23,100 | ~₹2.35–₹2.45 lakh | ~₹2.10–₹2.25 lakh |
| Deputy Chief (RA), Level-12 | ₹78,800 | ~₹1.50–₹1.60 lakh | ~₹1.35–₹1.48 lakh |
| Asst. Secretary / Asst. Chief, Level-11 | ₹67,700 | ~₹1.28–₹1.38 lakh | ~₹1.15–₹1.28 lakh |
| PAO / SAO, Level-10 | ₹56,100 | ~₹1.06–₹1.15 lakh | ~₹95,000–₹1.08 lakh |
| Private Secretary, Level-7 | ₹44,900 | ~₹84,000–₹92,000 | ~₹75,000–₹84,000 |
| Assistant, Level-6 | ₹35,400 | ~₹66,000–₹74,000 | ~₹58,000–₹68,000 |
Claim + proof: Level-6 example is basic ₹35,400 + DA ~55% (₹19,470) + HRA 30% (₹10,620) + TA with DA, then NPS-like deduction on basic + DA. Use the 7th CPC Salary Calculator for a line-by-line estimate. This calculator provides an indicative figure. Parent department recovery of leave salary, pension or NPS contribution is deducted from the CERC salary and remitted back.
Deputation package stated in the circular:
Foreign-service terms: leave-salary contribution, pension or NPS contribution, Deputation (Duty) Allowance if applicable.
Short-term contract: leave-salary contribution, gratuity contribution, Deputation (Duty) Allowance if applicable, and any one of CPF / EPF / NPS.
No extra allowances beyond Government of India / CERC entitlement. Posts are exempt from immediate absorption. Leased accommodation up to two times admissible HRA may be taken under CERC (Leased Accommodation) Regulations, 2007, if opted. Indoor/outdoor medical cover under CERC (Indoor/Outdoor Medical Facilities) Regulations, 2005, is in lieu of parent-organisation or CGHS cover if you opt for it.
What Is the Application Fee?
No application fee is printed in Notice No. ADMN-12012/1/2019-CERC. Do not pay anyone who calls asking for a processing charge.
How to Apply?
CERC asks for both an online filing and a signed hard copy through proper channels. Completing only one of the two is the main rejection risk.
Apply-once note: Use a separate covering envelope and form for each post you want. Superscribe the post name on the envelope. Do not assume one form covers Joint Chief and Assistant together.
| Step | What you do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Read the circular | Download Annexure-I (eligibility) and Annexure-II (bio-data) | CERC Vacancy Notice 03 September 2026 PDF |
| 2. Register online | One-time registration, then apply against the live advertisement | CERC online recruitment portal |
| 3. Fill Annexure-II | Bio-data, pay drawn, duties, SC/ST/OBC if applicable | Same PDF, last annexure |
| 4. Parent office forwarding | APARs for the last 5 years, vigilance clearance, integrity certificate, employer certificate | Cadre controlling authority |
| 5. Post the set | Reach Deputy Chief (Admin) by 18 October 2026 | Address below |
Postal address (copy exactly):
Deputy Chief (Admin), Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, 8th Floor, Tower B, World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi – 110 029.
Envelope superscription: “Application for the post of _______________”.
Advance copies are accepted only if the complete through-proper-channel set arrives within 30 days after the closing date, that is by 17 November 2026. Incomplete or wrong-format forms are rejected.
If you upload a photo or signature on the portal, resize files first with the Photo & Signature Resizer. Count qualifying service with the Experience Calculator.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Online only, or post only. The circular asks applicants to apply online through the vacancy page and also forward Annexure-II to Deputy Chief (Admin).
- Sending the packet to general CERC reception without the post name on the envelope. Room-level routing starts with that superscription.
- Waiting for the parent office after 18 October. Your file must reach CERC by that date. The 17 November window is only for the proper-channel copy when an advance copy is already in.
- Mixing the 08 October circular with this 18 October circular. Different PDF, different posts.
- Treating “preferably Commerce / GeM / Engineering” as mandatory and not applying, or the reverse: skipping APARs because you hold a preferred qualification.

विस्तृत विज्ञापन cercind.gov.in/vacancy.html पर है। यह सीईआरसी भर्ती 2026 का आधिकारिक माध्यम है।
How Are Candidates Selected?
Selection is a chain, not a single event.
- Screening of Annexure-II against qualifications, qualifying service and experience written in Annexure-I.
- Document and service-record check (APARs for five years, vigilance, integrity).
- Interaction of shortlisted officers only. Applying does not create a right to be called.
- Offer on deputation / short-term contract, subject to being spared by the parent office.
- Joining at CERC, New Delhi, with contributions to leave salary and pension / NPS / gratuity arranged as per the circular.
No written-exam syllabus, no negative marking and no interview mark sheet are printed. Final appointment still depends on document verification and the parent office releasing you. The competent authority may relax essential qualifications or experience in deserving cases. Vacancy numbers can change at the time of selection.
No interview date is notified. No separate “exam city” list applies.
Why Does This Electricity Regulator Matter?
CERC is the national electricity regulator constituted under the Electricity Act, 2003. It frames tariff and market rules for interstate generation and transmission and is based in New Delhi. Officers joining on deputation work on tariff petitions, regulatory affairs, Forum of Regulators support, economics, engineering analysis or HQ accounts.
The Commission is a statutory body, not a generation PSU. Daily work is paper-heavy, hearing-driven and Delhi-based. Candidates searching “CERC career”, “CERC vacancy 2026” or “electricity regulator jobs Delhi” usually want HQ exposure without leaving the government ecosystem.
Internal starting points on this site: power-sector jobs and Delhi government jobs.
Downside: this is a borrowing of your service, not a fresh sanctioned direct-recruit cadre. After the deputation term, you return to the parent organisation unless a later process absorbs you. Immediate absorption is expressly exempted here, which protects your lien but also means CERC is not promising a permanent CERC cadre seat.
The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take
Officers comparing tabs right now are usually looking at CEA, Grid-India, DERC or the other live CERC circular that closes on 08 October 2026. Against those, this 03 September notice is the broader HQ mix: one Level-13 finance seat, a Regulatory Affairs deputy slot, four Level-11 specialist seats, two Level-10 accounts seats, and nine secretariat seats. DERC stays inside the Delhi electricity distribution universe. CEA is more technical planning. This list is the one that also takes Assistants and Private Secretaries.
Best fit: Central or State accounts and finance officers who already sit in Level-6 to Level-12 and want a regulator on their CV; PS / Assistant grade staff who can show MS Office and clean APARs; engineers and economists who have touched tariff or market files.
Skip this if you need an open competitive exam for outsiders. Private-sector CAs without PSU or government service will not clear the “officers of Central / State Governments, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies” gate. Also skip if you cannot get forwarding by mid-October, or if you want a posting outside Delhi.

Practical tip: Start the parent-office file this week. Five-year APAR bundles and vigilance clearance routinely take longer than filling Annexure-II. File the online form first so the advance copy and portal entry match, then chase administration for the forwarding letter.
What Documents Are Required?
- Annexure-II bio-data, signed
- Proof of date of birth
- Qualification certificates matching the post
- Experience/duty list (separate sheet if needed)
- Last pay details (basic, grade pay/level, DA, HRA, TA)
- Attested APARs / ACRs for the last five years
- Latest vigilance clearance and integrity certificate
- Employer certificate in the format printed in the PDF (facts verified by an officer not below Under Secretary)
- Category certificate if you claim SC / ST / OBC preference
- Online application acknowledgement from the CERC portal
Document alert: The employer certificate must confirm date of birth, qualifications, experience, integrity, and that no vigilance case is pending. A self-attested set without that certificate is incomplete.
Service Conditions
Normal tenure of deputation / short-term contract under CERC recruitment rules is five years. Pay fixation and Deputation (Duty) Allowance follow DoPT OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010 read with CERC Staff Regulations, 2007, as amended. Selected officers cannot withdraw. If you decline the offer, CERC will not consider you for two years from the cancellation of the offer.
Posts are exempt from the principle of immediate absorption. Government accommodation retention or allotment may be available; leased housing is optional under the 2007 leased-accommodation regulations. Medical facilities follow CERC’s 2005 regulations if you opt out of parent / CGHS cover. CERC will not pay a medical contribution to the parent body if you keep parent / CGHS facilities.
What Happens After Selection?
- CERC issues a selection communication and seeks your sparing from the parent office.
- Parent department issues a release / foreign-service order and forwards LPC, leave account and vigilance status.
- You join at 8th Floor, Tower B, World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi – 110 029 and take charge of the allotted division (Finance, RA, FOR, Economics, Engineering, Accounts or Secretariat).
- CERC starts remitting leave-salary and pension / NPS / gratuity contributions to the parent account after deducting them from your monthly pay.
- You opt for CERC medical rules or retain parent / CGHS cover, and decide whether to take leased accommodation up to two times HRA.
- On completion of the approved term, you revert to the parent cadre unless a fresh tenure is sanctioned. There is no automatic absorption on this circular.
Timeline for similar statutory-body deputations is often 2–4 months from interaction to joining, depending on how fast the parent office relieves you.

FAQs – CERC Assistant Recruitment 2026
What is the last date to apply for CERC Assistant Recruitment 2026?
18 October 2026, the date by which the hard copy must reach the Deputy Chief (Admin), CERC, New Delhi. Online filing on the vacancy portal is also required. No extension is announced as of 05 September 2026. A proper-channel copy may follow till 17 November 2026 only if the advance set has already arrived.
What is the age limit for CERC Assistant and officer posts?
56 years as of 18 October 2026 for every post in this circular. That is the printed deputation cap. Separate OBC or SC/ST extra years beyond 56 are not tabulated here. Check with your cadre authority before assuming any age beyond 56.
Is there an exam for CERC New Delhi posts, or is it interview-based?
No written exam is mentioned. CERC will shortlist from service records and call some officers for interaction. Applying does not guarantee an interaction call. Final joining still needs parent-office release and document checks.
What is the salary of CERC Assistant and officer posts in New Delhi?
Assistants start at Level-6 basic ₹35,400; Joint Chief (Fin) at Level-13 basic ₹1,23,100. Indicative Delhi in-hand is about ₹58,000–₹68,000 at Level-6 and about ₹2.10–₹2.25 lakh at Level-13, before parent recoveries. Use the salary section figures as estimates only.
Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for CERC 2026?
No. This circular is for serving officers who already hold the qualification and the qualifying service. There is no clause for result-awaited students or fresh graduates outside government, PSU or autonomous service.
Is CERC Assistant a permanent government job?
No. These 17 seats are deputation on foreign-service terms or short-term contract. You keep your parent lien. Immediate absorption is exempted. After the approved tenure, you go back unless a later order extends or absorbs you.
Can candidates from other states apply for CERC recruitment?
Yes, if they already work in the Central or State Government, a PSU or an autonomous body and meet the post’s qualifying service. There is no Delhi domicile test. The posting itself is at the New Delhi headquarters.
Where will I be posted if I get selected for these CERC posts?
At CERC headquarters, 8th Floor, Tower B, World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi – 110 029. This circular does not offer a state-cadre or field-circle choice.
Do I need NOC before applying for this deputation?
Yes. Applications must go through proper channel with APARs, vigilance clearance and the employer certificate. An advance copy can be sent, but the forwarded set must follow. Unlike some open-market jobs, NOC readiness only at joining is not enough here.
Is there any application fee for CERC deputation posts?
Not mentioned in the 03 September 2026 circular. Ignore calls that ask for a portal fee or middleman charge. Pay nothing outside official Government of India or CERC channels.
What are the disadvantages of a CERC deputation in New Delhi?
Worth knowing before you apply: you do not get a permanent CERC cadre post on this notice, Delhi living costs eat a slice of even Level-13 pay if you lack government housing, and declining the offer after selection blocks you at CERC for two years. Work is regulatory paperwork, not plant posting.
How much do regulatory commission officers earn in Delhi?
Level-11 specialists in central regulators typically take home a little over ₹1 lakh in Delhi once DA and 30% HRA are added to a ₹67,700 basic. Level-6 assistants land closer to ₹60,000. Exact in-hand still follows your Level and NPS or pension recovery.
Can PSU officers apply for central electricity regulator posts?
Yes. The circular allows Public Sector Undertakings and autonomous bodies on short-term contract, besides Central and State Government officers on foreign-service terms. Private company staff who are not in those three groups are outside the gate.
Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?
- You are serving in Central / State Government, a PSU or an autonomous body, not in an unaffiliated private firm.
- You will be 56 or below on 18 October 2026, and you match the qualifying service for one named post.
- You can get five-year APARs, vigilance clearance and forwarding before the file must reach New Delhi.
- You have filed the same post on the CERC portal and on Annexure-II.
- You accept a New Delhi HQ deputation with no written exam and no automatic absorption.
