Screening Test on 24 January 2027, then a descriptive Mains and an interview: the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), Vijayawada, has invited online applications for 166 Group-I Services posts under Notification No. 07/2026 dated 06 October 2026.

The cadre covers Deputy Collector, Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Civil), DSP (Communications), District Educational Officer, Regional Transport Officer, District Tribal Welfare Officer, Deputy Registrar, Municipal Commissioner Grade-II, Assistant Treasury Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer, District Employment Officer, Assistant Audit Officer and Divisional Development Officer. These are state civil-service posts. Forms are available on psc.ap.gov.in from 06 October 2026 to 27 October 2026, up to 11:59 PM.

A bachelor’s degree is the common gate, except for DSP (Communications), which requires a named engineering degree. Age is reckoned as on 01 July 2026. Local reservation of 95 per cent applies to every post except DSP (Communications), which is a state cadre post.

⚠️ Application Alerts

  • One Time Profile Registration (OTPR) is not an application. The form counts only after Save & Submit and a successful fee payment. A saved but unpaid form is incomplete.
  • The degree must be held as on 06 October 2026, the date of this detailed notification. That date is earlier than the 27 October closing date.
  • BC Non-Creamy Layer and EWS certificates must be issued on or after 01 April 2026 (income of FY 2025-26) and not later than the closing date. A certificate from an earlier year will not carry the reservation claim.
  • Name, fee and age-relaxation fields cannot be corrected later. Other fields can be corrected for 7 days after the last date, at ₹100 per correction.
  • Post and multi-zone or zone preferences taken at certificate verification are the ones treated as final, and even those do not bind the Commission.

How to Apply?

  1. If you have no OTPR ID, register bio-data on psc.ap.gov.in. The user ID is sent to the registered mobile number and email. Keep that mobile number and email for OTP.
  2. Log in with the OTPR ID. Open Online Application Submission, then fill the application against Notification No. 07/2026. The window is open until 27 October 2026, 11:59 PM.
  3. Fill in local or non-local status, white-card details, qualifications, post preferences and centre. Fee and age relaxation are calculated from OTPR data.
  4. Click Save & Submit, then pay. Save alone does not submit the form. Download the filled application PDF after the payment reference ID is generated.
  5. If payment fails, start a fresh payment from Step II. Do not send a paper application. Any mode other than the prescribed online mode is not entertained.

Screening centres are the district centres, including newly formed districts. Main Examination centres are the erstwhile district headquarters. Give three centre preferences for each stage. The Commission can allot a different centre.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Treating OTPR as the application. It is not.
  • Leaving the form on Save. Only Save & Submit plus payment completes it.
  • Claiming BC or EWS with a certificate issued before 01 April 2026.
  • Editing the name, fee or age-relaxation field later. Those fields are locked.
  • Applying for DSP (Communications) with a general degree, or for DSP (Civil) without the printed height and chest standards.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection has three stages. Screening marks are not added to the final merit.

  1. Screening Test on 24 January 2027, offline OMR. Paper I: General Studies, 120 questions, 120 marks, 120 minutes. Paper II: General Aptitude, 120 questions, 120 marks, 120 minutes. Each wrong answer loses one-third of the marks for that question. Candidates equal to 50 times the vacancies are taken to Mains, irrespective of community. Absence in either paper disqualifies.
  2. Main Examination, descriptive. Telugu and English papers are qualifying, 150 marks and 180 minutes each. Minimum in each language paper: 40 per cent for OC, sportspersons and EWS; 35 per cent for BC; 30 per cent for SC, ST and PBD. Five merit papers of 150 marks each: General Essay; History, Culture and Geography; Polity, Constitution, Governance, Law and Ethics; Economy and Development of India and Andhra Pradesh; Science, Technology and Environmental Issues. Aggregate qualifying marks: 40 per cent OC, sportspersons and EWS; 35 per cent BC; 30 per cent SC, ST and PBD.
  3. Interview (Personality Test), 75 marks, at a 1:2 ratio to vacancies. Final merit is Mains 750 plus Interview 75, total 825.

Merit papers may be written in English, Telugu or Urdu, chosen before the Mains. All five papers must be in that one medium. The question paper is set in English and translated into Telugu. The English version is authentic for valuation. If marks are equal, the older candidate ranks first. If age is also equal, the earlier qualification date ranks first.

DSP (Civil) vision is certified by an Ophthalmic Surgeon without contact lenses. Standard-I is 6/6 distant and reads 0.6 near, in each eye. Inability to distinguish principal colours is noted, not treated as a rejection by itself. DSP (Communications) Standard-I is 6/6 distant and 0.5 Snellen near, without glasses. Colour blindness, squint, knock knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes, fractured limbs and decayed teeth are disqualifications for Post Code 04. Full medical guidance is in Annexure-V.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

This is the Group-I Services intake; the officer-level direct recruitment APPSC runs separately from the other 06 October 2026 notifications on the same page, including Assistant Environmental Engineer and Horticulture Officer. Those are different advertisement numbers. A candidate comparing tabs is comparing Deputy Collector and DSP seats here with those specialist notices, not with a clerical Group-II paper.

Best fit: a graduate who can sit a two-paper screening in January 2027 and then five descriptive papers, and who is local to the multi-zone where the seats actually sit. Divisional Development Officer (35) and DSP (Civil) (36) are the large rows. Deputy Collector is 12 seats, split 6 and 6 across the two multi-zones.

Leave this one if the DSP (Civil) age cap of 30, or the 167.6 cm height, already fails, or if you need a metro posting of your choice. Zone and post preferences are considered to the extent possible. Para 15.10 says they do not limit the Commission’s power to assign any notified post for which you are eligible.

Practical tip: Finish OTPR, then the application, on a day when you can pay. A saved form with no payment reference is not in the list. Keep the BC or EWS certificate dated on or after 01 April 2026 in the file you will carry to verification.

What Documents Are Required?

Produce these when called. The notice does not ask for them to be uploaded as a bundle with the form.

  • Degree certificate. The qualification must have been held on 06 October 2026.
  • Study certificates from Class I to Class VII, or a residence certificate if you did not study in that period, for a local claim.
  • Community certificate from a Revenue authority not below Tahsildar. For an SC claim, the notice follows the rule that a person who professes a religion other than Hinduism is not treated as Scheduled Caste, with the printed exception for converts to Buddhism.
  • BC Non-Creamy Layer certificate from the Tahsildar, issued on or after 01 April 2026 and not later than the closing date.
  • EWS certificate in digital format from a Tahsildar, based on FY 2025-26 income, issued on or after 01 April 2026 and not later than the closing date. The income ceiling printed for EWS is a gross annual family income below ₹8 lakh.
  • White-card proof, or the unemployed-youth declaration, if you claim the examination-fee exemption.
  • Downloaded application PDF and the payment reference.

A later change of community is not entertained.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. Screening shortlist at 50 times the vacancies. Screening marks do not enter the final total.
  2. Mains, then interview at 1:2. Merit is 750 plus 75.
  3. Certificate verification. Post and zone preferences given at this stage are mandatory and treated as final, but they are not a right to that zone.
  4. Appointment only to the vacancies notified. There is no waiting list.
  5. The Commission may use digital or conventional evaluation of Mains scripts. The notice does not print a joining date.

Contact & Helpline

The 06 October 2026 notification does not print a recruitment helpline or email. Correspondence and hall tickets are through the Commission’s website, psc.ap.gov.in. The issuing office is the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, Vijayawada.

FAQs – APPSC Group-I 2026

Q1: What is the last date to apply for APPSC Group-I 2026?

A: 27 October 2026, up to 11:59 PM, on psc.ap.gov.in. The notice sets this as the last date. No extension has been announced as of 06 October 2026. A correction window of up to 7 days after that date is printed, at ₹100 per correction, and it does not move the closing time.

Q2: What is the age limit for APPSC Group-I posts?

A: 18 to 44 years as on 01 July 2026 for most posts. DSP (Civil) is 21 to 30. DSP (Communications) is 18 to 30. SC, ST, BC and EWS get 5 years, and PBD gets 10 years, but the relaxed age must not cross the maximum for that post. Age is calculated as on 01 July 2026.

Q3: Is there an exam for APPSC Group-I, or is it interview-based?

A: Yes, there is an exam. Screening on 24 January 2027 is objective, with one-third negative marking, and only shortlists. Mains is descriptive. The interview is 75 marks at a 1:2 ratio. Final merit is Mains plus interview, 825 marks.

Q4: What is the salary of APPSC Group-I posts?

A: The printed scales run from ₹54,060–1,40,540 to ₹65,360–1,54,980. Divisional Development Officer is the highest-paying post in this notice. The notification does not print an in-hand figure.

Q5: Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for APPSC Group-I 2026?

A: The degree must have been obtained by 06 October 2026, the date of the detailed notification. That is the crucial date for the academic qualification. A candidate who will receive the degree only after that date should not assume eligibility.

Q6: Is APPSC Group-I a permanent government job?

A: This is advertised as a regular Group-I Services appointment under the departmental special rules cited in Para 13. Regular appointments are made under those service rules. The notice itself does not use the phrase “permanent government job”, and it does not print a probation period in the clauses read.

Q7: Can candidates from other states apply for APPSC recruitment?

A: It depends on the post. Other-state candidates may apply, but SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates from other states are not entitled to reservation. Local reservation of 95 per cent applies to every post except DSP (Communications). PBD and Ex-Servicemen from other states keep the examination-fee exemption.

Q8: Where will I be posted if I get selected for APPSC Group-I?

A: Within Andhra Pradesh, in the multi-zone or zone of the post, except DSP (Communications), which is a state cadre post. Preferences are taken before Mains and again at certificate verification. The verification option is final, but Para 15.10 says a preference does not confer a right to that zone.

Q9: How many times are the vacancies called to Mains and interview?

A: Screening admits 50 times the vacancies to the written Mains, irrespective of community. The interview is at 1:2 against the vacancies, with the horizontal and vertical reservation rules. Use our Cut-off Marks Calculator only as a practice aid. This notice does not print a cut-off.

Q10: What should I know before applying?

A: Worth knowing before you apply: the fee is not refunded, there is no waiting list, and a post preference is not a promise of that post. The Commission can assign any notified post for which you are eligible.

Q11: What is the salary of a Deputy Collector in Andhra Pradesh?

A: In this notification, the Deputy Collector scale is ₹61,960–1,51,370. The same scale is printed for Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, both DSP posts and District Educational Officer. Allowances are not printed.
