Quick Overview – AIIMS Nagpur Project Posts 2026

What Posts Are Available? – AIIMS Nagpur Vacancy & Eligibility 2026

The drive is small and field-heavy. Three of five seats sit at Project Technical Support III, which is the volume post for MSW / B.Sc (Life Sciences) candidates with community-research experience. The two Scientist seats are medical-only (MBBS / BVSc / BDS route). Category-wise UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS split is not printed in this advertisement.

Medical Scientist Posts — 2 posts

Post NameVacanciesQualificationRemuneration
Project Research Scientist II (Medical)1MBBS / BVSc / BDS + 3 yrs exp or MBBS / BVSc / BDS + MD / MVSc / MDS / MPH or MBBS / BVSc / BDS + PhD₹80,000 + HRA (₹96,000)
Project Research Scientist I (Medical)1MBBS / BVSc / BDS or equivalent₹67,000 + HRA (₹80,400)

Field Support Posts — 3 posts

Post NameVacanciesQualificationRemuneration
Project Technical Support III3BSW / B.Sc (Community Health / Life Sciences) + 3 yrs community-based research or MSW / MPH₹28,000 + HRA (₹33,600)

Higher qualifications may apply; pay stays as per the advertised post. Desirable item for all three posts: one year in community-based health research (MPH also preferred for Scientist I and Technical Support III).

Your community-research experience and MPH can decide the shortlist
There is no guaranteed written paper for every applicant. If applications are many, the institute may shortlist on desirable criteria and/or hold a written/skill test before interview. A thin field-research record can keep you off the interview list even if the essential degree is in place.

What Is the Age Limit for IMPACT-NCD Project Posts?

Age limits below follow the notification. The exact “as on” date is not printed; treat 30 September 2026 (last date) as the practical reckoning date and verify from any later notice on the website.

CategoryScientist II (max 40)Scientist I / Technical Support III (max 35)
UR / EWS40 years35 years
OBC43 years38 years
SC / ST45 years40 years

Relaxation of up to 5 years may also be granted, case by case, to deserving candidates with Government Research Organisation experience, by DG, ICMR / Head of the Institution. PwBD relaxation is not specified in this advertisement.

Examples (Scientist II, UR, 40-year limit as on 30 September 2026):

✅ A 39-year-old UR candidate born on 01 October 1986 — eligible (within the 40-year limit as on 30 September 2026).
❌ A 41-year-old UR candidate born on 29 September 1985 — not eligible (exceeds maximum age by 1 year).

Use our Age Eligibility Calculator to check instantly.

Use our Experience Calculator if you are counting the 3-year research/experience route.

Domicile: No Maharashtra domicile is stated. Indian nationals who can work and travel in Nagpur district may apply. Language fluency is the real local filter.

What Is the Project Research Scientist Remuneration in Nagpur?

Pay is consolidated ICMR project remuneration plus a fixed 20% HRA. Nagpur is a Y-class city, which matches the 20% HRA used in the notification. No other allowance is payable except travel claims as per project rules.

PostBasicHRA (20%)Monthly figure in notification
Project Research Scientist II (Medical)₹80,000₹16,000₹96,000
Project Research Scientist I (Medical)₹67,000₹13,400₹80,400
Project Technical Support III₹28,000₹5,600₹33,600

In-hand (indicative): For Scientist II, expect about ₹80,000–₹88,000 after TDS if this is your main income (gross ₹96,000; annual ₹11.52 lakh). Scientist I is similar on a lower slab (gross ₹80,400). Technical Support III at ₹33,600/month may attract little or no TDS on this income alone; tax still depends on your total annual income from all sources. This is contractual pay, not 7th CPC Level pay, and there is no DA revision cycle like regular AIIMS staff.

Use our Income Tax Calculator for an indicative TDS estimate. The calculator is only a guide; Form-16 / project accounts will prevail.

No NPS, no CGHS as a matter of right, and no NPA is mentioned. Hostel, canteen or transport is not promised in the advertisement.

What Is the Application Fee?

Not mentioned in the official notification. The Google Forms do not describe a payment step. Do not pay anyone who claims a “processing fee” on the phone or WhatsApp.

How to Apply?

Applications are accepted only on the prescribed Annexure, uploaded through the correct Google Form. A generic CV will be treated as non-compliant.

Two forms, two post families:

  3. Sign, scan and keep a clear PDF. Suggested (not stated in the notification): keep the file under 5 MB and name it Annexure_YourName_Post.pdf.
  4. Open the matching Google Form. Upload the signed Annexure in the designated slot only.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Uploading a LinkedIn-style CV instead of the signed Annexure I / II
  • Using the Scientist form for Technical Support III, or the reverse
  • Missing the 5:00 PM cut-off on 30 September 2026
  • Assuming an online interview; the notification says online interview will not be permitted because a written test is also expected
  • Skipping the NOC if you are already on an ICMR/DHR project
  • Treating this as a regular AIIMS appointment in your documents or expectations

How Are Project Research Scientists Selected?

Selection is a chain of stages, not a single interview.

  1. Form screening on the prescribed Annexure (deadline 30 September 2026, 5:00 PM).
  2. Shortlisting on essential plus desirable criteria (community-research experience / MPH).
  3. Written test or skill test if applications are high. Online interviews are not allowed.
  4. In-person interview (tentative: Scientists on 06 October 2026; Technical Support III on 07 October 2026). Venue will appear only on the AIIMS Nagpur website.
  5. Document check and joining on project terms. No TA/DA for the interview.

Written-test topics named in the notification:

  • Epidemiology
  • Implementation research (IR)
  • Non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
  • Health-care delivery system in India
  • Qualitative research
  • National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD)

Marks, duration and negative marking are not specified. Final appointment depends on interview performance after shortlisting, subject to document verification. Canvassing leads to rejection.

Why Does AIIMS Nagpur Matter?

AIIMS Nagpur is an Institute of National Importance at Plot No. 2, Sector-20, MIHAN, Nagpur – 441124, set up under PMSSY to expand tertiary care and medical training in Vidarbha. Community Medicine at the institute runs several ICMR implementation studies on NCDs, nutrition and field delivery systems. IMPACT-NCD sits in that public-health research line, not in hospital ward duty.

Candidates search “AIIMS Nagpur project vacancy”, “AIIMS Nagpur ICMR recruitment” and “एम्स नागपूर भरती” because an AIIMS letterhead still carries training value for MPH and community-medicine CVs. The honest limit is scale: five seats, six-month first contract, district travel, and no absorption path. Read more on our AIIMS Nagpur organisation page, public healthcare sector hub and Maharashtra government jobs.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

This notification is closer to other ICMR implementation-research hires in Community Medicine at AIIMS institutes than to AIIMS Senior Resident or faculty drives. Senior Resident is a three-year residency on Level-11 with NPA and ward work. IMPACT-NCD is a field protocol on physical activity and community nutrition, paid from the ICMR project head, with a first term of six months.

Best fit: MBBS / BDS doctors or MSW / MPH graduates who already enjoy household surveys, NP-NCD fieldwork and qualitative interviews, and who want a named AIIMS–ICMR line on the CV before NEET-PG, PhD or a longer project post.

Skip this if you need a stable cadre job. Doctors aiming for Senior Resident, Assistant Professor or a pensionable Group-A seat will find the tenure too short and the work too community-facing. Also skip if Marathi fieldwork or daily travel in Nagpur district does not suit you.

Practical tip: Fill Annexure I or II exactly, name the post (Scientist II vs I), and revise NP-NCD, implementation research and basic epidemiology before 06–07 October 2026. If you are already on another ICMR/DHR project, get the PI NOC now; the form will not wait.

What Documents Are Required?

Keep scans ready for the Google Form and for interview day:

  • Signed Annexure I (Scientist) or Annexure II (Technical Support III)
  • MBBS / BVSc / BDS / BSW / B.Sc / MSW / MPH / MD / MDS / PhD certificates and marksheets
  • Experience letters that state community-based or health-research work, with dates
  • NOC from the current PI if you are on an ICMR/DHR project
  • Identity proof and date-of-birth proof
  • Caste certificate if claiming OBC/SC/ST age relaxation
  • Recent photograph (for interview reporting)

Document alert: Experience letters that only say “worked as medical officer” without community-research or field duties weaken the desirable-criteria shortlist. Get the PI to describe the actual field work.

Service Conditions

  • Tenure job under an ICMR-funded project; first appointment is 6 months
  • Renewal only after PI evaluation and Executive Director approval, up to the project end date
  • Not a regular post of ICMR or AIIMS Nagpur; no permanence claim
  • Resignation requires 30 days’ notice
  • Poor performance can end the contract with one week’s notice
  • Tenure ends automatically when the project ends
  • Fluent English, Marathi and Hindi required
  • Field travel across Nagpur district is part of the job
  • No allowances beyond the stated monthly figure and travel claims

What Happens After Selection?

  1. Watch aiimsnagpur.edu.in/recruitment for the shortlist and interview venue. No personal email or SMS is promised.
  2. Report in person with originals. Online interview is ruled out.
  3. After selection, complete document verification and any project joining formalities set by the PI.
  4. Join the IMPACT-NCD team at AIIMS Nagpur (MIHAN) for a 6-month first contract.
  5. Work will mix protocol tasks, community visits in Nagpur district, and research documentation. Travel is expected.
  6. Extension, if any, depends on your performance review and project need. When the grant ends, the seat ends. Plan the next role (SR, MPH field job, or another ICMR project) during month four or five.

Similar AIIMS project cycles often move from the last date to the interview in about two to four weeks. Joining, if selected, is usually soon after the interview list.

FAQs – AIIMS Nagpur Project Posts 2026

What is the last date to apply for AIIMS Nagpur Project Research Scientist 2026?

30 September 2026, 5:00 PM. Forms after that time will not be entertained. No extension is announced as of 19 September 2026. Submit the correct Google Form with the signed Annexure well before the cut-off.

What is the age limit for AIIMS Nagpur Project Research Scientist?

40 years for Project Research Scientist II (Medical) and 35 years for Project Research Scientist I and Project Technical Support III. OBC gets 3 extra years, and SC/ST gets 5. Extra relaxation up to 5 years for Government Research Organisation experience is case by case. Reckon age as on 30 September 2026 unless a later notice says otherwise.

Is there an exam for AIIMS Nagpur IMPACT-NCD posts, or is it interview-based?

It depends on the number of applicants. A written or skill test may be held if applications are high. Topics include epidemiology, implementation research, NCDs, NP-NCD and qualitative research. Shortlisted candidates then attend an in-person interview. Online interviews are not permitted.

What is the salary of AIIMS Nagpur Project Research Scientist?

₹96,000 per month for Scientist II and ₹80,400 for Scientist I, both inclusive of 20% HRA. Project Technical Support III is ₹33,600. These are consolidated project figures, not 7th CPC pay. No other allowance is payable except travel claims.

Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for AIIMS Nagpur 2026?

No. The notification lists completed MBBS / BVSc / BDS, PG, PhD, BSW, B.Sc or MSW/MPH routes. It does not say that result-awaited candidates may apply. Produce the qualifying certificate by the time of verification.

Is AIIMS Nagpur Project Research Scientist a permanent government job?

No. This is a 6-month ICMR project contract at AIIMS Nagpur, extendable only till the project ends. The advertisement states that these are not regular ICMR or AIIMS posts, and experience cannot be used to claim permanent employment.

Can candidates from other states apply for this recruitment?

Yes. No Maharashtra domicile is printed. You must work in Nagpur district, travel in rural and urban field areas, and speak English, Marathi and Hindi fluently. Language, not nativity, is the local test.

Where will I be posted if I get selected?

Nagpur, Maharashtra. The duty station is the IMPACT-NCD project at AIIMS Nagpur, with travel across Nagpur district. This is not an all-India transfer cadre and not a hospital Senior Resident roster.

Do I need a separate form for Scientist II and Scientist I?

One Google Form covers both medical Scientist posts. Name the exact post on the Annexure. Technical Support III has a different form. Using the wrong form is a frequent rejection risk.

Is MPH mandatory for Project Technical Support III?

No. MPH or MSW is one essential route. The other route is a three-year BSW or B.Sc (Community Health / Life Sciences) plus three years’ community-based research. MPH is preferred, not the only door.

What are the disadvantages of this ICMR project post?

Worth knowing before you apply: the first contract is only six months, there is no absorption, field travel is compulsory, and you get no DA, NPS or NPA. The AIIMS name helps the CV. It does not convert this seat into a regular government job.

How much do ICMR project research scientists earn in medical colleges?

In this notification, the Medical Scientist II rate is ₹80,000 + 20% HRA (₹96,000), and Scientist I is ₹67,000 + 20% HRA (₹80,400). Other ICMR projects use the same broad slabs, but each advertisement prints its own figure. Always read that project’s PDF.

Is an AIIMS project post useful for community medicine careers?

Yes, as short field exposure under an ICMR implementation study. It is useful for MPH graduates and doctors building an NCD-research CV. It is a poor substitute for Senior Residency if your goal is clinical postgraduate training or a permanent faculty track.

Pre-Contract Checklist – Before You Apply

  • You meet the age and educational criteria as on 30 September 2026.
  • You understand this is a fixed-term contract for 6 months initially — not a permanent government job.
  • You are comfortable with the remuneration (₹33,600–₹96,000/month consolidated with HRA) and with TDS on the higher slabs.
  • You can arrange the signed Annexure, degree proofs and experience letters (plus PI NOC if already on an ICMR/DHR project).
  • You accept Nagpur district field travel and can speak English, Marathi and Hindi.
  • You have read the 30-day resignation and one-week termination clauses. Renewal is not guaranteed.
