Fresh engineering graduates and diploma holders from West Bengal now have direct entry into airport operations training. Airports Authority of India (AAI), a Miniratna Category-I Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has opened 38 one-year apprenticeship seats at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport, Kolkata for 2026-27.
The drive covers Graduate, Diploma and ITI Trade apprentices across Civil, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, IT, Technical and COPA streams. Applications run online through the NATS and NAPS portals from 21 July to 24 August 2026. Only West Bengal domicile candidates who passed in 2022 or later can apply.
This is pure skill-building under the Apprentices Act, 1961. There is no permanent job guarantee at the end, but the exposure at India’s busiest eastern gateway airport is valuable for future aviation and PSU roles.

Why Does Airports Authority of India Matter?
Airports Authority of India is a Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. It manages civil aviation infrastructure across India, including runways, terminals, air navigation services and passenger facilities. NSCBI Airport Kolkata is the primary international gateway for eastern India and handles significant domestic and international traffic.
Candidates search for AAI apprentice roles because the one-year training gives hands-on exposure to airport systems, electrical networks, IT infrastructure and civil maintenance that private colleges rarely provide. The stipend is higher than many other PSU apprenticeships. The honest downside is the complete absence of absorption guarantee — most apprentices return to the job market after the training year ends.
The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take
Compared with the larger AAI Eastern Region Apprentice drive (140 seats across multiple airports) released around the same period, the NSCBI-only notification is smaller but location-specific. Candidates who want to stay in Kolkata and avoid multi-airport posting uncertainty will prefer this over the regional drive.
Best fit: Fresh B.E./B. Tech or Diploma holders from West Bengal who passed in 2022-2025, live in or near Kolkata, and want structured airport exposure without exam pressure.
Who should skip: Anyone who has already done one year of apprenticeship or job experience after qualification. Also candidates looking for permanent absorption or a higher stipend (some other PSUs offer ₹18,000+ for graduates).
Practical tip: Complete your NATS/NAPS profile and upload clear scanned certificates at least 10 days before the deadline. Use the exact establishment codes given above — wrong code means your application never reaches the Airport Director’s office.
What Documents Are Required?
- Matriculation / 10th certificate (for age proof)
- Degree / Diploma / ITI mark sheets and certificates
- West Bengal domicile certificate
- Caste certificate (if claiming reservation)
- PwBD certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size photograph and signature
- Aadhaar / valid photo ID
- Medical Fitness Certificate (at joining stage)
What Happens After Selection?
- You receive provisional selection intimation on registered email.
- Appear for document verification and interview at NSCBI Airport, Kolkata on the scheduled date.
- Submit original certificates and Medical Fitness Certificate from a Government Medical Officer.
- On successful verification, you are engaged as an apprentice for exactly one year.
- Training starts under the concerned department (Civil / Electrical / ECE / IT etc.) at NSCBI Airport.
- Monthly stipend is credited after attendance. At the end of one year, you receive the Apprenticeship Certificate. No automatic permanent employment follows.
