RBI Panaji is hiring a neighbourhood doctor, not a full-time officer. Reserve Bank of India, Panaji Office, under the central banking system of the Government of India, has invited offline applications for one Bank’s Medical Consultant (BMC) on contract with fixed hourly pay. The advertisement is dated 26 August 2026. Applications must reach the Regional Director at Gera Imperium-II, Patto, Panaji by 5:00 PM on 16 September 2026.

This is a two-hour weekday clinic slot at the consultant’s own private dispensary, not a Grade B desk job. Duty hours are 12:15 PM to 2:15 PM, Monday to Saturday, excluding Bank holidays. Pay is ₹1,000 per hour, plus ₹1,000 a month as mobile reimbursement. Out of the monthly fee, ₹1,000 is treated as conveyance.

You need an MBBS recognised by the Medical Council of India / National Medical Commission in the Allopathic system and at least two years’ post-qualification practice as a Registered Medical Practitioner. A postgraduate degree in General Medicine is preferred. Your clinic or home must lie within 5 km of the RBI Panaji office. The contract runs three years and will not be renewed.

What Posts Are Available? – RBI Vacancy & Eligibility 2026

Only one designation is on offer. The table is short because the advertisement is for a single BMC seat at Panaji.

Post NameVacanciesQualificationRemuneration
Bank’s Medical Consultant (BMC)01MBBS (Allopathic, MCI/NMC) + 2 yrs as RMP; MD/DNB General Medicine preferred₹1,000/hour

How to read this vacancy: This is not a pan-India RBI Grade B or support-staff drive. It is a local retainer for staff, dependents, retired employees on the Medical Assistance Fund, and emergency cover around the Panaji office. If you already run a clinic in Patto, Panaji, Taleigão, Santa Cruz or nearby and can spare two afternoon hours on working days, this fits. If you live in Margao, Mapusa far side, or Ponda beyond 5 km, the application will fail the distance clause.

✅ Confirmed: 1 UR-advertised post, MBBS + 2 years, 5 km radius, hourly fee, 3-year non-renewable contract.
❓ Not specified: upper or lower age limit, category-wise split of the single seat, interview date, syllabus (none; no CBT).

Eligibility – Education, Experience & Location

  • Education: MBBS of a university recognised by the Medical Council of India in the Allopathic system. Holders of a postgraduate degree in General Medicine from an MCI-recognised university may also apply. Preferential weight is for MD/DNB (General Medicine).
  • Experience: Minimum two years after qualification, practising Allopathic medicine in a hospital or clinic as a Registered Medical Practitioner. The experience certificate must state duty hours and nature of duty.
  • Registration: Registration Certificate issued by MCI / National Medical Commission must accompany the application. If you are not yet on the NMC register, start now; council processing often takes 2–4 weeks.
  • Location: Dispensary or residence within 5 km of Regional Director, RBI, 7th Floor, Gera Imperium-II, Patto, Panaji – 403 001.
  • Category: Advertised for UR. SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS may apply but must meet the same educational bar as UR. OBC Creamy Layer candidates should mark category as General (UR). Caste certificates must be in the prescribed form from the competent authority.

Use our Experience Calculator if your two years of practice need a clean date check.

What Is the Age Limit?

Not specified in the official advertisement. No cut-off date is printed. Do not assume 18–35 or any other bank-officer band.

Examples cannot be calculated until RBI notifies a maximum age.

Use our Age Eligibility Calculator only if a later corrigendum publishes an age cap. Until then, eligibility turns on MBBS, two years’ practice, NMC registration and the 5 km radius.

What Is the Bank’s Medical Consultant Remuneration in Panaji?

Pay is hourly, not 7th CPC Level pay and not an RBI officer scale.

ComponentAmountNotes
Consultation fee₹1,000 per hourPaid monthly for actual duty hours; fixed for the full 3-year contract
Conveyance (accounting treatment)₹1,000 per monthTaken out of the monthly remuneration, not paid extra
Mobile reimbursement₹1,000 per monthIn addition to the hourly fee
Public-holiday call₹1,000 per hourIf asked to attend on a public holiday
Weekly capUp to 30 hoursBank may increase hours; cannot exceed 30 hours a week

Indicative monthly take-home (scheduled slot only): 2 hours × 6 days × 4.3 weeks ≈ 52 hours × ₹1,000 = about ₹52,000? Wait — 2 hours × 6 days = 12 hours/week × 4.3 ≈ 52 hours/month is correct arithmetically if every Saturday is working. Bank holidays will cut a few hours. Add ₹1,000 for mobile. Conveyance is not extra.

A cleaner working estimate: about ₹10,000–₹13,000 in a light month if only the published 2-hour slot is used and holidays fall on weekdays, rising toward ₹25,000–₹31,000 if the Bank uses the 30-hour weekly cap. Figures are indicative. Actual pay = hours performed × ₹1,000 + ₹1,000 mobile, minus TDS under the Income Tax Act.

This is professional-fee income, not salary with DA, HRA, NPS or gratuity. Use our Income Tax Calculator to see TDS against your total annual income from clinic + this retainer. The calculator is only an estimate; the official tax treatment in the engagement letter prevails.

No leave, canteen, quarters or superannuation attach to this contract. Visit fees for staff quarters / leased flats follow a separate Bank schedule when the Bank calls you out.

What Is the Application Fee?

No application fee is prescribed for any category. Do not pay anyone who calls offering a form, shortlist or “medical consultant card”.

How to Apply by Post?

There is no online form on opportunities.rbi.org.in for this seat. Applications are accepted only by Registered Post, courier or hand delivery.

  1. Read the RBI Panaji BMC notification PDF and confirm the 5 km radius and two years of experience.
  2. Download Annex-III (prescribed application) from the RBI vacancies page (open until 16 September 2026, 5:00 PM).
  3. Fill every field. Incomplete forms are rejected.
  4. Attach self-attested copies: age proof, MBBS and any MD/DNB certificates, NMC/MCI registration, experience certificates with duty hours and nature of duty, caste certificate if claiming reserved category, photo.
  5. Seal the envelope and super-scribe exactly: Application for the post of Bank’s Medical Consultant on contract basis (with fixed hourly remuneration).
  6. Send to: Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, 7th Floor, Gera Imperium-II, Patto, Panaji – 403 001, India.
  7. Also email the submission details to hrmdpanaji@rbi.org.in and cespanaji@rbi.org.in.
  8. Keep a photocopy of the filled form and the courier receipt.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Posting from outside the 5 km ring. Map the distance to Gera Imperium-II, Patto before you spend on courier. Beyond 5 km is a stated rejection ground.
  2. Experience letter without duty hours. The PDF insists the certificate must show hours and nature of duty. A vague “worked as RMP” letter is weak.
  3. Skipping the email intimation. Physical delivery plus email to both HRMD and CES IDs is required.
  4. Wrong envelope title. Applications not in Annex-III format, or without the exact superscription, can be thrown out unread.
  5. Assuming this is a permanent RBI doctor post. The contract says no claim for regular employment, pension, PF or gratuity.

If you already work as a Medical Officer elsewhere, carry a No-Objection Certificate to the interview. If you already work more than 30 hours a week in another hospital, a separate NOC is required. Selected doctors also sign a self-declaration that current employers do not object.

How Are Candidates Selected?

Selection is a chain, not a single interview score.

  1. Screening of Annex-III applications against MBBS, two-year RMP experience, registration and 5 km residence/dispensary.
  2. Interview of eligible candidates at RBI Panaji. The Bank may raise minimum standards to keep the interview list short. No correspondence with those not called.
  3. Document verification of originals against the self-attested set.
  4. Medical tests as per Bank norms. Cost is borne by the candidate. No TA/DA for interview or tests.
  5. Contract signing on Annex-I terms and Annex-II code of conduct, only if found medically fit.

No written exam and no CBT are mentioned. Interview performance plus papers plus medical fitness decide engagement.

Why Does RBI Panaji Matter?

Reserve Bank of India is India’s central bank, headquartered in Mumbai and accountable to the Government of India for monetary policy, currency and regulation of banks. The Panaji office is the Bank’s footprint in Goa for currency management, banking supervision support and staff services.

Doctors search “RBI Panaji medical consultant” because the retainer sits next to a stable central-bank campus and a defined staff-and-pensioner patient list. They also search “RBI BMC contract” after seeing similar hourly seats in Chandigarh, Bhopal, Lucknow and Kanpur in the same year. The honest downside: RBI is a prestigious letterhead, but this engagement is a part-time fee contract with no NPS, no quarters and no path into Grade B.

Internal pages that help next: RBI organisation hub, Banking & Insurance sector, Goa government jobs. In Goa, this drive is often searched as “RBI Panaji bharti” as well.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take

RBI Panaji’s BMC seat should be compared with other RBI banks’ Medical Consultant retainers issued the same season at Chandigarh, Bhopal, Lucknow and Kanpur, and with NHM Goa Medical Officer contracts, not with RBI Grade B or SBI Medical Officer cadres. Those Grade B/SBI roles are full-time officer jobs with DA, HRA and career ladders. This one is a two-hour afternoon clinic at your own dispensary.

Best fit: An already-established Allopathic GP or MD (Medicine) whose clinic is within 5 km of Patto, who wants a predictable institutional panel (serving staff, dependents, MAF retirees) without leaving private practice.

Who should skip: Fresh MBBS graduates still building hours; doctors in Margao, Vasco or Ponda who cannot relocate the clinic; anyone treating this as a back door into regular RBI service. The PDF is blunt: no claim for regular employment.

Practical tip: Measure the 5 km radius on a map from Gera Imperium-II before printing Annex-III, and get your NMC registration and hour-wise experience letters in the envelope. Those two papers, not interview charm, decide whether you are even called.

Expect roughly 6–10 weeks from the last date to joining if the interview panel moves at the usual RBI regional pace. There is no promotion ladder on this contract.

What Documents Are Required?

Self-attested copies with the application; originals at DV:

  • Completed Annex-III form
  • Proof of age/date of birth
  • MBBS degree and marksheets
  • MD/DNB (General Medicine) if claimed
  • Registration Certificate from MCI / National Medical Commission
  • Experience certificates stating duty hours and nature of duty
  • Caste / EWS certificate in the prescribed format, if applicable
  • Proof of dispensary or residence address (to show 5 km)
  • Photograph as required in Annex-III
  • NOC from current institutional employer (at interview, if you work as a Medical Officer)
  • Extra NOC if already engaged more than 30 hours a week elsewhere

Document alert: Experience letters that omit hours are the most common weak document on RBI BMC drives. Ask your hospital or clinic to reissue on letterhead with timings.

Service Conditions

The engagement is purely contractual. No pension, Provident Fund, gratuity, leave or staff perquisites. Taxes are deducted at source. Duty hours and even the location of work may be altered for operational need, within the 30-hour weekly cap.

You work as an independent medical service provider, not as an agent of the Bank. Duties include GP-level care at your dispensary, emergency attendance on Bank premises, injections and minor procedures, medical-leave certificates, fitness certificates for staff and recruits, monthly hygiene inspection of office premises, annual staff-health report, and visit-fee calls to quarters when the Bank asks. You must not let a later specialist qualification stop you from acting as a general practitioner for this retainer.

Hostel, canteen or transport are not promised.

What Happens After Selection?

  1. Interview call goes only to screened applicants. Keep both email IDs and the mobile number on Annex-III active.
  2. Carry originals and the institutional NOC to DV. Pay for your own medical tests.
  3. On being declared fit, sign the three-year contract (Annex-I) and the code of conduct (Annex-II).
  4. Start the published afternoon slot at your private dispensary. Staff, dependents and eligible retirees attend during those hours. Urgent after-hours clinic visits follow the Bank’s charge schedule.
  5. Submit the annual health report of staff by 31 March (or the date RBI fixes) and the monthly sanitation note on office premises.
  6. On 36 months, the contract ends. There is no renewal clause in this advertisement. Re-entry would need a fresh notification.

FAQs – RBI Bank’s Medical Consultant 2026

Q1: What is the last date to apply for RBI Bank’s Medical Consultant 2026?

A: 16 September 2026, 5:00 PM. The filled Annex-III form must reach the Regional Director, RBI Panaji, by that time. No extension is announced as of 30 August 2026. Also, email both official IDs after you post the envelope.

Q2: What is the age limit for RBI Bank’s Medical Consultant?

A: Not specified. The Panaji advertisement prints no minimum or maximum age and no cut-off date. Do not copy 28–35 from Grade B notifications. Eligibility here is MBBS, two years’ practice, registration and the 5 km radius.

Q3: Is there an exam for RBI Bank’s Medical Consultant, or is it interview-based?

A: No written exam. RBI Panaji interviews eligible applicants, then verifies documents and runs medical tests at the candidate’s cost. The Bank may tighten the shortlist if too many valid forms arrive.

Q4: What is the salary of a Bank’s Medical Consultant in Panaji?

A: ₹1,000 per hour plus ₹1,000 a month for mobile use. Scheduled work is two hours on Bank working days, so a quiet month is near ₹10,000–₹13,000 plus mobile pay; a 30-hour week would raise the fee toward ₹30,000 before TDS.

Q5: Can final-year students or result-awaited candidates apply for this recruitment?

A: No. You need a completed MBBS recognised by MCI/NMC and two years of practice after that degree. Interns and result-awaited students do not meet the experience clause.

Q6: Is RBI Bank’s Medical Consultant a permanent government job?

A: No. It is a three-year, non-renewable contract with fixed hourly remuneration. The advertisement states there is no claim to regular RBI employment and no pension, PF or gratuity.

Q7: Can candidates from other states apply for this recruitment?

A: Yes, if they are Indian citizens with the required MBBS and experience. No Goa domicile is written in the PDF. The binding local rule is the 5 km dispensary or residence radius around the Patto office.

Q8: Where will I be posted if I get selected?

A: At your own private dispensary in the Panaji 5 km zone, for the published afternoon hours. The Bank may alter hours or ask you to attend premises, quarters or emergencies. There is no all-India transfer on this contract.

Q9: Is the RBI Medical Consultant post worth applying for?

A: Yes, if you already practise near Patto and want a defined institutional panel. Worth knowing before you apply: the fee is part-time, the contract ends after three years, and the letterhead does not convert into Grade B.

Q10: Do I need a postgraduate degree in General Medicine?

A: No. MBBS plus two years as an RMP is the minimum. MD/DNB in General Medicine is preferred and may help at interview, but the seat is framed as general-practitioner work even if you hold a later specialist degree.

Q11: What are the disadvantages of a central-bank part-time doctor retainer?

A: The honest downside is an income ceiling and status. You remain a contractor. Hours can be changed, leave is not part of the package, and public-holiday calls are paid only at the same hourly rate. Compare that with an NHM Goa Medical Officer consolidated salary if you want a fuller work-day.

Q12: How much do contract doctors earn in public sector banks?

A: RBI’s current BMC circulars at several centres use ₹1,000 an hour plus a small mobile reimbursement. That is clinic-retainer money, not Scale I officer pay. Full-time bank medical officer cadres, where they exist, sit on a different pay structure.

Q13: Is a bank medical consultant job in Goa better than an NHM contract?

A: It depends on hours and stability. NHM Goa Medical Officer seats usually pay a monthly consolidated amount for a fuller duty roster. This RBI seat pays by the hour, keeps your private clinic intact, and ends in three years with no renewal line in the present advertisement.

Pre-Contract Checklist – Before You Apply

  • You hold MBBS (Allopathic, MCI/NMC) and two years’ RMP experience.
  • Your dispensary or residence is within 5 km of Gera Imperium-II, Patto, Panaji.
  • You understand this is a 3-year hourly contract, not a permanent RBI post.
  • You can live with about ₹10,000–₹31,000 a month depending on hours, minus TDS.
  • Experience letters show duty hours and nature of duty; NMC certificate is attached.
  • Annex-III will reach Panaji by 16 September 2026, 5:00 PM, and both emails will be copied.
