Your feeder-level service and ACRs decide the shortlist
No written test is mentioned in this circular. Suitability is judged from your present grade, years in the feeder level, educational conditions, five-year ACRs and vigilance status. A strong interview story does not help if the file never leaves your parent department on time.

| Category | Maximum age as on 10 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Posts at Sl. Nos. 3 to 10 | 56 years (as printed in the circular) |
| Assistant Legal Aid Advisor and Accounts Officer (Sl. Nos. 1 and 2) | Not separately printed. The 56-year cap is stated only for Sl. Nos. 3 to 10 |
| SC / ST / OBC / PwBD extra years | Not printed as a category-wise table. Do not assume open-recruitment relaxations on a deputation circular |
Examples: ✅ A 55-year-old serving officer born on 11 October 1970 — eligible for Sl. Nos. 3 to 10 (within the 56-year limit as on 10 October 2026). ❌ A 57-year-old serving officer born on 09 October 1969 — not eligible for Sl. Nos. 3 to 10 (exceeds the maximum age by 1 year).

Use our Experience Calculator before you claim feeder-level years. Count only regular service after appointment to that level, as the circular requires.
What Is the Salary? – NALSA New Delhi Posts 2026
These posts carry 7th CPC levels. On deputation, pay is drawn under DoPT deputation terms. You may take the pay of the NALSA post or retain parent-cadre pay with deputation allowance, as applicable. Figures below are indicative in-hand if pay is fixed in the NALSA level in New Delhi (X-class, 30% HRA), using DA at about 55% of basic. They are not an appointment-letter guarantee.
| Post | Level | Basic | Indicative in-hand in New Delhi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Legal Aid Advisor | Level-11 | ₹67,700 | ₹1,20,000–₹1,28,000/month (basic ₹67,700 + DA ~55% + 30% HRA + TA, minus NPS ~10% and CGHS) |
| Accounts Officer | Level-10 | ₹56,100 | ₹1,00,000–₹1,08,000/month |
| Superintendent (Legal) / Superintendent (IT) / Assistant Accounts Officer | Level-8 | ₹47,600 | ₹83,000–₹88,000/month |
| Assistant Section Officer / Assistant (Legal) | Level-7 | ₹44,900 | ₹78,000–₹84,000/month |
| Senior Secretariat Assistant / Stenographer Grade ‘D’ / Assistant Librarian | Level-4 | ₹25,500 | ₹45,000–₹48,000/month |
New Delhi is an X-class city for HRA. Estimate your own slip on the 7th CPC Salary Calculator. Actual drawal depends on option under deputation rules, current DA, and NPS or GPF status in the parent cadre.
Allowances follow Central Government rates notified from time to time. Hostel, canteen or staff-quarter claims are not guaranteed in this circular.
What Is the Application Fee?
No application fee is mentioned in the vacancy circular dated 10 September 2026. Do not pay anyone who claims a “processing charge” for this deputation.
How to Apply?
There is no online portal. The file must travel through your parent department and reach NALSA by 10 October 2026.
Read the NALSA 12-post deputation circular dated 10 September 2026. Annexure-A is printed in the same PDF.
Confirm you hold an analogous post or the exact feeder-level years on a regular basis, plus the educational and skill conditions for that post.
Fill Annexure-A in block letters. State date of birth, date of entry into service, date of retirement, qualifications, and how you meet each essential condition.
Attach attested copies of ACRs/APARs for the last five years and the vigilance clearance certificate.
Ask your cadre controlling authority to forward the set while your services can still be spared immediately.
Send the complete packet so that it reaches:
The Member Secretary
National Legal Services Authority
26, Jaisalmer House, Mansingh Road
New Delhi-110011Keep a full photocopy of what was forwarded, plus the dispatch proof from your department.
If you are eligible for more than one designation, treat each as a separate Annexure-A unless your department bundles them in one covering letter. The circular does not describe a single-form, multi-post checkbox.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Sending the form yourself by Speed Post without cadre forwarding. Direct packets from the officer are not the prescribed channel.
- Counting officiating or ad-hoc years as “regular service in the grade.” The circular asks for service rendered after regular appointment to that level.
- Applying as a private employee, retiree or fresher. Those three groups are expressly excluded.
- Missing the 80 wpm / 50-minute computer transcription standard for Stenographer Grade ‘D’, or the 35 wpm English typing condition for Assistant Librarian.
- Waiting until the first week of October to start ACR attestation. Five-year ACR bundles routinely delay forwarding.

How Are Candidates Selected?
Selection is a deputation process, not a single exam day.
- Cadre forwarding — parent department certifies that the officer can be spared and is clear on vigilance.
- Eligibility check — analogous post or feeder-level years, plus the educational and skill conditions printed against that serial number.
- Record scrutiny — attested ACRs of the last five years.
- Offer of deputation — initially for three years, on usual deputation terms issued by the Government from time to time.
- Joining at New Delhi — premature return to the parent cadre can be ordered after at least three months’ notice to the lending organisation and the officer.
No written-exam pattern, syllabus, negative marking or interview mark-sheet is printed. No interview stage is mentioned in the current circular. Do not prepare as if this were SSC Stenographer or an open Group B examination.
Skill standards for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (80 wpm dictation; 50 minutes English transcription on computer) and Assistant Librarian (35 wpm English typing) are eligibility conditions in the circular. Whether NALSA re-tests those skills after shortlisting is not stated.
Why Does NALSA New Delhi Matter?
National Legal Services Authority is the apex statutory body created by the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to organise free legal services for weaker sections and to run Lok Adalats. Patron-in-Chief is the Chief Justice of India. The Executive Chairman is a sitting Supreme Court Judge. Policy work sits with the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice.
HQ functions sit in New Delhi: B-Block, Ground Floor, Administrative Buildings Complex, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi-110001, with a citizen-services presence at 26, Jaisalmer House, Man Singh Road, New Delhi-110011. Officers here support legal aid schemes, Lok Adalats, victim compensation, mediation and the Legal Aid Defence Counsel system across State and District Legal Services Authorities.
Candidates search NALSA New Delhi jobs because the workplace is next to the Supreme Court ecosystem, the pay is 7th CPC, and legal-aid policy work looks stronger on an ACR than a routine secretariat desk. They also search “NALSA vacancy 2026”, “NALSA deputation”, “NALSA stenographer” and “जैसलमेर हाउस नालसा भर्ती” when a circular is hosted on every State Legal Services Authority website.
The honest limit is scale. Twelve HQ seats will not absorb a large feeder cadre; posting is only in New Delhi for this circular, and the appointment remains deputation. You return to the parent cadre when the term ends or when NALSA gives the three-month notice.

The SahisarkariJobs.in Analyst’s Take
Serving legal and accounts officers comparing this circular with Supreme Court Registry deputation, High Court establishments, the Department of Justice consultant panels, and National Human Rights Commission or tribunal deputations should treat NALSA as a small HQ legal-aid secretariat, not a mass cadre intake. The February 2026 cycle under the same file number sought 13 posts including Under Secretary and Deputy Controller of Accounts; this 10 September 2026 circular is a fresh 12-post list without those two senior titles.
Best fit: Central or State legal-service, law-ministry, court-registry and organised-accounts officers already sitting on analogous posts or the printed feeder levels, who can move to New Delhi for about three years and whose five-year ACRs will survive scrutiny.
Skip this if you are hunting for a direct-recruit permanent ticket, an SSC-style written exam, or a first job after LL.B. Private-firm associates and retired officers are outside the eligibility sentence. Officers who cannot get cadre clearance before 10 October 2026 should not start a last-week file.
Practical tip: Start the ACR and vigilance file this week, not the application form. The form is two pages. The bottleneck is always the parent office.
What Documents Are Required?
- Annexure-A application in the format printed in the circular
- Proof of date of birth and date of entry into service
- Educational certificates matching the post (LL.B / LL.M, SAS, CA/CMA/MBA (Finance), B.Lib.I.Sc, B.E./B.Tech or BCA, as applicable)
- Experience certificates that show legal, accounts, library or cyber-security work where the circular demands it
- Attested ACRs/APARs for the last five years
- Vigilance clearance
- Cadre clearance/forwarding letter stating that services can be spared immediately
- Stenography or typing proof if you claim Stenographer Grade ‘D’ or Assistant Librarian
Document alert: An application that reaches Jaisalmer House without the parent-department forwarding note is incomplete, even if every certificate is attached.
What Happens After Selection?
- NALSA examines forwarded files against the serial-wise conditions and ACR record.
- The lending department receives a request to spare the officer on usual deputation terms.
- The officer joins at NALSA, New Delhi, initially for three years.
- Pay and allowances follow current 7th CPC rates as notified by the Central Government, subject to the deputation option you are allowed to exercise.
- Extension, if any, depends on satisfactory performance and the rules then in force.
- If either side needs an early end, the circular provides for return to the parent cadre after at least three months’ notice to the lending ministry or organisation and to the officer.
There is no printed absorption clause in this circular. Do not treat HQ deputation as automatic conversion to a NALSA permanent cadre post.

FAQs – NALSA Recruitment 2026
What is the last date to apply for NALSA New Delhi posts 2026?
10 October 2026 (Saturday). The packet must reach the Member Secretary at 26, Jaisalmer House, Mansingh Road, New Delhi-110011 by that date. Late applications will not be entertained. No extension is printed in the 10 September 2026 circular.
What is the age limit for NALSA deputation posts?
56 years as on 10 October 2026 for posts at Sl. Nos. 3 to 10. The circular does not print a separate figure for Assistant Legal Aid Advisor and Accounts Officer. Category-wise extra years are not tabulated. Check your exact date of birth against 10 October 2026 before the file moves.
Is there an exam for NALSA Assistant and Stenographer posts?
No written exam is mentioned. Selection is based on scrutiny of eligibility, five-year ACRs and vigilance clearance. Stenographer Grade ‘D’ still needs 80 wpm dictation and 50-minute English transcription on computer as an eligibility condition. No interview marks are printed.
What is the salary of NALSA New Delhi posts?
Pay spans Level-4 (₹25,500 basic) to Level-11 (₹67,700 basic). Indicative New Delhi in-hand is about ₹45,000–₹48,000 at Level-4 and ₹1,20,000–₹1,28,000 at Level-11 if pay is fixed in that level. Actual drawal follows DoPT deputation terms and your parent-cadre option.
Can final-year students apply for this NALSA circular?
No. This circular is only for serving officers of government, UT, autonomous or statutory bodies who already hold the printed qualifications and feeder-level service. Final-year students, fresh LL.B holders and result-awaited candidates are outside the eligibility sentence.
Is a NALSA headquarters post a permanent government job?
No. These 12 seats are filled on deputation, ordinarily for three years and extendable on satisfactory performance. You remain on your parent cadre’s service rules for pension or NPS. The circular does not promise absorption in NALSA.
Can candidates from other states apply?
Yes, if they are serving in a Central or State Government, UT, autonomous body or statutory body and meet the post-wise conditions. There is no Delhi domicile test. The posting itself is New Delhi. Parent-department forwarding is still mandatory.
Where will I be posted if selected?
At NALSA in New Delhi. The circular does not offer a state-cadre choice or a district preference form. Office locations cited on the official site are the Supreme Court administrative complex and Jaisalmer House, Man Singh Road.
Does my parent department have to forward the application?
Yes. Annexure-A must go with attested five-year ACRs and vigilance clearance, and services must be available to be spared immediately. A self-sent form without cadre forwarding does not match the process printed in the circular.
Is there any application fee for these 12 posts?
No fee is mentioned in File No. A/02/2025-NALSA dated 10 September 2026. Ignore anyone asking for a portal charge or “file movement fee.” Report such demands on cybercrime.gov.in.
What is the salary of legal aid officers in central statutory bodies?
It depends on the level of the post, not on the phrase “legal aid.” In this circular, legal posts sit at Level-11, Level-8 and Level-7. In-hand in New Delhi is higher than the same level in a Z-class town because HRA is 30% here.
Is deputation to a national legal services body worth it for a Section Officer?
Worth knowing before you apply: the ASO seat is one post at Level-7 in a 12-seat HQ. The work is legal-aid administration, not courtroom practice. If your goal is a promotion inside your own secretariat cadre this year, a three-year move to New Delhi may slow that line.
What are the disadvantages of taking a headquarters deputation like this?
The trade-off is simple. You get Supreme Court-adjacent legal-aid HQ exposure, and 7th CPC allowances in New Delhi, but the seat is small, time-bound and fully dependent on cadre clearance. Housing is not promised in the circular, and there is no printed absorption path.
Final Checklist – Is This the Right Job for You?
- You are a serving Central/State/UT/autonomous/statutory officer, not a fresher, retiree or private employee.
- You hold an analogous post or the exact regular feeder-level years printed against the serial number.
- Your age is within 56 years as on 10 October 2026 if you are applying for Sl. Nos. 3 to 10.
- Your department can attach five-year ACRs and vigilance clearance in time for the packet to reach Jaisalmer House by 10 October 2026.
- You are willing to serve only in New Delhi for about three years on deputation terms, with no absorption promise in this circular.
